Environmental Disclosure for those that need it...due to the angry comments...some of ya need to hear this: WOW!!! Boy lot's of great comments on this video....some pretty nasty hateful comments too. To all those who don't understand that dish soap is a chemical, vinegar is a chemical, salt brine is a chemical, fertilizer is a chemical, glyphosate is a chemical, gasoline is a chemical, rubbing alcohol is a chemical, water and baby shampoo are also chemicals. Whatever you decide to use on your body, your property, your dishes or your car...understand that I am very environmentally conscious with every move I make on this farm.....I purposely didn't tell ya what I used in the sprayer because either way I'll be judged......it's not up to me to tell you what to use ...or pass judgment on ya for using what you see fit.....please don't make assumptions about what I'm doing here....because you are absolutely wrong....either way you are assuming....I always do the right thing and am very environmentally conscious...it's cost us nearly $20,000 extra to fence out the creeks and waterways on this farm....do ya think I'm gonna do the wrong thing now?

I can remember the first four wheeler sprayer I built in 1990. 12foot boom with four foot sections. I modified the foldable wing boom the next winter to be spring loaded. 20 gallons in multiple tanks, which was helpful for going up hillsides. That and a five gallon backpack sprayer from the 70’s , I could spot spray all morning long.

FYI - they make a remote devise - receiver plugs into the SAE connector (black 2 pin connector) and then battery. Place the remote in the cab to turn on/off the sprayer. I keep mine Velcro’d to the roll bar upright (RTV900). No wires and works great. I would also suggest adding a mixing hose to the tank - another FIMCO option - it keeps the material well mixed. Maybe not be a problem while moving, but if parked up and spraying with the wand, it will keep chemical separation down to a minimum. Farm is looking 👍

I use a 25 gallon tank as well, I used aluminum tent poles,as my bar, 10 feet, long. 5 ,double fan, spray tips. My spray wand, uses the same spray tip, so that they are interchangeable. Its connected to the tank, via, shut off valves. That hose is 100 feet long. I have a lot of tight places to get to. All of this is in the back of my pickup, the spray bar rests on the tail gate. I have an on, off, switch in the cab. That way I have air conditioning and a radio. My favorite color, is dirt, brown.

I found years ago that the amperage draw on my UTV battery (charging system) was too much, so I bought a separate deep draw (RV) battery just for my sprayers. I also use it for my back up water supply system for the house for power outages. Note: I use the battery not the sprayer as a backup during power outages.

Because of our having a well and other important reasons we don't use glyphosate. We use vinegar/ Epsom salt. Kills weeds without poisoning nature , or myself. That being said, the only place weeds are unwanted is where crops grow. Some crops will naturally choke out most weeds.

Hi Josh! Great content, man. Love your video's and all the info you offer ... very helpful! Question ... we just purchased 64 acres in upstate NY. Mostly forested and existing trails throughout. Seems an owner or two ago was cool with people riding their dirt bikes and atv's. We are not cool with this and seem to have already had our first visitor. Any suggestions on how to get our point of no trespassing across without any backlash?? Thanks!
@plagueofbadgers
@plagueofbadgers 3 жыл бұрын
If the previous owner(s) allowed this it could take some time to get it stopped. It could be just your neighbors and they had permission to ride through, go introduce yourself to them. It could be as simple as just letting them know you are the new owners and don't want the riders coming onto the property anymore. You can also get purple paint and go around your property line marking trees with purple squares. Universal No Trespassing sign that NY state recognizes. Add to that your own No Trespassing signs which need to include the property owner's name and address. Then stay on top of it.

The whole rig is probably less than 220lbs filled, so it should be fine all day, everyday.

Good question Leon as cheep as things are made today. If it helps water weighs 8.33 pounds per gallon so 25 gallons 208 plus weight of tank and motor and what ever else is attached. Bouncing around over rough ground roads I have no idea what shock loads would be. SRF suggests 250 gallons might be hard is an under statement since it would be over 2000 pounds sitting on the tailgate. Your guess is as good as theirs and maybe much better. Have a blessed day.

You need a proper respirator with chemical filters. Many farmers who did not, now have cancer!

@@StoneyRidgeFarmer I know you did not show what you were putting in the sprayer. But, you did mention Roundup, glyphosate etc. As an 'influencer' you should feel the responsibility of showing people the proper way to operate a sprayer.

@@MrQ23 I agree. But people listen to Josh. As a KZbinr and a nurse, should he have not discussed the proper safety equipment when using Roundup? Hey nobody is perfect - perhaps in a future video....

I love smoking weed. But gate lawn weeds. What most Asians as oriental etc.. They use 4 Liter of Vinger with water

Or you could just add the weed killer first and then the water. That will mix it up well.
@augustreil
@augustreil 3 жыл бұрын
That generally isn't the best way because a good portion of what you use may get in the pick-up tube when it's first poured in. Water first, herbicide, etc. next and then I just drive about 200ft, starting and stopping and it mixes just fine.

@@StoneyRidgeFarmer I do the same in my sprayer it's a lot smaller scale but it does keep it from foaming

Most of the weed killer mixes contain a surfactant, or a detergent, which causes the foaming.
