That beautiful China cupboard would look really pretty in your living room! It would add height, as well. Could one of the shelving units be put to use just as easily elsewhere? the items put into the cupboard could be items from that shelving unit…books…games…memoribilia? Rather than dishes or glassware.

This garage series is soo good! I think having your gardening nook is a pretty smart idea. Here is a challenge for you: Have the gardening nook be your only gardening stuff (sans holiday yard stuff and big tools). All the stuff in the nook wasn't accessible for a year and you didn't need or use it. Something to think about. I bet you could consolidate all you will truly use to the nook. Store all the yard flags there too.

Hi! I keep the majority of my gardening supplies in a cupboard in my garage(bought at Lowe’s). I also keep a medium size bin on the back patio to store additional trowels, clippers, etc. for use in the backyard. I also store a trash can, broom, dustpan, & shovel in the corner of the back patio for backyard work. RE: The hutch - - I would sell it in the next yard sale. If it’s been in the garage this long, that means that you do not need it or love it🌞💐

definitely a good idea to store things closest to where you use them... cass said this but I think she got it from another organizer. it def helps to have things where you use them... in our old house we only had 1 closet per floor plus no shed, garage ( and avoided the wet basement for storage) so it was tough to store things where you needed them. here I trying to store some things where we most often use them.

Great job both of you the garage looks so much better. You really work so well together and achieved so much. Btw I think it makes perfect sense what you said about keeping your garden nook in the garage because it’s near where it is needed most. Excited to see what the space looks like when it is fully decluttered and organised. It was nice you found a few more things to add into the yard sale pile too.

Omg so much progress! As a fellow crafter I would use the china hutch as a crafroom storage I used an old tv stand and turned it into a crafting center or as some people suggested in the living room for the command center. One thing I commonly run into with helping other people organize is that vertical space is not utilized efficiently so anything that can store things high up is a plus

I’ll be happy when I can get my hubby on board to declutter the living room and straighten it up for the stuff that has to stay. Back story on why outside shed stuff is inside now, three years ago we got hit by Hurricane Ida and destroyed our outside shed and just haven’t been able to replace it yet due to finances. We do have a storage unit at another location but hubby doesn’t want to store certain things there due to security reasons and I understand that but I just wish he would clean and organize his things cuz it’s driving me crazy

I was already thinking that China hutch would be perfect in your craft studio in the basement. You could display a few handmade items as well as store some of the colorful craft supplies like ribbons. You can even make the hutch one of your creative projects by painting it. Great tossy, tossy pile. I had anxiety seeing everything taken out and spread out on the driveway. As much as I want to do that I just can’t do it.

Have you ever listened to Dana K. White? She has come up with a simple way to declutter that takes away the emotional side of it. For example: the first thing she has you do is look for trash, not should I think of it as trash, but to me I know it is trash. This helps get the hoard down, has you look and see what is actually there and gets you prepared for the next step. She also goes over certain ideas such as the container concept, clutter thresholds, and (I think she calls it) brain explosion. She is known as A Slob Comes Clean. She is a hoot.

Wow, FANTASTIC work! 🥳👏👏👏👏👏The hutch might make a good storage piece directly across from the front door in your living room, if it won’t make your dining area too crowded. The hutch could replace the open cubbies for kids’ stuff. You could also replace one of the cupboards in your kitchen with the hutch. Taking it downstairs might be risky because I’ll bet it’s heavy.

I hope it feels good to you to see so much space opening up in the garage. Is hubby going to move his things from the basement out there so that the basement is cleaner? And will you have an address you can stack yard sale bins in the garage rather than keeping them in the basement? Both those things would allow you to see your progress in the basement more, I think. And I agree with those who suggest selling the hutch and using the money to buy open shelving for the garage. It doesn't seem like you're attached to it so exchanging it for something useful to your lives would honor his parents' gift to you.

That cabinet would go really well in the kitchen in place of current pantry cabinet. You could even paint it white to match. It can probably fit everything you got there now. Alternatively, why not use in the basement for storage and display of your childhood toys maybe? Or you put it sideways to make a visual division of basement areas, ie children playroom from storage area. It would look more homely for kids.

Ohh, I'm so excited for you guys. I'm doing the paperwork decluttering and organizing of my home right now, I have 15 years of papers and my partner has maybe 10. And yesterday I came to realize that no, my paper pile isn't composed of 75% useless things like every channel I watched on this subject promised me it would. I threw away maybe 5%, which were the envelopes some were still in and a few outdated bills. All my paperwork is legal, governmental, medical, crucial stuff I will absolutely need to use this year or to keep for legal or safety rasons, or professionnal material I need to keep for reference. I have many bins worth of paper I cannot throw away. And I feel kind of tired about having watched so many reputed people telling me that's not true and no one has that much. Well, I guess no one has ongoing legal battles, multiple chronic illnesses and even more doctors, multple insurances companies with paperwork to file, pets with chronic issues to keep track of, and also many professions to keep track of with each many many standards, courses, supplemental materials and so on to keep close. Guess that's why I love filing cabinets. My best friend I was ranting about this to told me I should be proud, because it meant I was doing such a good job not holding onto useless paper in the first place. But anyways, the joy I felt watching your floor so open kind of mixed with the joy I felt yesterday from filling my first 3 sub-category files in the cabinet, and gave me a new burst of confidence and motivation. Thanks so much!

When my youngest daughter buys her first home, i will be hunting down a similar china cabinet, but not for china. She and I will turn it into a gift wrapping station. She doesn't do any needlework like i do. But she loves to go all out wrapping gifts.

You could keep the bottom of the hutch & get rid of the top part and if you guys dont like it the way it is, redo it into something you both love & he gets to keep the best part of the hutch w/out it eating up a room... just a thought... ❤ ya & ur videos! Great work!

It's a beautiful piece of furniture, but if you don't have a space currently for it, or you have to consider trying to make a place just to keep it, it might be better to sell it off and get things you will use. For example, a better system for your husbands tools/storage in the garage. It was hard to let my grandparents large furniture pieces go because they were beautiful, but they didn't fit the space I had in my home, and this way they went to people that would cherish them and use them properly instead of it being stored away and possibly getting ruined over time being in a garage at my house. -- I saw comments about moving it to replace your pantry, but part of your current pantry system allows you to have shelves that you decorate seasonal and that is something that brings you a lot of joy doing. A large piece of furniture that goes up rather high, will mean that those shelves would have to go and leave you without that space to decorate. Just things to consider, from what I've seen you enjoy being able to see your items in the space, that visual lets you know they are there.

all the people telling you to keep a huge, outdated, heavy hutch are NOT your friends 😂 if you don’t love it, let it go!
