Yeah, if only it was that easy. You seem to think of people as light switches or robots. If that is your standard then that's fine, but I don't think you understand how people (and guys) operate. Some people don't have that much confidence, they need a few reassurances. If you show some genuine curiosity you may be pleasantly surprised by who is interested in you. Again, if that is your standard and you want to only show your interest once then that's fine. It just doesn't mean that they are not interested in you. It could be a whole lot of things. They could be shy, ignorant, oblivious, absentminded, have a bad cold, have something on their mind, and the list goes on. Maybe they think "if she is interested, she will show me more than once". You just don't know until you find out

I'm a guy, and I've been watching a lot of your content the last couple of months. And even though your target audience is female, and I am a guy, I've learnt so much from you, because I'm starting to understand the female side so much better now. thank you for this
@ArtsyMegz_On_Etsy3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I have been learning that there definitely some differences in the male and female brain. Some of the differences in behavior can be blamed on biology, such as the fact that women have their emotions spread all across the brain, while males only have a small emotional compartment in the brain that is stored way wayy at the back, away from most other parts of the brain (sex was said to be spread all across the male brain, rather than emotions; while the female brain is quite opposite in these two particular subjects. I am really trying to understand a situation right now, on trying to figure out if my coworker is still interested in me. He has been chasing me for over a year, then amped up the flirting for a little over two weeks, and then when I return the flirts, he seemed really into it for about three weeks, and then suddenly he seemed to have a mini panic and avoided eye contact with me for two days. Then when I ignored him, he started looking at me and making long eye contact again, but our eye contact feels more awkward now because I feel like it all got ruined in a sense. And today we weren't sure whether we should look at each other or talk to each other. He seems so timid to talk to me right now, so I really can't figure out where this thing is all going, because I don't know how a guy would act if he's interested in my particular situation (where he suddenly has a mini panic and turns it all into an awkward situation by suddenly pulling away. He's probably too afraid to start flirting again, possibly thinking that I am angry at him, and so I really don't know how to read his intentions, and I wonder how long I should wait until the feelings of awkwardness finally subside so that we can have a chance at flirting and progressing again. I've been so fudgin' frustrated today that I really don't know what to think or do 😥.

@@colin4060 I would totally love some advice, because I don't have a clue what he is thinking, or how to get out of this phase of feeling awkward around each other. So far, the advice that I have given myself is to literally do nothing, and to try and not to give a crap about the situation.

@@colin4060 I would love to know what he might be thinking, even if I don't like it. @colin40603 жыл бұрын
@@ArtsyMegz_On_Etsy from what I'm reading and how I would be in such a situation, I would say, talk with him about it. Like a legitimate conversation about your intentions/interests, and his intentions/interests. Personally I don't like having to find hints and small flirts, I'd rather just be told that someone had feelings/interest in me which can then make me more confident to flirt back. Maybe he's just not sure whether you feel the same as he does. Now of course it could also be that he's keeping you on a leash and sometimes giving you attention to make sure you don't leave. I can't be sure about that because I obviously don't know this other person, nor do I know you. But the chances are really high that he's just unsure about this whole situation. And all in all, you're both adults, so such a conversation should be nothing to be afraid of. If you want to chat about it with me, hit me up on my Instagram, that talks a bit easier than a KZbin comment section 😅. So if you want, colin.brav
@ArtsyMegz_On_Etsy3 жыл бұрын
@@colin4060 that sounds fair. I am 95% sure that he knows that I was interested (I held eye contact with him for a good period of time, multiple times during my shift, and then one day he caught me looking at him and he seemed to be annoyed by it (maybe he seen me as being needy because I was already looking at him before looking at me). My instincts tell me that he felt pressured when I would look at him and do the head tilt, and then I wonder if that scared him, because maybe he suddenly realized that things could turn serious, even though I really just wanted to casually play it by ear. I feel like I gave him too much attention, and then he suddenly took a leap away from me. He and I have never had an actual real conversation before (may be a one-minute conversation) because we work in different departments of the store. I tried to approach him when he started to pull away, and then he seemed to have gotten frazzled and avoided eye contact with me because he probably didn't know what to say and didn't expect me to approach him. But at this very moment, I am not sure if he knows that I still like him, but I don't want to suddenly wreck everything by suddenly fighting for his attention when he doesn't deserve attention. I acknowledge his presence by looking at him, with a mostly blank face, but I don't maintain eye contact with him anymore and am trying not to flirt at all in the hopes that he will try harder to win me over. Should I suddenly start holding eye contact with him if I catch him looking at me from across the room, or will that teach him that I am easy where he doesn't put effort into winning my love? Sorry for writing a novel, lol.
@murielmcgregor47663 жыл бұрын
I'd love for Matt to address this: The only guys who seem interested in investing are guys whom I'm not attracted to. So I tell them I'm not interested. Then, I find a few men who I am actually physically/intellectually/pheromonally attracted to and they don't really want to invest. So I end up chasing a little until I realize that's what's happening and I stop. It's just frustrating. I have my life together in so many ways, so I want a partner who's in the same place. I've been ready to commit for years, but the men around me seem to be content with a never-ending cycle of honeymoon phases. Once they realize that they're going to have to communicate, compromise, and even change a little bit, they're out - because they can find another slightly younger and less wiser female who will go through the cycle with them all over again.

Invest in people based on how much they invest in you, not based on how much you like them. Invest and then test(measure the reaction). Give a little and see if they move a little to meet you where you are. Communicate, not chase. Commuicating is showing them that you like them & expressing your fondness. Chasing is continuing to invest in that person without getting anything in return long after the point you've communicated with them. Invest a little bit so that the other person knows where you stand, knows that you are open to a date, knows that you'd like to see them for another date, knows that tou find them attractive & appealing - this is brave, vulnerable and courageous. Chasing someone is a sign of low self worth. How could someone be that great when they are giving nothing in return after you having communicated with that person for so long? Noone can be that great.

I found the love of my life at 41. Effortlessly, going for a walk near my apartment. At the time I had become wildly determined ONLY to take a man who was willing to invest his time in me from the start, someone with similar needs and wishes. Our relationship was so easy compared to my other relationships from the start. Now we are married and have a son. He is twelve years younger than I am and I wasn't even looking for a younger man. I think you have to be very sure about what you want snd what you don't want internally. Unavailable men will just stop showing up in your life. You only have to be brave enough to stick to your standards and live your life joyfully. The right man will eventually show up for sure. It's called law of attraction. 🙂🍀

When you’ve been making most of the effort to keep a friendship going and the other person just goes along with it and never takes it upon themselves to catch up with you then it’s time to let them go and find new friends. And yes this has happened to me and I realised that life and time is too valuable to waste on people who aren’t invested in you as a romantic partner or a friend.

I have a partner who loves talking about the things we could do together eg camping, cycling, hiking, but never followed through. It was always me pushing for time to meet in person, me doing the chasing. Got stood up many times and given weak excuses. He seemed happier just chatting on the phone for hours, rather than actual time together in person. This resulted in me getting pretty angry after awhile, to which he said made him want to pull away. So I took ownership of that, and calmly explained what I would like from him eg regular catch ups, making alternative arrangements with me if he had to cancel. And guess what? The same behaviour continued. I have given him so many chances!! So thank you Matthew, my investment time with this guy is over for good. Time to make room for a high quality male.

Men don’t respond to words /anger they respond better if a woman pulls back and says nothing or says it in a calm form voice. . But there are times you have to say something. If the guy isn’t making plans then move on. It’s not your job in the beginning. Again he sounds like a teen. Be done with him!! What a jerk!

that's the first male coach i've watched who's not saying bullshit, not encouraging toxic relationships, that's really appreciable, we should just be ourselves. I've been doing all of this, 50-50, i give a little but not everything because i want to see if the guy is really interested and really going to do his job. sadly it's so rare, most of the time they give up before even trying or other guys are the opposite, too clingy, too dependent on you when you've known them for a couple of minutes. there are so many things that need to be discussed and changed in our dating habits.

As a man, this was also very helpful. Here I thought I was doing the right thing, or the best thing, but it's gotten to the point where I'm just chasing someone I've unintentionally put on a pedestal, rather than investing in someone who can reciprocate and put in at least a reasonable amount of effort even if it's far less than what I'd put in. And all that's left is finding myself just worrying excessively. Thank you Matt for this, really needed someone to talk sense into my wavering heart.

Matthew, I actually used this advice in my work relationships. It is a true game changer. I stopped wasting my time chasing certain business partnerships. It turned out that when I stopped, I realized they were obviously not a good fit for me. I now spend more time and attention with those who already see my value. Those are the right business partnerships. It’s gold. Watching your video last week enlightened me about which business partnerships were right for me right now. So, even if it’s non intentional, thank you! When do you start a business / career channel?

It's so true, you have to observe and be able to be honest with yourself if your feelings are not reciprocated. Just because someone is nice doesn't mean that there is romantic interest. If it's not romantic from their perspective, they won't pursue you after you show interest. I think this applies to both men and women.

Unfortunately we crashed the car in a cold, wet cow paddock. My sister caught a cold from standing around in it. A couple of days later Robert and I managed to have a wonderful conversation like we used to. Talking about about anything and everything. In any easy, give and take manner. I reassured him that I wouldn't be chasing or pressuring him. Telling him, "I'll be your friend or anything else you want me to be." I walked away happy and content about having restored our very special friendship. That was in September, I'll be seeing him in a couple of weeks. It will be interesting to talk to him again after he's had a chance to think.

He said to me that He likes Meeting in Real more than writing, so I understand why He is maybe not that much on the Phone. But I have a great male friend and He is very clinging and comunicates more often with me. I like that and Its ok with my boyfriend. But I wish that my boyfriend would be more Affectionate and clinging.

Based on this small glimpse into your relationship, it seems like he is “breadcrumbing” you a bit. Meaning that he is giving you enough attention to stay in your life, but not enough to truly satisfy your need for affection and connection. It is true that some people do not like to talk via text, but there are other ways to communicate throughout the day like FaceTime and phone calls. Have a conversation with him so that he knows that the lack of communication bothers you, and if he is not willing to make some simple changes, move on. It sounds like this is bothering you a lot.

Reminds me of the part in "my best friends wedding " when Julia Roberts is chasing him literally as he's chasing his bride to be...and there's a pause where she's stopped and someone says," look behind you...nobody's chasing you" people need to stop chasing, even sometimes in a relationship. Give them just a tiny taste of who you are, and let them chase you. And ALWAYS, as Matthew says, only give as much investment as the other person is investing...equal investment

But I told him that I'd hug him to congratulate him. He managed to concur that fear 6 months before Covid hit. I kept my word and gave him that hug. We both enjoyed that physical contact, but he managed to control himself. When I stepped back he gave me a wistful look as if to say the following. "I wish you'd come back into my arms." He checked me out, which is the Aussie way of paying a compliment. I could feel him watching me as I walked away. It was good to know that he still Liked me. I'll pick up with our reunion after Covid in a tenth comment.

We had a bit of a false start before he told me about his fears and why he wasn't going to ask me out just them. That when we discovered how much we had in common when it comes to our natures and some personality traits. In other ways we're very different, but we balance each other out and click together on many levels. We respect each other's differences. He observed me interacting with other people over the course of a day. I'm a warm cuddly lady who loves people of all ages, with a lot of friends. He made up for his comment from when we were younger, by saying the following. In a voice loud enough for me to hear he observed "She's nice to everyone, young and old." And we smiled at each other. To be continued in a sixth comment.
