Thank you. I love the tutorial. I'm doing my first aquascape. I grow indoor philodendrons and aroids and much prefer liquid fertiliser in regular small doses to a rich soil. So I'm going the same route with my first aquascape since it's already my style with pot plants and moss poles. This was very affirming. Cheers.

Fantastic. I’ve just realised that my one pump per week of tropica premium in 25l with 40-50% weekly water changes probably isn’t enough. I use aqua soil, root tabs but I guess having column feeder plants like hornwort and some others aren’t getting enough nutrients. Some are melting which I’m not sure is because they’re new or underfed. I will soon find out. I’m now going to do 2pumps per week and see how I go. I may increase it. Algae is a small problem but it’s mainly in the tank closest to the window. So that makes sense. Fingers crossed the increase in nutrition does the trick! Fabulous video. Thanks so much 😄😄

Hello George, Smashing good video full of very informative knowledge. I have been following your advise given in this video now for two months and my plants have exploded with lush healthy growth. By far this current tank I have is the most heavily planted tank I have ever had. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and passion with all of us, it is highly appreciated. And also, wanted to thank you for your service to your country. I myself am a retired military member. Served in the Army and Navy. So I can relate to your sacrifices and challenges over the years. In the Army I was in Mechanized Infantry and in the Navy I was a diesel mechanic. Again thank you for sharing with us. And may God bless you always. Very Respectfully, Carlos A. González

Your Aquascaper 1200 is a joy to watch, and thank you for this very informative video. The fertilizer I use is the one you use a lot in your videos; the liquid Tropica Specialized Nutrition. I use 1 mL every two days for my Dennerle 30 L aquascape, with two 50 % water changes weekly. This tank is stocked with amano shrimp and pygmy corydoras, and is full of several species of anubias, bucephalandra (green and purple), microsorum pteropus, java moss rotala H'ra, banana plants, marsilea hirsuta, limnobium laevigatum, hygrophila siamensis 53B, and salvinia auriculata. It's like watching a jungle. I also use the same liquid fertilizer for my five liter planted vase, where I feed about 0,2 mL daily. The plants in there are hemianthus micranthemum, some rotala H'ra, and salvinia auriculata. This one gets a daily water change because it is only a few days old. My big goldfish tank is full of anubias but there is no need for fertilizers in that tank, obviously. I have watched many of your videos and picked up your recommendations to use in my own aquascape, and I am happy to report that there has never been any issues at all in the tank. Not a single algae spot anywhere to be seen. Happy days :D

I have a high energy 26 gal tank with high light and co2. It’s heavily planted with stems and various mosses ferns and Buce. I dose 4ml of Tropica Premium every day and an additional 2ml of Specialized every other day. I’ve noticed my plants are doing much better and growing well and showing their best colors. I am fairly well stocked with fish so I do a 25% water change mid week and a 75% deep clean on Sundays. I also use some floating plants

Excellent video. I’m having reasonable success in a low-tech heavily planted Oase 85 StyleLine using the German Dennerle all in one system, (V30, S7 & E15) including their Dosator , which delivers a study daily drip of the all in one fertiliser V30 via an osmotic membrane. FWIW I used only Tropica plants and followed there App’s instructions, which recommend 30% of water changes and cautious fertilisation in the first 90 days. (BTW Thanks for the disclaimer about your involvement with one of the AIO companies, as in some videos it can seem that you’re promoting this brand and approach, ahead of others. But maybe that’s my perception and not others.) Further videos on your low-tech set ups would be much appreciated.

George, thx for this video and your story :) I'm struggling with plant grow and their health right now. I'm moved from salts into all in one fertilizer and I made it wrong, trying to do lean dosing. I ended up with plants losing leaves, old leaves algae issues and such. I was actually planning to limit a lights for a couple of days and stop fertilizing at all during this period. Excellent and comprehensive video guide, thanks for sharing George. In my 7 month old 60p aquascape I'm currently dosing ADA Green Brighty Neutral, ADA Green Brighty Iron, and ADA Green Brighty Mineral 3 pumps of each everyday, dosing right after the lights come on. I've always had great results using ADA ferts, finding a mix that works for my scape and plants I'm using and adjusting as it ages. I have wanted to try a lot of the all in one products you talked about here but I currently live in Shanghai and don't have access to any of those. All of the all in ones I've tried here I wasn't getting great results so I moved to ADA ferts as I can get them direct from an online vendor for a pretty reasonable price.

Love all your great videos, I get to learn a lot with them. Albeit, you focus two different, common situations, either you have massively planted aquariums with a few fish or the opposite, not so many plants and loads of fish... My doubt is, in my case I have a massively planted aquarium with quite a lot of fish. My aquarium is 300 lts. (already deducting the gravel), and approximately 50cm depth of water column, I have a Twinstar 120B LED, CO2 injection and a Twinstar Yotta Plus sterilizer. The biggest fry is composed of cardinals, then have smaller groups of Rasboras (Mosquito, Chilli, Exclamation dot and Emerald dwarf), also Threadfin rainbow fish (my favourite), Spotted blue eyes, Oryzias woworae, Pencil fish (Nannostomus beckfordii), a few Otocinclus, Rosy loaches and striped and dark kuhli's. Also have a couple Bamboo shrimps, Amano shrimps, Red Cherry, Yellow, Orange, Green, Blue Dream, Babaulti, Crystal Red, Tiger Blue and Blue Bolt shrimps. Also have snails, Neritina's, Taia naticoides, Clithon Corona and Planorbis. Plants I am more successful with are Cryptocoryne's and most Moss varieties like Christmas, Nano, Creeping, Flaming, etc. Not really successful with red plants, already tried Ludwigia's, Rotalas, and so on. Already increased light, tried a few brands of fertilizers, Tropica as well, both types, the green and yellow ones. Also tried the Tropica pills you place under the gravel. Is it feasible to inject liquid fertilizer in very small portions directly on more demanding plants? In the gravel underneath those plants I mean. I'd really appreciate some advice regarding this situation (lots of plants and fish). Thank you so much and keep making all these wonderful videos. ☺️☺️☺️

Interesting. I started two tanks up October and December 2021. I've been using lean dosing method for both tanks since startup, inert substrate with root tabs in both. I found initially growth was good, but then flat-lined as algae growth ramped up. The livestock loads of both tanks are very low so I'm not counting on any natural ferts. I do use Easy Green which does recommend dosing twice a week for Medium-light aquariums, I was dosing one pump a week however. I'm going to switch it up and try the daily ML dosing instead since I monitor the tanks daily anyway.

Lets say I use this all in one fert, usually my tank consumes phosphates faster than nitrates, so with that said don't the all in one will double my nitrates? and maybe other nutrients that are not consume? I mean this all in one must be use with a really stable tank right?

Hi George, great video. Due the many choises, at last here in Holland, brings it back to the basics. In my main tank I use dennerle soil and a fertilizer from a local store, working great, but not to be happy about. In my two scape tanks, heavily planted with tropica plants I am testing the ADA system. Works really great, plants looks awesome. But ADA is very expensive. So when all is finished I have decided, some time ago, to switch to the tropica system, with nutrition capsules also. Thinking to add some extra Iron for the red plants. Thanks also for point ing out the D&D some time ago. Works great. Keep on the good work.

I have a relatively new setup. 10 gallons, heavily planted and fairly large fish load. Ive used 1 inch of organic potting soil , a layer of locally sourced humic material consisting of leaves from a fresh water mountain stream and capped with 2 inches of local lake sand. The aquarium basically feeds itself with all the naturally occurring life introduced by the leaves and the lake sand i have chosen to use and I rarely feed the fish. I have zero nitrite and nitrates at this time. Would it still be beneficial to add a liquid fertilizer on a daily basis or would they already be getting enough nutrients ? Would using a liquid fertilizer result in too much iron or other substances building up over time as i do not have to do water changes due to the functioning ecosystem within my tank ?

Great video. Until now, I used separate micro and macro from Green Aqua, but I got Tropica all in one fertilizer for a new aquarium. We are interested in how you dose the liquid fertilizer, once a week when changing 50% of the water, the entire prescribed dose, or do you spread the prescribed dose over several days a week ? Tropica says to dose 6ml per 50 liters of water all at once when changing the water and it lasts for a whole week. What do you recommend?

Hi George i have anubias in my tank for the first time and they are melting away, it doesn’t look like a fungus eating away at it, is it possible that my dosing of liquid co2, seachem flourish, seachem flourish premium isn’t sufficient for them? I had them planted with the thick stem above the soil and they where doing great, but i read if they are on rocks or wood crevices they grow better? Is it the change over thats killing them or is my dosing incorrect, i dose daily btw. Thanks so much for your videos its super informative

I don’t use seachem Flourish but really, I don’t think it’s bad. A product that engineered by a big company with good people is bad?????

@@not_ur_senpai866 diluted? They use concentrated formulas so that you don’t have to use as much. Even if you spend a bit of money in the beginning, it should last you way longer than with Tropica for example. Filipe Oliveira has a video on this, and even though he only uses Flourish and Flourish Advance whenever he’s away, it’s perfectly fine and you can adjust each nutrient accordingly as they have individual bottles for each of them.
