I thought Tucker might be jealous, having to share you with a newcomer. I didn't think about Tucker and Newbee at odds over the pony. Interesting dynamic. Your content is always entertaining and informative. Blessings to all of you!🌻🐎

Congratulations on your beautiful baby. I've had horses all my life, including thoroughbreds and a Friesian but I got my first Shire 4 years ago and could not believe what a different character he has. 18 hh stallion now and he is still so gentle and tries to please. Two downsides with him...he can push through anything so everything has to be reinforced. Second thing, he has to be trained ultra gently. He cannot take harshness in any way, so it's a pretty interesting balancing act. I can't wait to see your journey with this beautiful guy.

So excited to see this journey for all of you, now including Colin! I do not have a horse and I am an adult with dreams of having one in my life. So, I will love seeing Colin have a go at it for a newer horsey person. 😅 The new pony is super cute. But I so love Tucker and Yoshi too. Wishing you the best with all of them and thank you for sharing with us…can’t wait to see the adventure 😃

There's a natural relfex reaction point for picking up the foot: Squeeze the chestnut on the inside of the front legs annd the horse will pick up his foot and you can then handle it. Also, if you cap the hock and suwwzw that's the natural reflex point for the hind legs. Makes it much easier to pick up feet that way. It may take a minute of squeezing the first time, but after a few times you just reach for the chestnut and they 'hand you their foot'. Good luck with your new one!

That's exciting! My youngest two boys adopted a 2yr old blm mustang 3 weeks ago. She is very much like "Pony Boy". Super laid back, nothing excites her, etc. So calm that on day 3, we could catch, halter, lead, pick up her feet, and load in a trailer. She's been out with our other horses since the 4th day. We're actually taking the horses to the mountains this weekend and our new mustang "Sunshine" is going with us to spend some time being ponied.

What hma did you get your mustang from? Mine was silver king Nevada and she was wild as can be. But one year later, she is calm, well trained, and I just love her. But always curious to see what hmas have the more mellow ones lol
@chalkrockranch Жыл бұрын
@@alisonjem This one came from the Salt Wells HMA. I also have a mustang from Stewart Creek, and he is turning into a very nice horse. Being from WY, I'm partial to the Wyoming Mustangs.

What a surprise! I look at horses online all the time. And there are so many that I would say - let’s go look at that one. But, my more practicalside says - take your time. You got a lot of things to take care of before you can buy a horse. But, when you know, you know. I’m so happy for you guys! He’s a cutie!

Oh my goodness he's so cute!!! I love his back right hoof and coronet that's a different color and his black socks. I have a 17 year old 16.3 hand Amish Percheron/Andalusian cross and his face looks very similar to the new cutie. Mine's a pretty chill dude as well, though he does have his moments when it comes to food. On trail he basically never spooks at anything natural, even if a deer is right in front of him. Can't wait to hear what the new guy's name is going to be and his journey with y'all!

A Percheron/Morgan cross is basically my dream horse. 🤩 Congrats! Granted you only showed a few seconds, but Tucker didn't seem overly aggressive to me. New kid didn't exactly have the best manners when they were meeting over the fence. Which is to be expected, because he is a baby, but it's perfectly appropriate for Tucker to tell him that his manners are bad. Of course, again, I'm just basing that comment off of the little bit of interaction we see here, which is not all that there is.

I don't have a horse, but I have a non-castrated male dog, and castrated male dogs tend to be quite aggressive with him for some reason... could be the same thing here. Also, other horse owners have said that (young) lush green grass is actually dangerous for a horse's digestive system, yet I see your horses grazing peacefully on what looks to me like lush green grass. Mind giving me your thoughts on horses and green grass?
@PracticalEventer Жыл бұрын
It depends on if your horse is used to eating really long green grass. If you slowly introduce them to it, or they are already on it , it’s completely fine and good for their digestive system!
@theresalauren6253 Жыл бұрын
@@PracticalEventer THX for your feedback! On that note, I noticed you said "long" green grass. Do you mean that short, young grass is still dangerous?
