Figaro's chancellor was none of those, though played next to no part. He's the guy who spouts along the lines, "There's no danger to Figaro!" as it sinks into the sand when Edgar flees with Locke and Terra via chocobos.

Not sure if this has already been noted; the track that plays in Jidoor "The Magic House" is also an unused track in Final Fantasy II. The inn in Jidoor uses the same inn jingle as FFII, meaning both musical tracks are technically that same title, which seems to be an intentional decision from the mod creator.

Yes, thief knife is the dancer's rare steal, same as in the base game. It was a great way to have multiple steal attempts from from multiple people by having Locke and Shadow both using Genji gloves and 2 Thief Knives equipped. Also, Jared missed the Needle Knife in Zozo. It's to the left of the chainsaw tower behind the main tall tower.

I would have to say that two things stick out as iconic and memorable in the FFVI zeitgeist. The beginning walk of the magitech and celes opera scene. Hands down my favorite is the opera scene. The music, the story, ultros epic interruptions, and the battle on the rafters. You just can’t help but get invested.

The opera scene is always so emotional for me for some reason. Really embodies the beauty of FF6. Truly a masterful piece of art. I also loved the whacky changes to the Ultros fight with the audience, that was great!

Seeing again for the first time in a while how the opera scene played out, I'd like to think that the pit orchestra was playing the boss music for the Ultros/Orthros fight as well as Setzer's theme when he swoops in to kidnap Celes just because the Impresario is dramatic like that. ;)

Relics are so much better in the T-Edition, for instance Atlas Armlet teaches Protect, Earring teaches Fire, and Lunar Curtain teaches Reflect. Also, I knew Jared would like the audience interactions in the Ultros fight.

I love watching you play the series. FF6 is my favorite, but the blatant missing of chests… I can’t, especially since it’s your favorite! Also, you’re a Treasure Hunter as your favorite character, but absolutely no talking to npcs or exploring for chests? It’s a MOD J, you gotta talk to everyone cuz things are different. Zozo tower where Terra is has two chests on each side of the room. Overall though, loving the playthrough! I wanna watch it all the way through!

9:25 I looked up the esper stat boosts yesterday to learn more about it and I saw somebody recommend giving Sabin magic boosting espers since his best abilities are magic based. So there's somebody out there that has done it and recommends it. This version does remove the stat boosts from espers though which is kind of lame I think.

You could undermine the difficulty of the game by just never leveling until you get high level espers with higher stat boosts. It made FF6 a much worse game were party members were only unique because of a single ability that you never used because you could just cast Ultima instead.

Not sure if it was mentioned yet or not but the Atlas teaches Protect and the Earrings teach Fire. Both are x1. You can find that information by looking at the relic in the inventory menu and then looking at the left side panel. It will also tell you other properties of the items, such as back row OK and the stat adjustments.

Every victorious battle is AP wasted by Sabin not having magicite equipped. I know Jared will play the game his way, but as somebody who always makes sure that everybody in the party is constantly learning magic, even if it's magic I know I'll never use, it's incessantly bugging me.

I wonder which version of this mod I ended up with. Downloaded what ended up being a pre-patched ROM and I've got a lock with like a black jacket that has what looks like a phoenix on the back, and the portrait art is closer to the Amano original. Also Kefka's sprit is closer to the amano coloring (red jacket, white skin)

IIRC when you steal from an enemy who only has a common or rare steal option, and you get the one they don't have, it just says you failed. I think the steal chance is based on Locke's level minus theirs too.

I think they made it so the chainsaw will do the damage attack if the instakill procs but would fail. If so, that's a really nice quality of life change. I always used the drill instead because I hate using attacks and abilities that fail.

The lyrics are all in Japanese, but it still sounds amazing! Translations are easy enough to find, too. ^^

I am sure it's been said before, but the theory is that the coin isn't 2 headed the way game portrays it. It's a commemorative coin for the princes of the kingdom, Edgar and Sabin. One side has Edgar, and the other Sabin, but since they are twins, people can't tell them apart.

I loved this episode. Back in ‘94 I was 13 when I played this. The opera scene was so epic and advanced. I think the other amazing game that was out this year too was DKC which blew my mind and I remember thinking “wow if this is what video games are like NOW(94) I wonder what they’ll be like when I grow up..” 🤔 😂 Thanks for the nostalgia trip Jerd! 🫡
