I've got some spare time before Christmas celebrations begin so I've decided to have some fun with my CNC and with V Carve Pro in particular.
I've wanted to try making some of these catch all trays for a while, so I figure I'll give these a try first.
This video is not meant to be a tutorial however I have narrated the steps I've taken in V Carve Pro so you can follow along if you want to make them as well.
I'll be using approaches that I know / think will work, I'm sure there are better ways but I've not found them as yet.
Tools / approaches / techniques used.
Importing graphics.
Converting to Vectors.
Node Editing.
Combing shapes, rectangles / squares / ellipses.
Tool Paths.
Pocket Toolpath
Profile Tool path
Engraving Toolpath
Moulding Toolpath

Great follow-up to the part 1! Now I need to figure out the molding path. Idea for you: Fill those character cut-outs with colored epoxy, the resurface the bottom with you pocket settings. Sand the bottom with 90, 120, 220 to get the epoxy to shine. It will look amazing!

This is a great demo of what the hardware and software can do. How would the dragon look if it were raised in lieu of cut into the bottom? Sort of the negative. I’m wondering if the sharp angles in the details would make them look better or if they would lose all detail.

Hi Dan, I like your thinking, might be worth a try. Although I've no idea how to convert it into a 3d model at the mo, there's a test for sure.👍
