Never was there a truer statement. I’ve watched an pet cat outside at night literally torture a baby bird that fell out of its nest in a bush. Brought the baby bird inside to nurse it but he was in and out of consciousness all night and was dead by morning. I was so angry at that cat cuz it didn’t even try to eat it, just wanted to hurt it.

as someone who knows a thing or two about trapping cats, first mistake is not covering the trap with a towel/blanket. the cat knowing theyre in a trap and not just a small hole makes them REALLY freak out, most ferals get violent but not batshit like that

Go to your local coffee shop, give them a bucket and they will, usually, fill it with coffee grounds. When you get it home, sprinkle it liberally around your property and over the fence and it should stop them as they don't like the smell and it fertilises the soil and make the insect wildlife work twice as fast.

For the fences you need to line the entire top of the fence with a diagonal shield about a foot to two feet long. Cats won’t jump over it. It would have to go over your neighbors yard. Or a chicken wire around the entire perimeter of the fence with post sticking out so the cats won’t have a stable foundation to walk on and won’t come into your yard. Look up cat fencing!

the difference between whether cats are okay or need to be removed is whether or not they're being kept indoors, away from the damn wildlife. all cats should be kept indoors. there should be no outdoor cats. I will not take any questions on this nor brook any argument. Anyway, the best tip I have would be perhaps using some kind of scent-based deterrent that's a bit less friendly than dog piss? but that could also hurt things like lizards. I've been using korean pepper flakes bought really cheaply from the asian grocery to keep possums out of the strawberries and cats away from my birdfeeder. but that could be harmful to insects/reptiles, so i don't know if that'd do what you want it to. EDIT: yeah youll need a stronger cage. damn. but if it's traumatic being caught in the little cage, maybe they'll finally steer clear of your yard. really, feral cat problems won't end until people **stop letting their cats outside.** but you could also trap the cats, have them spayed/neutered, and then let them go again. That way they occupy the territories so new cats don't move in, they stay out of your yard, AND they don't reproduce.

I have an *indoor* cat as a pet. She keeps my mom's anxiety-ridden dog company when we're not home. They curl up next to each other and it's very cute. Anyways the reason I didn't get another dog is dogs tend to be very #clingy. I'm happy to leave my cat alone in front of the window where she watches birds but can not kill birds. I don't understand why people have indoor/outdoor cats personally - anything that goes outside brings in ticks, and there's a lot of cat owners who don't give their cats medicine so they get worms and fleas and crap. I live in a rural area so we got coyotes and fast trucks, but it's a problem in the suburbs with intact cats and no predators. Not as big a problem as in Australia or Hawaii though.

I think You just need to connect all the stuff - noise, water, dog/coyote piss, higher fences topped with 45 degree angle nets, leaving only small holes for reptiles. The traps need to be covered and as it seems you have the tech for it to come with the alarm so You can secure them right after they are sprung. I would like to comment on the statement that said cats dont feel emotional attachment. Research has come out in the last few years that dismiss that original studys research findings. They found that cats actually experience a lot of emotional attachment towards their owners and it can be a bit comparable to an infant at times. They do love their owners genuinely but due to some survival instincts they may not as explicitly display their emotional attachment towards their owners

You can actually buy wolf, mountain lion, bob cat, and other wild animal urine to keep predators out, we use it to keep foxes out of our chickens and ducks coop. I’m unsure if It would affect cats though as we do have a few wild cats that hang around but they could just be stupid

Growing up, we had a neighborhood tomcat pissing on our front door. A motion sensor activated an electronic valve connected to a pressurized quarter circle impact sprinkler head with rapid return. I dont know if the cat got eaten or run over but i like to believe that the home defense sprinkler system beat the cat.

I might have to try some of that dog piss stuff. Our toy poodle is like 10 months old and STILL peeing and pooping inside, and now I think she’s eating her poop inside 🤦‍♂️ but we walk her for 20-30 minutes and make sure she goes outside and we reward her heavily for doing it out there.. but still piss and poop inside. Honestly the best luck my family had was planting some lavender near the entrances to our yard. Cats don’t like the smell. I think things like rue, pennyroyal and lemon thyme work as well.
