There are programs specifically for this, it automatically switches from 1 screen to 3 screens (or whatever you choose) when you're not in a game. Racing games or something like Elite Dangerous are the only things you would want to use this on.

any kind of triple monitor gaming only has one place where it makes sense and the headache is worth it, simulation games. In sim racing games, triple wide monitors allow you to look further into the corners to spot your apex and drive towards it rather than reacting to the corner as it comes into view with the fov afforded by a single monitor (or even most ultrawide ones). This will actually make you a faster racer. For sim driving games such as ATS or ETS the triple screen fov allows you to see out your side windows without turning the in game camera, thus making it more immersive and easier to paly because you simply turn your head to look out the window instead of taking your hands off the wheel or wasting the limited keybinds you have on your wheel to manipulate the camera. As he said though, most games aren't rendered properly for this setup outside of the sim world, creating some wild stretching effects on your side monitors.

Fun experiment! I wonder how this experience would be with the current generation of 49" panels that have a much tighter screen radius. The Samsung G9 for example has a radius of 1000, the ones shown in this video have a radius of 3800. You would need an U shaped desk I am afraid though.

When you get one more of Nvidia’s 65 inch big format gaming displays from another company please try to set them up in a triple monitor configuration in either 4K or 1440 at 144hz. That would be a pretty immersive experience. I’m pretty sure you all ready have an HP omen one and a Asus one so I’m guessing someone will send you another.

Phillip Morales They sell floor stands that mount on the back of a TV. Unbox therapy used a set of TV stands in their ultimate racing sim setup video to hold up three 55 inch TV’s. If they did that it would be the ultimate racing sim at 144 hz.

THIS is why you want a different resolution within the same render... periphery rendered at 480p while main screen at 1080p... would help with you strain and you can't really see peripheral stuff too good so low res would be great but still would feel awesome in a racing game, seeing the side without turning camera and stuff

8k is actually more total pixels than the set up here. (5120×1440 times 2) plus (3840×1080) is 18,892,800. 5120×1440 times 3 is 22,118,400. 8k resolution (7680 x 4320) is 33,177,600.

Exactly. I'm not so sure about the allure of multi-monitor/widescreen gaming setups anymore. Higher refresh rate and resolution VR headsets will make them fall out of favor for even more people. Competitive gamers don't prefer widescreens anyway. They're still pretty good for general media and multi-tasking stuff though.

I commented on this video a few years ago asking if it were possible to do this with iRacing. I made Micro Center prove it was possible and then built a NASCAR chassis around this configuration of monitors. Sim Racing with triple 49 is amazing!

There is a huge mistake in the video. 3x 49" is not 147" If the monitors are 32:9 you get the actualy diagonal length over all 3 with: {(sqrt( 96^2 + 9^2)) / (sqrt(32^2 +9^2))} * 49, which is ~ 142"
