I got an 03 with a different pcv system than the 06 and up and I put a airbox delete kit and jetted the carb with 85 main and 38 slow from the ruck shop without knowing the difference of the 03 and now it’s idle is all over the place it’s hard to start and after several minutes of riding it loses power and often dies and then I have to push it to the side to restart it and when it starts back up it wants to accelerate slightly without any throttle. The only other mods I have are a Ncy cdi, pollini variator. But back to the pcv system I ended up leaving the stock par check valve cover with the hose from it to the pcv located next to the airbox and I also left the vacuum line from the intake to the pcv other wise it ran even worse but I’m wondering if I did it correctly or if maybe that’s why it doesn’t run right I’ve also thought that the jetting could be wrong or that I need to shim the needle (I didn’t do that when jetting bc I don’t have the tool to take the needle out) or maybe the stock exhaust is too restrictive or maybe a combination of the three I’m sorry I know this is a lot but I can’t find any info at all on what to do with the pre 06’s
@GETlife5 жыл бұрын
Evan Davis the only difference is the lack of pcv. That's the filter I put on the device on the rear right of the bike. Everything else is exactly the same. Check that those are done properly, but I suspect you have another issue. Valve shims are likely tight.. but a dirty carb and open pair valve could be causing you problems.
@evandavis16655 жыл бұрын
GET life by open pair valve do you mean I should put the par block off plate that I got from TRS on? Because the carb is pretty clean so I don’t think it’s that.

sorry new to the honda ruckus modding scene, but what does this do for it or should you only do this after installing a part or something?
@GETlife4 жыл бұрын
It won't change performance much on a stock bike.. but once you tune the CVT and GET a good exhaust, a radiator hose intake will let the bike breath alot better at high RPM. Above the rev limiter, the airbox and stock exhaust just don't perform very well. Plus.. it'll be much easier to pull the carb and clean the jets. Anytime your bike sits without running, the jets can get gummed up.
@silas.anderson4 жыл бұрын
@@GETlife ok nice to know, and is there anyway of removing the rev limiter without buying anything, just wondering as im a teenager on a super tight budget
@GETlife4 жыл бұрын
Silas Anderson Unfortunately not. But alot can be done with CVT tuning for free if you're crafty. Find a cheap tach.. the kind that wraps a wire around the spark plug. Then take a spare set of rollers and grind the weight inside. If you can find the exact best weight.. starting with .5 gram increments and eventually .1 gram increments.. you can dial in much better performance. It'll probably be below 5.5 gram and above 4.5

I contacted the ruck shop about what we spoke about in fb messenger and the tvr intake I bought I can play with the velocity stack to change the air fuel mixture...they said to try that before I change the jets. Push it in the richen and pull it out to lean
@GETlife6 жыл бұрын
I think that's more of an adjustment between jets than a replacement for a whole jet size.. but definitely let me know the results. I've though, silly idea, about build a trombone like intake and being able to adjust it to ANY jet.
@littlejoey47566 жыл бұрын
That’s basically what mine is...next time we chat in messenger, I will send you a pic of it
@littlejoey47566 жыл бұрын
No I definitely don’t think it is a replacement for a jet at all...they claim the 78 jet works best with the tvr intake...well I mentioned to you there was a slight break up between 15_20 mph and it was lagging at around 32-35...well when you pull out the velocity stack it supposedly leans it out. Well since I did that it doesn’t break up anymore and the lag up top is gone.

My stock carb on my ruckus don’t have a air screw if I delete airbox do I need a carb with one?
@GETlife4 жыл бұрын
If you have the stock carb... then there’s a thin brass plug covering the a/f screw. You really shouldn’t need to adjust the a/f from the stock setting.

Christopher Hladky I ended up changing the fuel pump. It worked runs decent. Won't stay running until it's warmed up for fifteen minutes. Full throttle is good but quarter and half are just sputtering
@GETlife6 жыл бұрын
@@ryanhickey9201 I would definitely check the valve shims.. I've struggled with a/f issues only to later discover that the bike had bad compression. It definitely sounds like you have a jetting issue, or intake leak. If you still have an issue while it's warming up.. I'd adjust the "choke". I'm gonna try hitting you up on messenger, hopefully we can work this out. 😎

So what do the carbs have. ? Do the have pilot jets? needles? just a main jet? do they have a slide? If so is it a diaphram or spring? How many sizes did you go up and on which jets. ? If it has a needle are they adjustable? The air box delete is only half the info. What do you do for a filter? You didnt do anything but take it apart. There are many unfinished steps that you left out. I know you referred to another video on the vent tubes and breather hoses but what are you doing for an air filter now ? and what jetting changes did you make. ? The type of filter you use will have a big effect on the increase in jetting changes. . I think if youre going to imply you can remove the air box and act like its not a big deal then you should complete the demo by explaining the rest of the work that is required to make it run correctly. maybe provide a link for a source for the jets.? Then tell them what size is stock what size you used and if it worked good. Then a suggested purchase IE: the 1st and second size over stock for the main jet ? etc. I think that is pretty misleading to remove the air box and then leave the rest and for sure the most difficult part of getting the thing back running again out of the video. Giving someone who hasnt done anything like this before the idea that you can just remove the air box and a quick statement about rejetting. But removing the air box is nothing. Quite honestly most people can do what you just did. I think it would have been a little more helpful to say at the end of the video. In my other videos I take you through the jetting procedure and show you what I did for an air filter set up. Let them know they are not done at this point. And they need to blah blah blah. So they are aware there is still more to go. A quick reference to jetting isnt enough . IMO
@andrewgomeziv17234 жыл бұрын
Where is your video on how to rejet the carb. I see you are saying he should walk through that part of the procedure, and that you do that in your video but I don’t see any videos on your channel. Would love to see it. Thanks.
