Here’s a sure fire tip for the Sabin Blitzes that use diagonals on the D pad. For Fire Dance try LEFT, DOWN, DOWN, RIGHT, RIGHT as individual d-pad inputs and it will happen every time. Used to use a programmable turbo controller and program the good blitzes in the thing.

Yes, this is true. and it works with either direction the diagonal is pointing to,, down/left can be down OR left. firedance can be left left down down right, OR left down down right right and optionally it coud also be left left down right right.... but i believe it breaks down when you try for 3 of the same input in a row, so left, down down down right would not work.

@@nicksrandomreviews Especially if using a keyboard you can't use diagonal. Best way to remember is input the vertical direction then the horizontal direction. Playing this game for over 20 years off the top my head - i know holy blast for sabin because it's good against mechanics with high defense as it's a magic attack. . Down down left for holy blast. Instead of diagonal buttons.

I never knew there was a chocobo forest near Figaro. The only chocobo forest I ever knew about in this game was on Serpent Trench in the World of Ruin. I also never knew you had to put Edgar in the front of the party to receive the discount at the Figaro shops. At this point in the game, I always had him in the front of my party regardless, since he has my favorite-looking sprite of all the party members so far. So I never realized that having him in the front was necessary to get cheaper prices.

Also I remember in the OG you could blitz by tapping if you couldn't do the move. I believe you can do it by pressing the previous direction instead of the diagonal. So fire dance would be left, left, down, down, right.

If you play T-Edition with Retroarch's achievements enabled, retroachievements made it so every in-game achievement is tracked as if it were a real achievement. Great to keep track of since they are tied to a lot of the best loot in the game.

I feel like there is a renowned grandfather clock maker in this world that made his mark by putting a liquid in the pendulum and did not affect the movement or precision of the clock. I always assumed the coin Edgar used wasn't double sided, it was a Figaro coin. One side has Edgar's face the other has Sabin's (which they show in the credit/escape sequence at the end) and people not from Figaro can't tell the difference.

Alas, that is not necessarily the case. It even comes up if you have both Edgar and Sabin in your party when you first meet Setzer, and Celes uses the same coin to trick Setzer. When Setzer sees that it's a double-sided coin, Sabin will react in a way that implies that he only just now realized that Edgar had rigged that coin flip against himself.

I mean, T edition is a rom, so I just assigned directional movement to the num pad, there are options for mapping the diagnals on 1379 and orthoganal on 2468. Having the controls mapped this way makes doing the blitz with the diagnals EZPZ.

This is probably 2.9.4. That is the edition currently on ROMHacking. What differences have you been noticing? EDIT: I was wrong, it is 3.0.5 on ROMHacking. I just popped open the read me and say that it said 2.9.4 but that was for the Japanese version of the ROM. So this should be the same, it matches what I saw. What differences are you seeing?

I could never pull off any of Sabin's blitz that involve diagonals, at least on the GBA version. But on the pixel remaster it's way easier to pull off without fail.

I always struggled with them on the GBA, as well (at least, when doing them as intended, rather than the cheap/easy way). I always just assumed there was something about how the d-pad differed from the SNES controller that simply made the inputs not read properly, but I have no idea if that was actually the case.

Great news! After you get to your 40s the confusion stops and it's just regrets and sadness. The confusion is gone and you recognize it's all pointless! Also, the Switch D-Pad sucks. It's mushy and often will misread inputs. I have no clue why Nintendo ditched the perfect D-Pad on the Wii U to go with a mushy piece of garbage. It's better than the Original Xbox D-Pad but it's very much a downgrade.
