If you are completely new to DAWs/Studio One, this tutorial was created with you in mind.
I cover topics at a slower pace and briefly explain music production terms and concepts in a palatable way. Topics covered in the tutorial include: setting up Studio One, recording live instruments/vocals, laying drum tracks in several different methods (MIDI), adding effects, and much more.

Quanta ... So i want to Record a Video of me playing a Sax to a backing track. How do I take the Recorded audio from that video and separate it that I may add Reverb or echo or other effects ? I know how to bring the video into Studio One. Is it possible to do what I want in the above question?

@@jamesc1698 I THINK I UNDERSTAND, its been a week and i think perhaps your grammar may be misleading me, ive also literally only just gotten the thing on splice and im about as little idea of how this wonderful machine works ,but i think if you would taken the time to fully detail what your question is, the more likely you will receive and answer . onto the answer , you could just record you playing the sax as just an audio clip preferably and then you could do whatever post processing to that one, and as you would also have a video of you playing the sax, if you just fade in the nice processed one it will be a1 steak sauce , its like what the sexy sax guy did

Mate, you are a legend. I've never really used a DAW before but am learning with S1 and you have made so many videos on it over the years that I honestly just want to thank you for sharing your knowledge with us (and you have SO. MUCH. KNOWLEDGE!). I am extremely, extremely grateful (and lucky!) to have people like you, who make these videos for us dum-dums/newbies. From the bottom of my heart, thank you, I really mean it!

@@jamesc1698 download davinci resolve there you can seperate things and then you can use onnly the audiodata sperated from the video and then later on put them together again but then you use only the video data while your old audiodata will be replaces with the new one .... its funny you asked a question i could answer because that happens often to me when i find unwanted tiny errors in video projects but do not want to do a new voice over so i extract only the audio and make instead a new video content

Hello and I thank you for this video. I am a 59 year old guy that’s never mixed more then a bowl of pancake batter. I have recently become extremely interested in producing my own music. As a new guy I didn’t even know what DAW was. Lol As I study the tutorials I seldom understand wtf there talking about. Common sense seems to me that if one is doing a how to for beginners they would cover it as if the listener is hearing these things for first time in life. Like I am. Again I think you for helping me to understand how to get to where I’m wanting to go and what I’m wanting to do. Thank you 🙏🏽

Thanks man! I Iearned some briliant shortcuts! I always tried to get warm with FL-Studio but it always felt clunky and the UI is like its a programm from 2003. Studio One on the other hand is really well designed and super intuitive with a logical concept and really short distances between most relevant functions and u have like every function well sorted on right click. I am really impressed by this masterpiece of software. Fastest Workflow for me without endless menudiving.

This is an excellent tutorial! I've worked on "both sides of the microphone", run my own small studio back in analog days, and have many friends with similar studio experience. I'm 79 and cut my teeth in performing music back in the "folk scare" of the 60s and 70s. Basically, I'm not too senile to understand new technology, nor did I just fall off the turnip truck when it comes recording, engineering and production (or working with a DAW). I moved up to Studio One from working with the free DAW Audacity, which is simple and intuitive - and has nasty latency issues (except on Linux) which make it pretty much unusable for professional quality recording. I was frankly appalled at the poor quality of the official PreSonus manual which comes wiith Studio One Professional 5! It's the most poorly written piece of **** I've come across in many years of working with software and hardware, both in music and in IT. The Audacity manual is, by contrast, absolutely first rate, extensively hyperlinked internally both on terminology and concepts, with graphics of various screens which are clickable, and take one to clear, well-written discussions of every feature of the software. Studio One's documentation, on the other hand, puts me in mind of the documentation for the early 8-bit personal computers, much of which was written by engineers and programmers who were brilliant at what they did, but couldn't write a clear and understandable paragraph of documentation if their lives depended on it! I can explain the math behind third harmonic distortion on tape, and have _written_ good software documentation, but I was left clueless and floundering in the Studio One documentation and in some of the tutorials. By contrast, your SUPER-SIMPLE introductory tutorial was excellent! A lot of the material was already familiar to me, so it was review, but there were certainly gaps in my knowledge that you filled in, so I didn't mind listening to your well presented and well organized discussions of concepts and tools which I had already figured out. You have a gift for teaching, sir! I look forward to working my way through some of your other, more advanced tutorials for Studio One. Thank you!!

Quanta, thanks for a fantastic intro tutorial on Studio One 4.5. I learned so much. I have been trying to do this from my old analog Tascam Porta One years ago/ standalone digital recorder Fostex VF160 , last 15 years way of doing things. Upgrading to a DAW and studio one a couple of years ago has been more of a challenge that I wanted to admit. Mostly just wanted to plug in and start recording and now under stand why I was having trouble with some of the virtual guitar processors like ampire having the latency and got possible ways to fix it. Now havin this background I have a better feel of how to do that and make something that sounds good. Especially liked the part on the drum pattern creation. Thanks again
