Sorry for your loss. My current non-SS '65 Malibu came with a 12 bolt rear end. It was a 327, Rochester 4 BBl, Powerglide car with a bench seat and column shift 2 door hard top. My research shows that most 327 cars came with the 12 bolt rear end in 1965. The 283 and 6 cylinder cars came with the 10 bolt rear end. It wasn't until 1966 - up that only high performance Chevelle's got the 12 bolt rear ends. Either way, you've got yourself a great car. You will definitely have yours on the road before my '65 is. I'm putting a 454 and TH400 in mine. I'm going to try to keep the column shift with my car. I want to keep its potential 'secret' until I open the hood. Take care.😀

Ohh ok see the internet isn’t always correct, my understanding is that on the 350 hp 327 came with the 12 bolt, but good to know from another actual owner on some information, like I said I’m no expert I just started researching these cars lol , but we appreciate your condolences buddy 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Sorry to hear about your loss. Can't wait to see the end result for the Chevelle. I have a blue 65 as well, which is how I stumbled across your channel today. I am also in Michigan. Can you tell me what size the tires on the rally wheels are? Looks like a 275/60 15? Assuming that is a 15x8 rim....
@MMCGRACING9 ай бұрын
Thanks for the condolences, 🙏🏻and yes they are a 275/60/15 on a 8 inch rally wheel with a 4.5 back spacing.. witch if the wheel was a 4 inch back spacing would fit perfectly, this setup is a little to tight to wheel well with 4.5 back spacing
@rzfs1v9 ай бұрын
@@MMCGRACING My 8" Rallys are old GM wheels from a 70's Corvette and I think are 4" back spacing. I don't have tires on them and wasn't sure if they would even fit the rear of my Chevelle. Hate to buy tires and then have them not even fit. I may have to do some more investigating :)
@MMCGRACING9 ай бұрын
@rzfs1v I understand, I thought all the corvette rally wheels were 4.5 back spacing and i stand corrected 4 inch would make the wheel come out further to the wheel well, so for them to fit correctly it would need a 5 inch back spacing to suck the wheel in more, there is all kinds of room on the inside to accommodate a 8 inch wheel .. even a 245 60 tire on my setup would work too, there not as tall..✌️
@rzfs1v9 ай бұрын
@@MMCGRACING Thanks for the info. I just saw you posted on Facebook "in search of anything 64 or 65 chevelle". Kawkawlin is pretty close to where I grew up in Auburn. My parents are still in Bay City. Small world :)

Sorry for your loss when I first seen the car it brought me back to my high school days a guy Mike had a 65 true SS car and it was pretty much the same color but had cregars on it he blew a head gasket on the car and it sat for awhile I stopped and asked if he would sell it but no he was going to fix it I passed his mom's house years later the car was sitting there untouched well as time went by it started with rust and before you knew it it was going to need quarters and at least lower patch panels on the lower front fenders as time past by a guy down the street from me bought the car and he sold it. The drugs were his main priority that's why he's no longer around. Sad case.
