This touched me on a different level. I’ve been a follower for quite some time now, and nothing, absolutely nothing since my birth, 28 something years ago made me feel this way. I think mainly because I also went down that spiral of maximizing everything, riding the sweet spots for training, getting every ounce of benefit as if I’m a national athlete and never did things for the fun of it. This video made me feel a different way, about how I wanna live my life. Now I’m not going to throw my Garmin away and go live in a cabin somewhere with my wife. But I sure as hell won’t have 8 data fields on my watch with tons of information I certainly don’t need to know. And maybe I’ll do stuff for the hell of it, go out there, challenge myself, not be complacent. Time goes by and we’re just stuck in our routines… Thanks a lot for making me feel this way Mark, I genuinely didn’t know I’d feel this way at 3 freaking AM, watching a video from a fitness youtuber.

I really enjoyed this. It's a classic, an odyssey. Man sets out on a journey, faces setbacks, overcomes obstacles, and returns to home and wife a weary but wiser man. It's a work of art. And I am not being cynical. That final scene recorded by the drone was genuinely touching.

One of the best yet Mark. Above average isn't about PBs, it's about being able to live your life today how you want. It's about being able to go and kayak the river because you want to and enjoying doing it. On your death bed no-one will ask your best 5k time, but you'll tell them about the experiences you had. You'll tell them about all the things you did that you couldn't have ever done if you sat watching Rocky eating pizza all day instead of only doing that now and again between days moving your body around and fueling it well.

That said, I love Beau stuff's. This might be my new favorite video of yours. At the end of August, 2022 I flew from Seattle to London and paddled my kayak down the Grand Union Canal from Rugby to London. Amazing trip!! Also two things: 1) Why are you using a spray skirt on a river?? 2) Get yourself an Oru Inlet folding kayak. They fold up origami style and fit into a backpack. The kayak itself weighs under 20 pounds which was a blessing when it came to having to get out of the water and walk around all the canal locks. The total kit weighs 25 pounds which was easy to carry through Heathrow and on the Underground and trains. Fantastic bit of kit for exploring and way easier than towing a full sized kayak behind you!

I think this is the best video you have ever made Mark, totally encapsulates my mentality towards fitness that enhances a healthy, happier lifestyle. This is one of the best examples I have seen of someone who suddenly realises, it’s about the moment, the here and now, the feeling, the view, the thrill, not the speed, the time, pace, the distance, the calories burned. My love is snowboarding. To fully enjoy those two or three weeks every year I have to make sure I am reasonable/ good condition to throw myself down a mountain at speed for six hours a day for those weeks. This requires me to put the effort into my condition all year long. When I am on the mountain I always stop and appreciate the beauty of what I am doing, the people I am doing it with and it makes me so happy Mark if you ever want to give it try, give me a shout. Keep on enjoying the journey.

Honestly, this is an incredible little documentary. I always tend to compare myself to my younger years (I'm only 30 lmao), but in my early 20's in the best shape of my life just like you're doing with the other version of yourself. One thing that you reminded me of in this video was that it's not about where you were years ago, what your data is showing, or whatever. It's about the experiences in those moments and the ones about just getting out of my comfort zone more than now to experience new things without caring about what my garmin is telling me. So, I appreciate that Mark, truly. I've kind of been doing that recently with my wife, but when it came to fitness recently, I was just obsessing about the data and made me forget why I even wanted to exercise in the first place. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy most of your content for the funny phrases and information, but this side of you and the content is quite enjoyable and truthfully hope that you keep doing some stuff like this. Kuddo's to you Mark for this hell of a paddle/walk and we appreciate you filming it along the way because I've never seen anything in the UK lol! Appreciate it brotha, keep at it!

Loved the video I think my favorite shot was the drone footage of you paddling on the river and passing underneath the bridge with cars passing over you. You living life and enjoyment the moment while everyone else was going to work. Your best to date in my humble opinion.

Thank you for helping me realize what I had lost: just enjoying the moment and forgetting about the time and the statistics and the results. You’re an inspiration for many (and the comment about your Garmin really cracked me up😂, very recognizable).

A beautiful video, Mark. When you were entering the river, you could see the excitement and fun in your eyes. A great idea for a video….loved it! 💪🏻

Great video and a refreshing reminder that sometimes the stats just don’t matter. How you feel whilst you’re doing it and when you’ve finished count more most of the time. If I get disappointed that my stats have ‘got worse’ it can end up putting me off going out on a run again to avoid the disappointment, which is just a negative feedback loop. But sometimes it’s just better to forget the numbers and just go do the activity or have the adventure for the sake of doing those things.

Something quite Partridge about seeing you pull your canoe down an A-Road in Reading on a Bank Holiday weekend. Just needed to have some windscreen washer fluid and to be singing Goldfinger.

For many reasons, this is one of my favourite videos of yours. They are always entertaining (I am a very long term subscriber) but you seem to be getting more 'philosophical' and it adds even more value. Thank you ☺
