Hi Ants I do not understand: Do you will build ONLY a huge carport for your Bobcat, Tractor, … AND / OR also a huge storage building for your fire-wood? How ever i have 3 Tipps you should think about: 1. Tipp for Carport: Make it high enough. So that you will not have problem in future if ever you will have bigger (higher) working machine. 2. Tipp for Wood-storage: I would plan 2 doors. So from 1 door you put the wood IN and from oposit door you take the wood OUT. So your „old“ (dry) wood is allways ready to get. And the „New“ (wet) wood you move in from oposit side. So it has time to get dry. Get what i mean? 😁 Like that it will make your work much easyer. 3. Replant trees: What about if you replant Douglasie tree. It‘s a tree from Canada and it grows much faster, then trees you have in your area.
@Ants_Pants

Hey Thomas, thanks for the tips buddy, all area great ideas. I will replant (and have done so for the past 4 years) about 1000 trees per year, so far iv chosen between pine and spruce, but i think i will go with birch in 2023

Loved the three tree drop too but also the 'dancing on ice' with the Soviet tractor - awesome. Your neighbour's land is totally exposed as he has denuded it of forest. I think you remarked previously that you you replant the forest area regularly and that is great to know - the harvest of lumber for your lifelong projects will never dry up. The running repairs to machines and mechanisms must be frustrating at times but you meet all the challenges with that fantastic problem-solving brain. And an occasional 'crrapp'. Interesting vid though Andris.

It is an excellent idea to sell the firewood you have left over. It can be a source of economic income. And making cages to store them, that customers can return to refill, is very interesting. I think it's great that you do a sustainable felling of trees. It's wonderful to be able to live in a forest. Indiscriminate logging does nothing for the environment. You have extensive knowledge about the types of trees that surround you and I learn with you. Thanks! This will be a good year for new and interesting projects. I wish you luck! Your channel material is fantastic; it's like watching a good television series with elements of a reality tv show, sitcom, a makeover show, lifestyle, documentary, and everything in one package, it's great to see your subscribers more than double in only 11 months. Well-organized supply chain and job structure, especially, the combination of the soviet beast and the excavator, is a deadly combo. It is remarkable how efficiently you use trees, nothing is wasted, it is like the best practice not to burn trees but to make some construction material and leftovers burn for firewood or sell. You also have a strong understanding of physics. I'm curious whether you have any physics or math background. Excellent work.😁

Great video my good friend!! I LOVE watching that old tractor and excavator work, im excited to see some maintenance videos also. I wish I was there to help you fix the bobcat!! It’s probably somthing simple as the switches, broken wire or a blown fuse, the switch just operates a solenoid on the hydraulics. Check all the fuses, check the wires and contacts on the switches. I know you can figure it out and if you need any help with it I’ll help in anyway I can. Stay safe buddy take care

A few thoughts for you Ant, Run lower tyre pressures = better grip. Load the foreloader for front end traction, the camera is not heavy enough. Use double chains on the log so they are underneath and the hydraulic arms lift the front of the log clear of the ground, weight transfer and less resistance. Bobcat electrics... probably wiring faults or stuck solenoids. Start at the Aux service solenoid plug and see if there is 12volts going on and off with the cabin switch. Looking forward to the build of the tractor shed and every other project you do.

you could also chainsaw mill the odd logs or just free hand cut the sides off to make it fit :)

Yup it's an option. Would need a new chainsaw though, the longest bar that goes on my current saw is 50cm

That surely was some precision logging, my friend! I have never seen 3 trees cut together that way. I have had the great shame of dropping a tree on my neighbor's fence. Luckily, I was able to fix it before he came home - but there was still great shame. Keep up the good work!

Pretty interesting to just try to drag the tree behind the tractor. We always hooked the trees up to the 3-point hitch of the tractor and slightly lifted them. This gives more weight and traction to the tractor, and less dragging surface for the tree on the soil. But i guess your little blue monster can't lift enough on the 3-point hitch for that to work? Our little 50hp Fiat was able to lift around 1.6 tons.

When you were looking at that hill and asking if the T40 would climb it I got reminded of the time our T25 had to climb a 45 degree angle hill out of a ditch with 2,5 tons of wood in it. 2WD mud and all still somehow made it and it continued to do so for 5 more times!

Ant, that pile of “too hard/big to cut” logs had me thinking. Why not use your chainsaw to cut nice slabs across the logs?. You could open up yet another side business of making beautiful natural slab side tables, benches, etc, out of those slabs. In your free time, of course! Just something to consider as a sideline to make some cash out of all that beautiful wood. Cheers as always from Australia. 👏🏻🇦🇺🦘

Plenty firewood that you don’t have to split brother! 🤙🏻🤙🏻 I was thinking that with your skills, you can build a grappler for your skid steer brother! I love watching your fabricate stuff my friend, being a fabricator for 37 years myself! Can’t wait to see it Andris! Check out the grappler Andrew Caramata bought for some ideas Andris, message him and ask what he paid for his grappler! Just an idea brother!

Hook your chain up short enough to be able to pick up one end of the log. You'll be pulling less log on the ground and putting weight on the rear wheels. Have fun.

Thank you for sharing. Glad you understand about the barber chair. If you are having trouble with your directional felling, once you have your knotch completed, stand where you want the tree to fall and look back at the notch. Is it perpendicular to where the should fall? If not, make adjustments so it is.
