Getting Started in 3DS Max 2021 (part 0) - Configuration after Installation

If you have just installed 3d Studio Max 2021 I recommend to make a couple of changes to the setting and user-interface. In my upcoming series "getting started in 3ds max" I am using exactly these settings. The following changes are made:
- Turn off Ribbon
- Chance System Units to METERS (customize/units setup)
- Turn ON Auto Window under Scene Selection in the Preference Settings. (customize/preferences)
- Resize the Scene Explorer on the left side of the screen
- Increase the size of the Command Panel on the right side to fit two colomns.
- Adjust the 3D snap: deselect Grid Point and select Endpoint
- Turn on the Angle Snap Toggle (Keyboard Shortcut A)
- Check if the Production Renderer is set to Arnold
- In the System tab turn ON the "Legacy 3DS Max Map Support"

For people using Max 2022, the Maps Support is now found under *Arnold Renderer* tab instead of *System* tab. Mine was enabled by default.

It is included, they only moved it to a different tab inside the render setup window (I don't remember which one right now). I am sure you will find it.

The video is recorded in 1080p and it is for Max version 2021. I am not sure how to take that comment seriously.

hello maybe is my win10 laptop machines they are 2011 and 2012 but what i meant is the text in the 3ds max ui that you display is so far unclear inspite i put the rsoltion of utube at 720 or maybe 1080p and i noticed this on many utube vids--all else on my desktop or other type of vids or apps is clear--i dont know --thxz Lisa

Sure it works! Ctrl+s is maybe „save as“ before you gave it a name and location. Then its quicksave.
