Fun cars. My parents gave me a 1994 GT Convertible back in 1999! I recently pulled it from from the garage after sitting for 9 years! I have been using this Covid-19 free time to bring my old girl back to life. 3:73's, high flow 2 cat h-pipe and a cold air from back in the day; I fell back in love!

I’ve been doing the same thing! Mine had a mouse nest in the hvac against the evaporator. Had to remove the dash. Major pain but I took the carpet out too it had soda stains. Installed some dynamat and am in the process of replacing the top hydraulic lines and actuators. 94 gt vert.

Momma's had it!!! Thanks for all info shared. TC and God bless...

I am a backyard mechanic with basic tools. Any advice for tackling an exhaust job? Especially when it comes to the headers.
@GrandTouringConcepts6 жыл бұрын
I started as a backyard mechanic and still do the huge majority of my work on jackstands and appreciate where you are coming from. I done adout a dozen full systems and several sets of headers, so I do have some advice for you. Lift height, you need at least 18" of working room under the car, use tall stands or other safe methods. Sawzall, this is critical for chopping out the over axle "dogleg" the aftermarket system is generally sectioned for easy install. Work cold, header/pipe burns suck. A cordless/air impact does speed up the job but is not mandatory. Socket set with various extensions and open end wrenches are minimum tools. O2 sensor wire extensions, if doing longtubes you will need to cut and extend or do a plug in solution. That should get you started. Thanks for commenting and hit us up on facebook or IG to share your build. - Darren

To be fair. I’ve owned an lt1 6sp f body. There was something to those cars. I think they were somewhat underrated power wise. And they had a massive useable powerband that you can’t really visualize until you drive one. It would put a lot of cars to shame even more modern ones. I could just imagine if they had spared a few hundred lbs when designing the car. It was certainly heavy
@nedaCFilms6 жыл бұрын
The 6-speed LT1 cars were monsters! They made eyeball flattening torque but what really stood out was the powerband you mentioned. Especially after opening up the exhaust and intake with a decent cold air kit like the Moroso or FIPK from K&N. They just pull and pull and pull lmao!!! I mean the suckers never stop revving. It really was a big deal back in those days around mid '90s (before the LS1 shook things up lol) I've owned more Camaros & Mustangs than I can count on my fingers and toes in my almost 50yrs on earth, and the fastest top speed I've ever "driven" (been faster as a passenger in other cars lol) was in my "bolt-on modded" LT1 Camaro Z28 w/ 3.23 gears. Buried the speedo at 150mph and the sumbitch was still pulling! If I had to guess I believe I had to hit around 165mph...….. anyway, those LT1 models are very underrated. Keep in mind that they had quite a span/range in rear wheel hp through their 93-97 run, with the earlier 93-95 automatic cars being the weakest and the 6-speed cars making more power, but the later 96-97 manual 6-speed models made some serious power. They were the underrated cars that could put down their advertised hp to the wheels. The early 93-95 automatic cars only made around 230hp to 240hp to the wheels. The 6-speed cars making more towards 240hp to 250hp. Now the 96-97 LT1 with 6-speed tranny put down more than that to the wheels and I've seen 96-97 cars with full exhaust, no catalyst and decent cold air put down LS1 numbers! I have quite a few LT1 dyno videos on my #MustangTown channel if interested.

Unfortunately when the LT1 Camaro and Firebird models came out in 1993 they beat the hell out of the 1994-95 Mustang GT as well as SVT Cobra models lol. Really had to have the 96-98 SVT Cobra models to hang with the LT1 cars in the mid '90s. Lucky though you had a 5-speed model and he had a heavy convertible automatic lol. The 6-speed LT1 cars put out quite a bit more power than the automatic cars, especially the later 96-97 manual cars. I'm a big fan of Mustangs and Camaros. I love all American Iron #V8ponycars equally, though my heart is extremely soft for Mustang lol, but honestly asking me to choose between my Camaro or Mustang is like asking me which one of my kids I love more lol. But that gives me an unbiased honest opinion of these historic automotive icons, and I try to bring that to my #MustangTown channel. Btw, where are you located Darren?
@GrandTouringConcepts6 жыл бұрын
I enjoy the historical rivalry between the Mustang and Camaro worlds, and feel that sort of thing is absolutely necessary for best development of a car. Stiff competition gives very good outcomes. Its like the on track battles between the 95 Cobra R and the Trans Am, the TA had the advantage of years more development and piles of spare parts, whereas the Cobra R teams complained of late deliveries and few parts to survive a season. We are located in Alberta, Canada and I will have GTC sub to your channel. Great discussion all around! - Darren.

@GrandTouringConcepts4 жыл бұрын
The best bet is to check what brand of headers you have, most offered a matching midpipe which tied to nearly any cat back. If you can't determine what brand they are or have no luck, most muffler shops can build something to fit. Hope that helps, thanks for watching! - Darren

Did you have to do any tuning to your ecu? I have heard that the computers don't respond well to modifications, at least not like the fox bodys.
@GrandTouringConcepts5 жыл бұрын
This modification did not require any ecu adjustments and made no negative impact to drivability. The 94/95 ECU does have a couple of odd behaviors when a cam change occurs but aside from that is essentially the same basic calibration as a Fox with a few additional perameters. Thanks for watching and commenting! - Darren
@302hobronco5 жыл бұрын
Was there any computer tuning done to get the results from the exhaust or is this all off the stock tune??
@GrandTouringConcepts5 жыл бұрын
This is all off the stock tune, before and after the MAF based system of the EEC 4 will effectively meter the additional air and adjust. The system does not require tuning unless there is a change in MAF sensor, injector size, or camshaft (driveability). There are a couple extra points usually in adding a bit more timing advance and dialing WOT fueling to that magic 12.8 - 13.3 range but it's not required. Thanks for watching and commenting! - Darren

I actually do have a question if you could answer I personally do not like this specific body style of mustangs just my opinion I love the 99-04 styles. I looked up the 99 cobra and it says a 4.6 v8 with 320 horsepower is that true?? Ok nevermind I am pretty sure it is true I just can't find any cobras on the Facebook marketplace haha
@GrandTouringConcepts5 жыл бұрын
The 99 Cobra was rated at 320 hp but did undergo a recall to address the issue with it not making advertised HP. This revision is the reason why no 2000 SVT Cobras exist (except for the very different Cobra R). Production resumed in 2001. The nearly identical powerplant can be found in the 03-04 Mach 1.

@GrandTouringConcepts Жыл бұрын
This is a bit of a challenge these days, in my application I used a TwEECer to turn off the EGR function, and simply capped the tube. There are some other resources like a megasquirt and custom chip tuning which have the function but the options are becoming fewer, and chip tuners are reluctant to make changes which run the risk of action by the EPA.

if you do a video on a sn95 it should be on the 4.6 not the 5.0. why? because 94 to 95 sn95 as a 5.0 so essentially all you do is follow foxbody engine upgrades since the are the same. useless for my 96
@GrandTouringConcepts6 жыл бұрын
Not entirely correct, the SN95 5.0L cars are far different from the Fox beyond what is under the intake and above the oilpan. Chassis, engine management, ignition, and cooling system are all quite different and because of the "same as a Fox" misassumption makes the first SN95 cars very important to the series. The 5.0L GT cars in fact outnumber (138,094 over 2 years) the non-PI 4.6L production (125,231 over 3 years,) which make the modular the odd duck out. We have data available and planned into production for presentation but since we have never had a 4.6L GT available to the project for more than a day, it is difficult to gather the hands on perspective and footage. We are on the active hunt for one however, and will bring the tech in the future. Thanks for watching and commenting, and I would be curious to hear what topics on the 4.6L most interest you. -Darren
