I was looking at a fantastic van, ripe for converting, on ebay. I sent question after question - no response. Then the auction disappeared. But never in a million years should you pay money based on a photo and a stranger asking for money and never buy in a car park or in the street - you must go into the seller's house.

it is absolutely disgusting in this day and age that people are prepared to scam others out of their life savings, inheritance or hard earned cash. It is a must you see the van and verify address details on the V5 with the seller prior to handing over any deposit. I see so much of this on eBay. If it seems cheap or too good to be true it usually is ! It was lovely to see you both again and we will be seeing you again very soon. ❤️

There are hundreds of scammers out there, with a little research and asking the right questions they can be found out, never buy in a hurry scammers will always make it urgent, never leave any deposit until you have seen the van at the home or business address, see the documents. go twice if you have to. Buy in haste, repent at leisure. Really sorry to hear that some guys are being duped by the criminal scum :((((

So happy you are picking up your new motorhome, however keep it real for non KZbin streamers. It gives an unrealistic time scale for anyone wanting to buy a brand new Moho. Our dealership said they weren’t even taking orders for this year (due to backlog) and would start again in 2023. We have been waiting 17 months and it’s still been pushed back anther 4/5 months, lots of people are still having major issues. Not that we are bitter and twisted about it! When I was looking for my van about three years ago, there was a lot of scamming going on then also, look out for where the van is photographed, if it's not on a drive way or proper looking address, then it's possibly a scam, this was the case for me but I caught them out each time, quite worrying though. @@RoamingRadfords I've seen a lot of people in the vanlife community say they have built quirky with the help of vanlifers and now the majority have been prices out. I'm all for people making a profit but charging £300 give or take a few quid is way over the top. I'm sure it will be great but less commercial events are much better. There are plenty of festivals in the UK. There is an alternative meet that has been set up at much less than half the price so people have a choice now. That's just my personal view but that's because iv seen other events that became very commercial and the core community of real people are removed. Then it's the same as any other festival. Over priced burgers and beer and vendors being charged so much that it's not profitable. Then everyone who pays £300+ gets over charged for everything they buy while they are there. That's just like every other "festival". Then people won't go again. While I could easily afford to go I won't be funding people's greed out of principal. sadly in a couple of years people will say remember when quirky used to be full of interesting and fun people. A couple of years after that quirky will be a thing of the past.

Yes I know that's cheap compared to some other types of entertainment but this is in early March, not a music festival in the summer with expensive music acts. What do you think a field and some portaloo's cost? Yes there are costs like liability insurance. The Overland show at Stratford race course in June ,which is a premium time of year (a commercial venue) that has higher running cost/overheads and higher liability insurance costs, is less than half the price. The costs for 2 people for 2 night costs £72. So yes Camp Quirky is WAY over priced.

Wise advice on the scammers Steve, but what really makes me angry is in my case I had the sense to make a 2 hour journey as I suspected the screengrab of the woman’s diving licence I.d. was fake. (scammers are so convincing). I went straight to the police station to report what I considered was an ongoing case of fraud as the scammer give me her bank details(which checked out by my bank to actually exist), to send my £3000 deposit to via a bank transfer. The police station were no help,or the scammers bank ,citing data protection as the reason. There must have been have been multiple deposits paid in to an account that would surely close down very soon. The only way I’ve found ( yes, the scammers tried again) was to tell them you have a friend who lives 10 mins away and can come and view it, and then leave a deposit. As the vehicle does not exist, the scammers will find a way to prevent such an inspection. As you say, do not hand over any money till you have seen it !!!

Selling a van or anything through Gumtree can be dangerous. A buyer will show immediate interest and want to pay full price to get it quickly. They will offer that you collect their money via Gumtree delivery - warning Gumtree has no such payment platform all they are after are your card details. Great videos guys

There are so many scammers tying to sell Motorhomes (and everything else) on selling sights like ebay and autotrader and people really need to educated themselves on the scams when looking for a new one! When I was looking there were so many and every one that I thought was a scam I reported and got removed. The most common was - I've left my wife and had to move to Scotland but if you send me a deposit I'll ship it down to you. My response is always, not a problem I have to come there next week and can we arrange a time to view.....that's when they suddenly stop responding to messages! It's not just Motorhomes though, a couple of years ago my elderly in-laws thought they were rescuing 2 beautiful rescue cats that needed to be flown down from somewhere (can't remember where) and the sellers needed my in-laws to pay the quarantine fees at Heathrow, which stupidly they did! They came round and asked me to check the flights for them. After a quick google I found that Heathrow had no quarantine facilities, but my in-laws were still worried about the cats. I bluntly told them that they had basically paid hundreds of pounds for a picture of 2 cats probably just found on the internet....that's when it finally sunk in! Never ever buy a motorhome unless you can actually go and see it!
