the moment when Adrian says, "Win." ranks up there as the best moments of cinematic history. to have the backing of your wife is the best feeling for a husband... Rocky II is my favorite.
@BalokLives Жыл бұрын
Rocky II is a great movie no doubt about it. I have mixed feelings on this matter though. There are great things about both movies, but sometimes I wonder if I like Rocky II because he won. I love when Adrian says, "There's one thing I want you to do for me. Come here. Win, win", then Rocky makes good on his promise in the last line of the movie when he yells "Yo, Adrian, I did it!" But the first movie is all about Rocky's triumph over the streets and his desire to prove that he is, "Not just another bum from the neighborhood." He wants to prove that he is someone, by going the distance. That was something nobody has ever been able to do before. For me they are both part of the same story and I can't really say which one I like better.

It's wonderful to see that these fantastic films are still having the same impact that they did on me as a younger man (I'm 50 now!). The writing is so rich and tight, and the performances so real, that the whole experience is truly immersive and impactful. Rocky embodies such wonderful qualities of perseverance and kindness in this story. Your commentary was fantastic too, with an obvious understanding of all of the beautifully crafted elements that make Rocky 2 an all-time classic. Thank you for the entertaining ride, I really hope that Sylvester and the remaining cast and crew get to see that their work is still bringing immense joy and inspiration. Thanks again guys, please continue with the whole series all the way through the Creed franchise, you won't regret it! Take care 😊

Based on the landmarks that Rocky ran past, people were able to map out the path he would've had to run in order to go past them all. The shortest route was 31 miles, which is longer than a full marathon. So, Rocky probably wouldn't have run the entire way in one go. But once the route was mapped out, there was a fan event/"fun run" a few years ago where people dressed up like Rocky and did run the entire way.

Actually Andrew in the 60s and 70s, they did have to have proof HS diploma, graduates were given these punch card looking things with the school crest and phone number stamped on it, they got it with their diploma. Also, someone bought this up before, and as a gen x'er I never really thought about, but think about hate mail back then, you had to take the time the type or write the letter, pay for postage and mail the letter. Those haters had more conviction than the ones on the internet now. Hating is way too easy nowadays.

Apollo had the world at his feet and thought he was going to be looked at as a great guy for giving a nobody, who really didn't have a chance, their fifteen minutes. It wasn't just ego, but you certainly have to believe in yourself to ever become champion. Apollo was as mad at himself as he was at anyone. But also he was a salesman/promoter. In fighting you may only get one chance and the next day it all could be gone. The fighter has to make ever fight as big a draw as possible. The hype is everything.

Very hard for me to rank the movies, the entire collection has so much meaning all the way into the Creed Films. Also, the films are products of their time period. For example, 4 has great moments but sometimes fills like an 80's music video. 5 is different from everything else and I like it for that, but I can see why many people don't like it. My Rocky ranking: -Bottom tier: Rocky 5 just an Ok movie but worth seeing because it's part of the Rocky cannon. -Middle Tier: Rocky 4 the original Theatrical Cut 1985 & Creed 3, really good movies but with some flaws. - Top Tier: Rocky, Rocky 2, Rocky 3, Director's Cut of Rocky 4(from 2021), Rocky Balboa aka Rocky 6, Creed and Creed 2, all great movies. I hope you react to the entire Rocky and Creed series, I will join you for all of them. Even the weaker movies in the series are worth watching. The entire series is greater than the sum of the parts and you would be doing yourself a disservice if you miss part of the story to the best series in Cinema.

Some Rocky facts! Pauly was only 34-35 when he started rocky, so he was only like 5 years older than Stallone! when he started this series U really should watch any documentary on how this got made!! Broke, almost homeless, sold his dog...for real!😮...wrote the script in 3 weeks. Was asked big money(back then) to sell it, but not star in it. He always said no. Finally sold it for 30k to ABC TV. He was good friends with and done a movie a few years prior, with Henry Winkler. He became THE STAR of😊 abc tv in the show Happy Days, as the Fonz. He heard Stallone sold the script to ABC. Henry goes to the ABC heads and says, u don't GIVE me that script, I leave the show....they gave it to him! Stallone never made a ton of money on the rockymovies. Only as a writer actor choreographer. He got ripped off by the first producer, who bought the rights and rocky name, and never sold it back to Stallone, though he's made billions! Based on a real tune up fight, for Ali. He was going to fight Frazier later in the year, for the title, but he wanted a tune-up fight. He fought against Chuck Wepner, a journeyman tomato can bleeder, who was good, but never top 10 ranked. And he damn near knocked Ali out!😮 The guy singing outside, is his real brother Frank!😮 The first guy he fights in this movie, Spider, shows up in Rocky Balboa or Creed! The teenage girl he talks to, also comes back in one of those movies! Adrian is the sister in godfather!😮😮 Stallone almost died in 4, because Drago, actually cracked his ribs, puntured a lung, punctured his heart sac! Drago in real life, has multiple masters PhD in engineering! The blonde wife of Drago, shows up in Creed 2 and so does Drago, and Stallone actually married that woman, and had beautiful daughters with her! Tommy Morrison in part 5 was a real boxer and could have been the greatest ever, but drugs and booze got him. In 3 Clubber got the role, by winning a Tough man contest! In 3 hulk Hogan, hit Stallone for real in the back of his shoulders with his forearm, and moved vertebrae. Dennis Quaid did a amateur tough guy boxing movie, kind of based on the Clubber Lang actor, that was very good, called Tough Enough! and busted his lip open! There was never going to be a 2, but this movie made so much money, win Oscars, etc., Stallone wrote a sequel! When he was accepting an Oscar for this movie on stage, Ali comes up, grabs him, fakes punches at him and says, "u stole this movie idea from me!" Paulie has done a couple other great movies, Rob the Mob, and Pope of Greenich Village! Adrian is part of the Coppola family.... Francis Ford, Nick Cage, Sophia Coppola... maybe her daughter! What 1 and 2 are really, the ultimate love story! U can go see the Rocky statue in Philly! The mistake of colors he's wearing, in the auditorium, was due to a mistake and money problems, so they kept it in, and had the dialogue reflect this! Watch all but u can skip 5, finish the Rocky series, then go to Creed! The Great fight ever... middleweight Ray...boom boom Mancini vs Duk ku Kim,... outdoors, Caesars palace. Outdoors. Went the distance. Slug fest. Kim died in the ring. He fought the last round with a busted blood vessel in his brain. Fights went to twelve after that.

Sir, may I kindly give you some words of constructive criticism? You're not the first reactor that I've said this to: React, don't predict. If you sit there and predict the key line of each scene, we're just watching you guess your way through the movie. And it ruins her reaction because she's getting it from you rather than the movie. Adrian waking up and telling Rocky to win is one of the greatest lines in movie history. And you spoke it out loud before she said it. If you had remained silent, your wife or friend might have had a crazy reaction, and we all would have remembered what it was like when we saw Rocky 2 the first time.
