With patch 1.8 you will have to remake this because it's no longer valid. All I do is keep starving myself and my pops. The game is WAYYYYY different now.

Too bad it didn't release a new version. At least after the West Slavic DLC (relevant to Chicago and parts of Texas) they get a month of reprieve before Chapter 4, if they need that long to port After the End.

Had quite the opposite of a campaign, started as a independent count of Lubeck, Wernhard Teuton, and conquered Pomerania to then form the Teutonic Order, with Wernhard being its first master. Couple hundred years in the future, I did the "dynasty of many crowns" decisions, with my kins holding titles like "Order of Charlemagne" (Lotharingia), "Knights of White Rus" (obvious) or "Knights of Gaul" (Britannia, and france actually before I renamed them to "Parisian Knights"). Got bored of the save before I could crusade my way into forming the outreamer though, closest thing I got to holy land is a vacation spot in a form of Order of Candia on Krete and Malta, as well as some other cypriot order aka kingdom that I forgot the name of.

I think companies need their own investment pool, seperate from capitalists and manor houses. I might also help if companies had more industries or could add more industries types if they grow to a certain size.

I think your mistaken when it comes to ideology overriding living standards, alot of the time ideology follows a real problem and attempts to cure it such as poverty, a Han serf only has time to care about how well fed they are, they dont think like a 2024 college student, I think having arbitary revolts is bad for the game because before small lost cause revolts like that were handled by having an area be in a "revolt" status but not braking it off and only really bothering you with it if it was even possible for them to win, as in the police cant handle it any more. Think about the upper class people who are going to lead it, the generals, the officers, ect, their not going to want to throw their lives away unless they think there is some chance to win, this chance just makes the game more arbitrary, at lest the way you discribe it "they cant win and they know it but they try any way" sounds kinda dumb, I mean the Spartacist uprising is the closist I can think of for somthing like this which would be a small full blown revolt in a small area, but they thought they could win because the goverment and army was so weak, they would not have done it in 1910 is what im saying.

Pops should be less enthusiastic about migrating to countries where they have low acceptance, even if they have no migration controls. I started the game as america and immediately had 2 Indian and Arabic migrations to Illinois. I changed my laws to prevent this from happening but it became extremely obvious the Canadians didn’t as 50 years into the game almost every colonized province including the part that I would eventually annex was full of every ethnic group under the sun. And that was while they maintained national supremacy/racial segregation and state religion/freedom of conscience but no migration controls.

A funny thing about the patch is that it seems to be more... liberal with how discriminated pops migrate. I was playing as Sweden about 5 - 10 years into the game when I noticed a new movement just popped up. I was then surprised to see 300k Marathi pops suddenly appear in Gotaland, despite me still having both Migration Controls and National Supremacy. I didn't even set the Greener Pasteurs decree in that state. Then for the rest of the game, I had to basically put up with a bunch of angry radicals, living in squalid conditions for the next 30 years with no option to forcibly expel them.

I think one thing that would help out the companies would be if they could buy up buildings from other investors. Particularly, something like they take failing or less efficient building, buy them up, then make them (more) profitable by granting them their bonuses. it could also be used to buy up underperforming facilities and just shutter them, acting as a kind of refund on the building. To give a historical example. Standard Oil during it's rise and hayday would buy up all the oil wells and refineries it could. Those which were profitable or could be quickly made profitable were kept, while those which either weren't or couldn't be made profitable quickly would be shuttered and saved for later when they could be made profitable, or when demand rose high enough to make them profitable. If Companies are made even more interesting and become actors in themselves, with leaders and being able to interfere in politics on local, national, and international scales, then it could go further them altering their strategy for their ends. Like, one could be lead by a hardcore monopolist who tries to buy up all the buildings in the industry he can, then shutters or purposefully restricts supply to drive up prices. Another could be a philanthropic type who makes his business profitable, but tries to ensure his workers are paid the best and are happy. Hell, maybe some companies have alternative ownership structures allowing for a more cooperatively run company. Not necessarily the most historical from what I know, but could be cool, seeing companies with varying structures and organization to give them more flavor and nuance.

From my limited time playing the new patch, this tracks. I kinda regret paying for the full expansion since the EIC specifically is very uninteresting to me gameplay-wise, and I definitely thought Sikh and the other tags in India were getting stuff too. But w/e, I'll get $10 of enjoyment out of it when I eventually play Hindustan. Compared to HOI4's recent dlc price, this is fine. Bummed to hear you won't be doing more Vic3 videos any time soon tho

I agree with all of your takes on the DLC, it looks pretty mid, and just like the Brazil DLC I won't be buying it. Conversly I have just entered a Vic 3 uptick swing in my gametime. idk the silly econ sim tickles my brain in the rights spots rn I guess. I did want to shout out a Vic 3 channel that I have found and really enjoy. Its @DataTimelapses they are german and do great commentary on the data behind the game. Currently at ~1.5K subs definitely recommend their stuff!

I think it would be cool if there would be laws that dictate who can join the army. Like one model where the officers are you're primary culture, with discrimataed pops filling in the lower ranks, giving you a morale malus but you have the bigger pool of recruits. On the Other hand the army that only accepts pops with high acceptance, giving a moral boost. (Or something else, doesn't need to be morale) Additionally, could there something like "Servive guarantees Citizineship"? Not sure if this is to meme-y, but having a boost to acceptance for pops who serve in the military seems like a flavorful addition.

Honestly, I always prefer spreading my buildings out if I can. If nothing else, market access price is a good reason. In fact, I think Paradox might prefer it. Look at how buildings like the university grant qualifications to the state its built-in and admin buildings tax income. I don't know, I tend not to be super minmaxy, and in what ways I do is mostly SOL and Tech and politics and not so much conquest. Like I know how effective it is. But I am not ever conquering Beijing or Java or some other huge population state, because why in the good fuck would the country I am playing as do that most of the time? Like don't get me wrong the fact some level of change from irl history is part of the appeal, but when it comes to things the player is not causing, I prefer them to be at least somewhat reasonable or at least within the ballpark there of and tend to keep my conquests that way too. But hey, at my prefer conquering play style of subject swarm got indirectly buffed by annexation getting nerfes.
