The plaintiff claims the defendants’ son dragged her out of her car at a gas station and ran her over during a carjacking. She says the vehicle was badly damaged when she got it back, so she’s suing for repairs, plus pain and suffering. The defendants claim their son was an innocent passenger in the car, so they owe nothing.

While I agree with you for the most part I found the plaintiff’s actions before and after seeing the judge to be a little strange. I know stress reactions can present in a variety of ways but she seemed a little off. I would need to do an in person assessment to get to the root of it though. I also noticed the plaintiff did not ask for any reimbursement for mental health care (past, present, or future) which she could have added on for a larger judgment.

Screw costing the parent! It's going to cost the child the most! I've seen with my own eyes how being the "not my child" type of parent can harm a child their whole life. I would get my child a lawyer so that they can have the best outcome for rehabilitation. Locking the child up isn't the only answer. A young child/teen needs intense counseling of some sort and needs to get involved with youth groups. I've always believed having kids involved in sports, studies, youth groups, and volunteering, 1; keeps them busy; 2 teaches them morals and values; 3 helps build their character. Letting your child sit idle and not choosing who to let them hang around is no good. You can't choose your child's friends, however, you can have a strong influence by putting them in better situations.

When I was 14, I was held at knife point by a group of three men in a stolen car (it was found abandoned several weeks later). They kept saying they had a gun too, but I know they didn't. I was raised and trained to use firearms, so I knew they wouldn't be using a knife if they actually had a gun. I was able to fight off the one trying to pull me into their back seat and eventually managed to slam the car door he was half way out of into his hand/wrist. Out of anger, he lunged at me with the knife but he missed, and before he could retaliate again, a woman pulled up in a car and they fled when they realized there was a witness. I hadn't even realized I was holding a rock ready to strike him had he come at me again. I must have picked it up after falling. When the woman took me to her house to wait for police, I realize I was bleeding and he had in fact cut my arm with the knife. It was a shallow wound. I know exactly how this poor woman feels and I'm happy the perpetrators are being held accountable.

My daughter, although not perfect herself, was bullied and traumatised at school from about 7 years old, and still at 26 suffers from the trauma and mostly due to parents who refused to accept their little darlings are little horrors and that it is their idealisation of them being little darlings that makes them the little horrors. They get away with it and so continue, there needs to be consequences.
@wynottgivemore9274

@@lisaparrey1343 I understand how kids are. I was what I thought was what they call bullying, bullied as a kid in elementary school, kids would gang up on me,surround me after school and sometimes even the kids I thought were my friends would be in on the plan. One time I got a big hambone thrown at me by an older kid it knocked me off of the bike I was on and had to get stiches, another time my "friend" flicked a broken beer bottle at me with his hockey stick and got me on the other side and I needed stitches for that too. Kids will be kids, that same kid was in my yard one day and picked up one of our lawn darts ,I was talking with him and another guy. So I didn't pay much attention to what he was doing until after...but now that I now know, he was trying to actually hit me with it. He threw it up into the air then he stood there and watched me and then he would look up and try to gauge the darts distance from me as it apparently was heading down close to me,well all of a sudden it came zinging past my head straight down deep into the lawn. He then said oops. Back then I had no idea he was actually trying to hurt me. But my snap to it ness me 40 or some years later thinking back to all the things this guy whom I thought was a friend, was actually trying to kill me. I'm almost sure of it. Anyway he was standing with the older guy that I had never met before then that threw the bone at me. And I recall several other instances where he was in the crowd as bullies surrounded me to fight. I thought back then that I was protecting him. I wasn't gonna even talk about this when I came here., I was thinking of my older sisters experience with what she called bullies. She thought because the other girls would point and laugh at her dress that that was being bullied, And oh in the washroom they would giggle when she peed and it made a sound when it hit the water. Oh girl you don't have a clue ,my sister that is.

I really admire how respectful the defendants and plaintiffs were with each other. They are all so professional and left their own biases out of how they answered the Judge’s questions. Such a sad case involving two parents who, while disappointed, love their son so much and still want to provide the best for their son and try to provide some sort of future for him when he’s finally able to move on from this. Also, a victim that while still experiencing PTSD, is able to speak respectfully in front of one of her perpetrators parents. Sad situation, but justice really was served and it’s rare that both parties are in agreement on it.

Only reason It got better was when I started to accept my fear and confront it. You can’t judge a person based off of seeing them for 20 minutes. Not everyone “acts” like you think they should.
