grew up with a step dad who is a drag car guy through and through and has a nitrous ls fox. the nitrous doesnt work by being compressed it works because nitrogen has two oxygen molecules for every nitrogen molecule. so its not based on pressurizing the intake but being able to chemically fit more air inside the engine. other than that great video man
@SpencerDansereau Жыл бұрын
I think he's aware of that... it was an explanation. He's correct in that you get more oxygen in the same volume. Obviously its not actually compressing the intake pressure like a turbo or supercharger.

@LemonMan_Man2 жыл бұрын
@@TheCarPassionChannel It did well, I also wired the solenoid to the wiper spray motor. 150 is the largest shot I would do on stock ecu. I ran nitrous dry shot in other cars, very sensitive to timing and intake temperature. Never ran a wideband, I read the plugs and went to a 7 ngk, stock jdm non egr intake, no other supporting mods no fuel pump, brand new 02s every 5000ish miles. was reliable and I am trying to find another na miata I miss that car so much. Thanks for the content. p.s. I gave a fbody the smoke and a few mustangs the smoke. Nothing crazy though lol

Hell yeah, can't wait for the new video! I got my FM turbo kit working and loving it on my 99. Just got my FM motor mounts yesterday. Soon FM motor mounts, FM clutch kit (happy meal), and torsion diff you told me about. I got the 3.9 with LSD and bought polyurethane bushings for it..... install soon. This winter....time for handling,brakes,and stiffen the chassis up more than just the hard dog roll bar.
@g19engineering142 жыл бұрын
You can buy 1000psi sensors for about $100. If you had gone with dry system you could have used a general purpose table in the ME ECU to map fuel in a second fuel map against bottle pressure. Would be much more accurate fuelling.

Why aren’t pressure regulators used on nitrous systems like this? It seems to me that that would give you much more fine grained control over the tuning process as opposed to the bottle heater by itself.
@Regape962 жыл бұрын
yeah can someone answer this?
@Grumpini2 жыл бұрын
AFAIK the bottle heater is necessary to maintain pressure as you're using the NOS because the bottle gets colder as the pressurized gas leaves it. A pressure regulator wouldn't be able to fix the problem of the bottle cooling every time it's used.
@evanb092 жыл бұрын
@@Grumpini i meant why isn’t a regulator used in conjunction with a heater?
@Regape962 жыл бұрын
@@Grumpini surely a bottle heater is a lot of extra weight and cost compared to a pressure regulator? And outside temperature would affect it also no? With a pressure regulator you could just set it to the minimum pressure the bottle would get to and then have consistent pressure, even if you put a larger jet in to offset the lower pressure
@PointBlank652 жыл бұрын
Regulators that can flow that much gas without falling behind themselves would cost exponential more. So just run the bottle pressure and "regulate" with the jet. As for weight , the blanket will be about the same if not lighter than the regulator.

@noncog12 жыл бұрын
@@TheCarPassionChannel i used to be in the 12v aftermarket industry, and currently do industrial electrical assembly, lmk if you ever have any questions. Some i wont be able to answer from a distance, but most i can. Either way, its a minor detail as the relay should be open (not passing current) almost always any way, but if the car suddenly came into my possession id still tale the time to change it, just to be sure its correct. Youre creating a risk of constant current draw that could kill the battery when off, maybe not any time soon, but when that literally ~12 cent unit cost to manufacture relay is tired of living in a hot, vibrating engine bay... And its just the right way to do it, which matters as an instructional content creator. No hate, long time sub, on my second miata currently, love your content. You stated electrical isnt your thing, it kinda is mine, so like i said, feel free to ask if you have any questions.

Does this ECU have meth injection map? Could save time by using secondary maps of fuel and ignition, by tricking that it gets 'meth'. Also you can PWM that solenoid. Like install 150shot. There are a few things I see did wrong/to change and to add. Never use the Teflon tape on nitrous fittings, also buy lots of spark plugs and figure out how to read them -2* for every 25hp is a base also raise the throttle percentage also does it have a off rpm? If not try to find a different way to control it then want a little bit on motor before shift
@TheCarPassionChannel2 жыл бұрын
Teflon tape was not used - thread sealant was used, as per the Nitrous Express instructions (not used on hose connections, only NPT fittings) -2° per 25hp is very conservative, basically every tuning article recommends -1.5° to -2.5° per 50hp, but I'll figure out what the motor likes on the dyno. Will definitely be on the safe side. No "off" RPM, but neither does a WOT switch system.
@lowndslow44762 жыл бұрын
@@TheCarPassionChannel yes -2/25 is conservative but you start conservative and then creep up on it with nitrous.
