Getting Started With: Stormcast Eternals - Hallowed Knights

Video idea: Brief overview of stormcast unit types because I get lost in all the "gators". Crocodilian joke aside... I cannot remember the names of the five dozen or so different storm cast units. It would be great if somebody did a brief overview of their infantry and different jobs, cavalry, brief archetype covering of their heroes etc.

Great video as always. Would you ever consider doing a narrative focused seres of lists. For example a thematic list of Hallowed Knights to represent them during the realm gate wars in Ghyran.

Sadly I think they are one of the weakest Stormhost with really no inbuilt synergies. So it will be really interesting to see what Gardus brings to the table. Based on the fact that he is a Lord-Celestant and named character we at least don’t have to use the weak command trait. So that’s positive and we have the foundation of a Wardens of the Stormkeep battalion. So there we also have some potential and it will be good to see some other options than Gavriel Sureheart

They’re not great but, hey I made a habit of running underused and unloved armies (aka scourge privateers) I’m sure I can make this work.

@@CinderfallGaming Yeah, I think they have really good potential in a stormkeep army with a patrol and wardens. And it’s really cool that Gardus probably will be the natural general.

Books about Hallowed Knights were the reason that convinced me to AoS. I consider them the best looking Stormhost as well. But I can't agree with you here. Hallowed Knights are the worst Stormhost in the book, and there is no way around that. Command Trait that to be used requires general’s death? Really? In the supposed “elite” army? And it is not extra activation, works on 2+ and only in Combat Phase. I was shot down once by Skaven Acolytes in the shooting phase, and that was it. Only the Faithful is an insult competing to Hallowheart. Judicators are not Redeemers, and they are bad when competing them to other dedicated shooting units in this game. Liberators are the worst battle line in this game, in my opinion. 40mm unit with bad stats and protection that is nothing extraordinary today, and given that save is vastly diminish this days, I would not call them resilient by any means. First line Stormcasts were obsolete when the book was released, and the situation only worsened for them thru all those years. Sorry for my negative comment, but this is how I see things.

Honestly gonna disagree there are builds within the army that do just fine I think. There is however a tonne of deadweight.

There are a couple decent ones, the problem is they all lose to the top meta armies, Tzeentch, KO, Seraphon, and Lumineth. They're at something like a 42% win rate in tournaments, which is just beyond terrible. Even Beasts of Chaos do better!

@@Mr_J1984 I mean tournaments are only a minority of games. Love em (tournaments) but an armies performance at events would never be something I’d consider when getting into an army I enjoy the models and story for.

@@CinderfallGaming Totally get it. I play in a more competitive area, and most of my games are tourney games or prep for tourneys, so I admit my perspective is skewed. :) The models and lore are top notch for Stormcast, and it's why they were my first army. For casual games, they're great!
