I have totally lost track of which pieces are from which block. Next time you should spray paint each engine different colors haha

Doesn’t the “Sport” have a 2.5? A totaled one might be the easiest way to go. 😂 but I enjoy your journey.

Hey...very interesting videos. Questions: 1. How can I build my Fb20 engine for more power naturally? 2. Can I polish the head for a little more compression from 10.5:1 to 11:1 3. Can the intake side of the head with the groves be polished and port out? 4. Can the FB25 head use on the FB20 block?

1) if by naturally, you mean naturally aspirated, there isn't really anything that will unlock big performance gains. Everything will be quite minimal. The standard N/A recipe of finding the right flow in all areas on the engine can definitely optimize your peak power, and your power band. (too much flow for a given engine size will move the power band so high in the rev range, its basically useless) Things like: pre-manifold intake volume and resonance, intake manifold volume and resonance, post-manifold runner length and width, porting and polishing the heads, and header runner length and size, exhaust size and back pressure, and valve lift, timing, and duration, are all things to consider when trying to optimize an N/A motor for a specific powerband. To match the new air flow characteristics, a new fuel map would be needed. e85 is a great way to achieve a high octane rating, and help the engine run slightly cooler, as e85 is less energy dense than traditional gasoline, and will need a much lower AFR. Some injectors to make sure you can get all that required juice into the combustion chamber would be recommended. Lastly, timing adjustments will unlock the remainder of what's left on the table. The e85's octane rating would allow for some aggressively advanced timing without experiencing knock. This being said though, you're looking at $3,000-$6,000 in mods for what will be a 180-200 bhp motor. Will it be very cool to have such a unique FB20 that you built? Absolutely. Would you be better off just getting a WRX the second your brain thinks about more power? Probably... 2) porting and polishing heads is the process of removing the rough casted texture and increasing volume in the intake and exhaust ports, and combustion chamber. If you port/polish the combustion chamber side, you will actually see a slight decrease in compression ratio, as you are increasing the volume of the combustion chambers in the head, That being said, a port and polish is another way to help optimize flow, and unlock a little extra power. Just as above though, too extreme of a port/polish will result in the heads allowing too much flow, and the air velocity entering the cylinder would be so slow, you will see a huge loss in the low and mid range. Just remember, because of bernoulli's principle, more diameter and peak potential flow, means less velocity; this is why it becomes essential to tune your modifications for your specific application. 2b) the best way to increase compression ratio would be new pistons with a different crown shape, a different crank with a larger stroke, or both. 3) Yes! The biggest gains of porting and polishing heads will be on the intake side. 4) technically yes (i think?) I wouldn't though. The FB20 and FB25 share the same stroke, with the FB25 getting its additional displacement from a larger bore. This means the combustion chamber side of the head is larger in diameter, once again decreasing compression ratio. And just as well, I would assume the FB25 heads to flow so minimally more than FB20 heads as its basically the same head with wider combustion chambers to accommodate the wider cylinders/pistons; you'd be much better off porting and polishing FB20 heads.
