Get to know our Maytag 5.2 cu. ft. washer& Maytag 7.4 cu. ft. dryer (pls watch our follow up video)

If you are interested or want more information about the Maytag washer and dryer, this video is for you. We have a new Maytag 5.2 cu. ft. washer and a Maytag 7.4cu. ft. dryer. Prior to getting a new washer, make sure the home's water valves still work. We had to get it fixed before getting our new appliances. You'll get a lot of information about the Maytag washer and dryer. Then, there's a real-time Quick Wash demonstration that shows the clothes get washed with an agitator. We thoroughly enjoy them because they can handle large loads (i.e. 2 king blankets).

I watched this video first, saw the comments then watched the 3 mth review. I'm running my first load now. The contractors Home Depot uses delayed my install as well citing "corrosion" at the valves. Had a plumber come out who said there was no corrosion.

I had the opposite experience. Cleaned clothes perfectly, without filling the entire tub for no reason. These are engineered for the amount of water used, no matter if some can’t wrap their minds around not using an entire tube to clean.

We had to watch the video to learn how to use the washer/dryer. Did a load of towels first, came out wonderful. Better than using a "ringer" washer and/or a wash board for sure!! Getting used to these "new fangled" machines....just like learning to use a smart phone/smart TV or computer!! Yeah, we're in our 60's. Always loved my Maytags!

Those are commercial models, not like the ones shown here. It senses how much water you need for the clothes and all you do is select the temperature.

Just got one of these and it bangs questionably loud for the first 10 seconds of the spin ups. Kinda making me cringe a bit but the banging stops once it goes to full speed. Couldn’t quite tell bu your audio if yours does the same. Gonna call their support line. If there isn’t a fix I think this thing is going back. Much appreciate this video. Thank you.

😅 Whew, I didn’t know all the work that would go into running this washing machine. I learned by trial and error. There is a button on the inside of the washer to let the water run and soak your clothes for a while. Then once you turn on the washer it drains all the water and you can begin the setting for the washer to wash your load. I am not used to watching a load of laundry being washed with such little water. So, I had to keeping working with it until I figured it out, plus this video helped out too. I’m used putting a load in and pressing start. So much technology, I just have to get used to this, I love Maytag. My very first one lasted me 25 years.

I have lg top load pd $1200 just turned 9 years old and drum rotation squeaks and grinds. I thought I wd buy new in lieu of $300 repair. Thought wd try maytag, but when read reviews and seen this video and these below comments. I will not buy maytag... I will get repair for now. May buy LG again but this time larger with agitator...LG has free WiFi on all their appliances. Just bought the Refrigerator, with the glass see through lighted door and LOVE it so far...Bought all from Lowes Chesterfield, MO Appliance mgr John is great, delivery men were wonderful...

Thanks for the video!! Just got washer and dryer delivered this week and I absolutely love them!! I've been washing everything I can get my hands on. Took a little while to learn them but when I started thinking about them as computers I got it a lot faster. Love the App, notifications, and ability to set up my favorite cycles and send them to the machines!! These things are amazing!!!!!

Thank you for this video!! I am about 19 seconds from calling BrandsMart to come back and pick these machines up. I don’t understand how something that is supposed to be so smart, performs at low levels!! I am doing my first load ever (for the second time might I add) because I noticed that my load didn’t smell clean like I am used to with my old standard dumb washer... I was almost i tears!! Try different settings to figure out which one works well. For the large bulky blankets- we have to be aware of when it spins because it gets out of balance. Sometimes we have to stick towels or something else to make it balance.

Purchased this set in 9/7/2021 … I’ve had them for about a month and a half. Whatever you do, do not purchase this set! At least not the dryer. I’ve had so many issues with the dryer. My only complaint with the washer is that you have to balance out the clothes really good if not you’ll keep getting error message about it. The dryer though? I’ve had a tech come and try and replace the rollers, and idler because my dryer was making a sound he’s never even headed before in the drum. After fixing it, the problem was not gone but it was slightly better. Keep in mind, the first few weeks of having the dryer it never made sound, couldn’t even tell it was on and running. Anyway, after the putting in clothes directly after washing, it’s dries for about 3 minutes and all of a sudden says cooling down and shuts off. I have always dried about the same amount of clothes, and never had an issue with this the first couple of weeks until now. Says he can’t do anything about it because there’s no error code. Stuck with this dryer because Home Depot doesn’t do returns after 30 days!

Our dryer would say the vent or dryer was clogged- even when we only had it for a couple months and already cleaned the vent in the wall. Their products are not good. You can check out our vide - Our new Maytag Washer: A horrible tale. Pretty much- problems with the washer.

The dryer is fine. I just realized, you do need a small grab tool to remove the loose lint one the side and bottom of the lint trap.

This video was made because we were excited to get a new washer/dryer and wanted to share this experience. After a few months, we realized that there were so many issues. I had purchased a Maytag gas dryer (Ok in 1988) and found it took much longer to dry the clothes than an electric dryer - sometimes as long as 2 hours to dry a load of cotton shirts (full load). My when I used my friends electric dryer, the same load took 20 minutes.

It probably depends on the heat setting. I place mine on medium and wrinkle release. it does take a little longer. So far, they dryer has been good.

@@gluna0192 I've had so many issues with this washer. Several times I would set it to wash only to come back later and it hadn't washed yet. It also isn't good with any type of large items. By large I mean everyday bath towels or more than 2-3 pair of jeans at a time. It gets unbalanced and needs to be reset to continue. I've had someone here twice to see if washer needed to be balanced to make it stop doing that but apparently nothing can be done because they both said it was fine. My biggest pet peeve is when it stops you have to wait SOOOOOOO long to be able to open lid. I could complain all day about the problems I have with this washer but I think you get the picture. :)

I have the same set as you and purchased them back in July 2020. My biggest complaint is that when I wash a set of king size sheets, 2 bath towels and 2 hand towels, the load most always gets off balance. I feel like I have to 'baby sit' the washer when it goes into a spin. I use the bulky items setting so it has the max fill. Don't know what I'm doing wrong. I load the washer like they tell you so I don't think that is the issue.

Just bought this washer. Well, the 5.3 cube... It's very quiet. Even on spin cycle. Only issue I've had is that on bulj cycle, it was stuck on 11 minutes left. It will fill with water to a point, stop and do it again and again. I stopped it. Still stuck on 11 min. Unplugged it and plugged it back in. Then it was able to continue, but i then put it on drain abs spin cycle. Not sure why.. Other than that, i absolutely love this thing. Oh, my model does not have an agitator. Don't like agitators.

It seems like technology doesn't always make things better. The old washers would last 20 plus years. I'm about to wash again so I how it's ok. I think that on the bulk items setting, it is trying to detect a larger load (i only had one cover in the washer). That may have thrown the sensor off.

About after 20 minutes, i got scared and stopped the cycle. I tried to call Maytag. Waiting is forever, and I am still on hold as I write this. Is this normal. I use the faucet feature, fill the bin to the amount of water I want, then- put a delay start. When you select delay start, you can indicate the amount of hours you want it to wait. I hope that helps.

I bought a set of this washer/dryer. Mine are electric. The washer kept tearing up my clothes, sheets, and towels because it didn't put enough water in before it started agitating. It was dry humping my clothes. Seriously. Barely damp. NO water in the tub. My sheets ended up in a big waded up ball on one side of the washer. I called a repairman out to look at it. According to him, he (nor me) was not allowed to put clothes in it so he could watch perform. Really? Then how are you going to see what it's doing? His answer to me was--- I meaning me, didn't know how to wash clothes. (Really?) He said to set the button on 1 setting and never touch it. Then I said Why put all of those settings on it if I can't use them. He said it gets confused if I change the settings. It gets confused. That was it. He reset it..mashed a few buttons (???) and left. SO...I tried to wash towels after he left. SOS. 2 of my towels came out with holes in them. I'm done. I cannot afford to replace everything because I (at 60 years old) don't know how to wash clothes. I got my old one (frontloader) fixed and moved it back inside. Guess what? Turns out I do know how to wash clothes. What did I do with this brand new set of scrap metal I spent $$$ on? Well, It's not in my house, I'm not stressing about my clothes being ripped up and It will never return to the place It was purchased to be. It DOES NOT work correctly and I will not ever buy Maytag again. Kudos to all of you who love this machine. Mine was a POCRAP that they did not, would not stand behind and fix to work like it was designed to work. Maytag will never cross my threshold again.

We just purchased the same washer and dryer. You need someone to show a video on how to load or send me a note on how to load light large blanket and king sized sheets without wrapping them around the agitator. I need to know this now.

We also struggle with this. If you place the blanket on one side, the machine will be unbalanced. I have to wrap the blanket around the agitator to evenly distribute the weight. The bad part is that I don't see the blanket turning. It ends up staying in the same spot. Sometimes, if the blanket easily moves, the agitator moves it to one side of the washer and causes it to become unbalance. I will make a video of washing a large blanket and king size sheets. thanks!

Yeah I watched a laundry cycle on KZbin... useful and I'll tell you why. Ours showed up today with a dent in the side. The delivery guys want to start the tub filling as a test. A couple concerns after they left. 1. I couldn't get the cancel cycle / drain to work so had to unplug the unit. Cancel worked after plugging it back in again. 2. that ray-gun sound it makes while washing. I really thought the unit was broken but it seems yours does the same thing though a bit muted in comparison. If issue #1 doesn't occur again we might have a winner. QQ - does condensate form on the face of the controls from steam escaping through the top hatch on your unit? Thanks for taking the time to video the quick wash cycle.

Yes, we have had an issue a few times at the beginning of the cycle. During the sensing phase, I wanted to add a shirt, pressed the pause, it stopped, but...it didn't release the latch. Then, I couldn't cancel it. We ended up powering it off and then, turning it back on. Yes, it does have a ray-gun sound when it's agitating BUT, we have another problem with the washer. We are currently working on the video updating our 3 month experience with the washer, dryer, and a technician already came.

Bought this same washer in May 20 In January 21 stopped working, good luck dealing with Maytag! It’s almost April with no fix in sight, Repairman has been here twice w/ no fix and Maytag says they have to find more parts...could take another 3-6 weeks! They say an exchange or refund is not appropriate yet until we exhaust all repair options!!! 4 months of going to the laundromat is unacceptable for spending $1000 for this machine....

I wonder if it dispenses it even if you don’t push the button? Some washers will do a spray rinse instead of a deep rinse if you don’t push the fabric softener button.

When I last pushed the fabric softener to on, it memorized the last setting and left it on. There are also symbols on top of the panel that shows the type of water level and if there is fabric softener. The fabric softener has a flower symbol.

Hello. How do i get the water to fill up to the top ? I put the soil setting on extra heavy. And my top clothes does not seem to get soaked at all. Is there a way to fill the washer first with water then throw my clothes in ?

Wash your clothes in the bulky setting, it adds more water...

In addition to using the bulky setting, I have also used the delicate cycle and put max fill. I just make sure I don’t stuff the washer that much.

It will not fill to the top. My machine doesn't even put enough water in to wet the clothes. I tried toting buckets of water from the sink. The machine was off but sensed the water and automatically drained. It senses by weight so I have been using the soak button to wet the clothes then turn it on to cycle (wet clothes weigh more than dry clothes). Of course it drains all the water out when you turn it on to cycle and you start all over. My machine doesn't even put enough water in to wet the clothes. I have had mine 3 weeks. I am so not happy.

I just bought the one with the agitator and it doesn't even wash clothes. The agitator moves like 1" to the right and left so slow. I use powder soap and it didn't even mix the soap with the water . The water was still clear the whole it was washing. Drained water and it was still clear

Just replaced my 2-1/2 year old Maytag with an LG, unexpectedly and at great expense. The component to fix it was $350 not including the service call. The repair person said he spends his life fixing maytags and he was sure he’d be seeing us again. My last washing machine lasted 18 years with not one repair. What a piece of junk.

Hi there, when you set the water level to "Auto" or "Auto Sensing" is the water that the machine adds to the tub pretty much proportional to the amount of clothes you add in? I'm replacing my old Maytag washer that lasted 20 years and it has a manual adjustment of water level of Mini, Medium, Large, and Super. The new washers in the market have pretty much done away with those settings.

Just had the same issue with Home Depot... I think I ordered the same Maytag washer (minus the agitator) and dryer. Delivery guy shows up and refused to install the washer due to "corrosion" on the water connections which was accurate but that is just the store policy for insurance/liability reasons. Nothing really wrong with the fixtures. I did not have my connections replaced because I live in a complex with included maintenance so I have them all call to come and connect the washer when the delivery guys arrive again (because I refused the 1st delivery). This was not big a problem beyond it being a store policy that sales people should be trained to mention to customers so we can address the issue prior to delivery and not have to refuse deliveries. This seems common enough that the stores should mention it to customers. BTW... all of that wireless stuff is overkill and I hope it isn't a feature on mine even though the Home Depot customer service guy insists it is. I'd bet there is a free hack to use those feature but who has time for that... lol My salesperson never mentioned any wireless features so maybe mine is not the exact same. Honestly, I bought these solely because of the 10 year warranty and the faucet function seemed useful since I do not have a utility sink and I presoak stuff from time to time. Anyway, happy and productive new year to all!

We had to get our water connectors replaced b/c they said it was too old. We also don't use the wireless feature, it costs $$$, no thank you. My washer is almost the same exact thing is this it's brand new I hooked it up I put the clothes in it put the detergent in and it says add garment when it's still pool was closed. It never as water or says that it's sensing the load it rotates a few times and then says washing complete after like 2 minutes? Any ideas

The dryer does work good. Rey sometimes uses the steam option to get rid of the wrinkles on his scrubs. But, we are working on a video to discuss our 3 month experience with our new washer/dryer. Turn your power on, manual choose deep fill, set soil to highest, temp to hot. It will do lil washes as it goes and continue to ad water till it's full during the cycle. Problem I see is the agitator just spins clothes back n fourths. It doesn't suck them down and circle them through the water like older machines did. Clothes on top just stay on top, no suds, no way they get clean. I see her clothes getting sucked down. You'd have to wash like 5 loads to wash a load of towels with maybe 4-5 towels in there. I put in what I think isn't very much and clothes don't agitate like that...

I agree, these new washers are definitely not like the older machine. With the older machines, you definitely see them rotating in the water. This is what we understand, this is an HE washer because it’s built to not use a lot of water. HE has detergent that doesn’t really make bubbles like the regular detergents. If we placed a regular detergent in an HE washer, there would be tons of bubbles. That’s why it needs an HE detergent.

the dryer is good. i notice that the opening of the lint trap at the top is narrow. when the trap is removed, I notice some lint fall into the dryer. I use a skinny grab tool to pick up the clumps of lint that fall below.

Nurse Rey here! I have been playing around with the settings. Max fill is your friend and with underwear and shirts you have to use delicate. Otherwise, the machine will wring out your shirts. It takes some custom tweaking.

2 King Comforters,,,🤚🙌🛑 THAT'S NOT A GOOD IDEA. IF There light. Otherwise commercial 75 pounder or larger bulky items like that are no match in a top loader. Especially with wash plates or the Agipiller in this model. Dropping and lefting and air bubbles exceed in front horizontal washing machines. Less on this machines bearings . A full to seen light blankets well do . But the rollover is not a good performer in this model. One yes could handle it. Even that I still would want it to the commercial units . It is the best thing to do. OTHER wise Whirlpool / Maytag H.E. washers are good for clothes . As long as you don't over load. Jeans with jeans . Shirts with shirts. Sheets with sheets. Towels with towels. Load around the wash plate. For better uniformity. Hopes this helps. Former Whirlpool Rep. ™️

Is this a new model upgrade...? This wash has water IN. AND DOING A TRADITIONAL ROLLOVER BEING INWARDS TO THE SHAFT OF THE AGI PLILLER. BASICALLY A WASH LOW VANED WASH PLATE. The upper spiral Auger is really bogus. It is there to make sure people don't throw in clothes on top of the plate. Which can cause tangling and a unbalanced wash load. Stick with the same fabrics like my above statement. Not lite to one heavy bulky piece. Like a towel with 4 T shirts. This could hold one comforter with a deep wash button. But nothing extremely heavy like super expensive two handed pull ups lol to get you covered. Laundromat 45 yo 75 ponder front loaders. Better for your bearings. Try it see what happens. If the textiles are not freely moving or out doing a Blooming action going backwards with a large load . Then reduce. This load looks good. And if you did not select softener rinse ..it would do spray rinses to conserve water. Liquid softeners work best in water then dryer sheets. I guess i'm just too old school. To me, I just think all these digital controls around all this water is not a good match. Just bring back knobs and manual settings. Get rid of the washer in the government telling you how much water you can use. And have manual settings so you can control your own water. Just not impressed with any of these new machines especially when they wanna start tagging it As a smart machine. It's there to wash clothes. No spend 30 min thirty minutes programming it

THIS machine is HORRIBLE! With in a year we replaced water valve intake bc not enough water was going into the tub..didn't really help. All Washing options on the right wouldn't work. The rinse is high velocity with water spitting at the clothes while draining and spinning. It will rinse only if we do extra rinse. Did a factory reset and we got the right side options back. A WASTE OF $900!!!

I am happy to report I bought a washer today. I think maytag's product is good, but I bought a different brand. High efficiency washers DO NOT CLEAN. AT ALL. Maytag, GE, Samsung.....doesn't matter. The wash machines don't agitate, and don't clean. Thank God I will be able to gave clean clothes now that I bought an old design wash machine that is not "high efficiency"
