For me, achieving god impact is a matter of using your body to pull down vs your wrists/hands for a good snap. The prior is bad, the latter is better. By the way, this is also explained by Byung Hoon Park Sensei in a video by a korean channel called “Hogu Couple”. It’s not hard to find if you want to watch it, just look for lightsabers in the thumbnail.

I think an important factor in the leg landing slightly before impact is that sure there's this ideal synchronised timing we train to do to imbed ki Ken tai ichi into our kendo but in a live situation the opponent isn't going to behave exactly as you want them to because of course they don't want to receive the ippon they want to score the ippon. Also the situation is fluid so in your example in the video the distance is being closed from both sides, you can't fully anticipate how committed the opponent will be in this moment but if you have the sen you just have enough time in hand to make minor adjustments to your maai using your ashi sabaki. I believe that's the best explanation for this. The ideal kihon versus the pressure testing situation. In Kihon you have a good idea of exactly where their men will be and motodachi is there to help you. In shiai the opponent is their to test themself against your Kendo. So you don't know exactly how it's going to play out from one waza to the next. My opinion of course. I think though that this is the purpose of shiai and why it's a cornerstone of Kendo practice.
