There're some of the most magnificent stone beasts ever (trust me I've traveled a lot!) guarding tombs of southern Chinese emperors 1,000 years senior to the Ming tomb, about 40 minutes drive out of city center, including the actual original Qilin (namesake of one of Nanjing's suburbs) which is vastly more lively, artistic and VOLUMIC than later versions. Definitely check them out if you'd ever gonna visit back again.
Thanks for sharing Nanjing. I've added this city to our list of places to visit in China. Do you know where you'll next? I remember you mentioned Kunming.

Another great video that I have so much to relate. Nanjing aquarium was the place I first saw and touched a star fish when I was a 9-year-old. And the lake you were swimming in is actually a infamous spot that has been known probably for generations. However, Zixia lake seems to have at least one drowning accident every year during the summer. When I was a kid, my dad took me there and point at the lake and said something along the line of "if you went swimming in that lake, I will never allow you to go out with your friends again". But, man that looks like a lot of fun. Might have to give it a try when I have a chance to go back and visit.

In videos of people swimming on KZbin in China , I notice it’s mostly elderly men who swim . I assume women ( especially young women your age ) in China don’t know how to swim and those who do know just want to avoid getting tanned because of the Chinese obsession with having extremely pale skin . It’s a pity because swimming is so refreshing and also really good for you . Also, a little vitamin D never hurt anybody . I live in Europe and here , locals of all ages and gender love to swim in the lake and are very active ( they love the outdoors ). You’ll see extremely young kids swimming fearlessly in the middle of a very deep lake . I think that’s admirable teaching your young ones to appreciate and love the outdoors from a very young age .
@kats_journey_east3 жыл бұрын
I saw some women in the lake wearing full face covers to avoid the sunlight 🤣🤣 but yeah mostly men. When I did the Yangtze River swim in Wuhan it was almost half women but still mostly 50s+.
