I’m from Ontario myself and Upper Canada is really fun to play, except for the fact Ontario for some reason is lacking resources it had in real life like Iron. It feels like Paradox specifically designed the resource spread to make industrialization harder and to make it easier for the British to buy all of your natural resources

With you on that. I’m Australian and the resource map for Australia is laughable. Fun fact: the gold rush of the 1850s and 1860s transformed Melbourne, Victoria into the most advanced city with the highest standard of living anywhere in the world.

Little known fact, the north west company also still exists, and some would argue is in a better position than the hudson bay company these days, although HBC has more "prestige" in name, their stores are struggling badly and have been in a bit of a 'death spiral' in many locations for many many years. NWC operates a lot of different retail chains, but the most widely known nationally are "riteway" pharmacy, and Giant Tiger. Their market cap is close to that of HBC (2.2B vs 2.5B roughly for each)

I beat USA as canada by splitting my army and navies into 1inf/1cav for the fast attack and 1 ship. I invaded every single state at the same time. It created one giant battle line however completly cut the USA off from trade and allowed the british to feel like they were winning just enough to stick it. Then had to save scum for the british to not give away quebec for a partially earlier peace.

I also targeted all the expensive states as even with incredibly high infamy, british protected me after the war. I was able to hover at 150 infamy until I owned all of north America. Then had to wait for it to drop before getting independence.

The ai looks at the location of your intended naval landing and adjusts strategy accordingly. In this case the best thing you could've done was declare a naval landing on NY (the location of your navy would be at the same point for most of the east coast states barring new england states). Then, as soon as you're 1 day away from landing in NY, pause the game, cancel your naval invasion, and then change your naval invasion spot to DC. Also keep the US troops busy at any frontline so that they arent stationed in DC.
