Superfish Home 60 - Week 1

Hi all,
This is a Superfish Home 60 aquarium that I aquascaped one week ago since filming.

Nice setup George. I removed the internal filter in mine and added an external Eheim. I was a bit worried about the lighting being too weak, but have had remarkably good results so far. Thanks for the vid!

HI George i have just bought the superfish home 30 and the super fish qubiq 60 i am using a co2 kit from DENNERLE PLANTS its a new one they have brought out the bottle come with a powder in it you put 3 00 ml hot water in the bottle shake the bottle for one min leave it over night till the powder turns to gel then put 200 ml of tepid stir it up till its mix well leave 5 mins then pore it into the bottle it gives me 60+days would a need a non return valve on the pipe work and have you ever tried this kit out sells for £22 i cant find any reviews on it great video and a nice scape

hi George, really like your scapes. question: doesn't the added co2 lower the ph even lower then it already is due to the soil. I've got the same soil and am a bit worried about adding extra co2. thanks.

Hi George. Really enjoy your videos. Great advice and all your aquariums look amazing. i bought the white version of the superfish home 60. how long did yours take to do fishless cycle? mine is taking nearly 3 months. In my tank i have tetra complete substrate, with sand on top about 3" deep. have some plants,stones and some drift wood and moss balls. added aquarium ammonia to start cycle, nitrites and nitrates went off the chart, ammonia now gone but nitrite is at 0.1ppm and nitrate has dropped alot it has been like this for a month now. any suggestions will be much appreciated. thanks. jon.

Hi George, Fantastic looking scape. I have a couple of questions. I'm currently looking at buying the Home 25, to keep a betta in. I have been keeping marines the past 5 years but would love to get back into fresh water and set up a nice planted tank. Would you recommend going for a Co2 kit straight away? if so what would you recommend? Also have you used the Colombo flora grow carbo? is it any good? Many Thanks Matt.

+Matthew Hull Hi Matthew. Thanks. CO2 isn't really necessary because the lighting is quite low but it will help plant growth. A good alternative is the Flora Grow Carbo

What type of filter do you use? is it the Aquaflow 200? or Aquaflow 100? because i think the Aquaflow 200 is a bit to powerful for the home 60 Aquarium.

Hi George I have a question on new tank with a few plants and fish would u change the water like u mention frequently the 1st few weeks if u r just using a standard substrate as most recommendations are to change after 2 weeks or even later to allow bacteria to form? I would like to change the water as my tank looks yellow from the tannin from the bogwood. It's been 12 days since starting the tank.

Hi George I'm getting the 40 litre soon housing it with dragon stone, bogwood and live plants with thinking 2 adf and 6 neon tetras. The filter that's with the tank is that good enough with the crystal clear cartridge to keep water pristine with weekly changes or would you recommend a different filter love the video's and your amazing scrapes

Sadly the co2 bubble disc isn’t as good as you portrait it here. The fact it is removed posses a problem. After short time the silicon lining around the disc becomes leaking and the bubbles will go around the disc rather than through it. Had this product and moved back to normal glass diffusers.

Great feedback. Now I use the Neo Diffuser by Aquario, which are a sealed unit with superior micro bubble production 👍

Videos have helped a massive amount in setting up my first proper tank (the same home 60 here) so it's much appreciated George, trying to find out lighting output so I know what plants would suit and also if I should go co2 or not, would you class this as low tech/level lighting (unsure of PAR on this tank and no info available) thanks

The lighting is low-moderate. CO2 and good ferts will help a lot 👍

Hi George, I have this tank with internal 200 filter (recently purchased). Should the filter and tube be fully submerged? Currently my filter is sitting just above water level. Also could I buy a larger filter for the tank like 400 will it fit? Thanks Lee

hey George here i am again. i wonder if you could help me. since i have the superfish home. all the plant i buy won't survive. even a cabomba won't survive in it. i really want to aquascape and thats why i bought this aquarium. but since i got these they won't survive. i had a huge trouble with fish to but that finally works. i give them co2 and sera florena.

A good bacteria supplement will save a lot of long unnecessary cycling, nowadays you can cycle in a week, done it many times now without any problems.

What make is the 3 in 1 diffuser? Also what shops could you recommend in Cambridgeshire as I'm about 25 miles from there but only know of maidenhead stores.

Chris Southgate Hi Chris. The diffuser is Colombo. I recommended The Waterzoo, Peterborough, and Maidenhead Aquatics in Huntingdon (my local store).

Don't buy this superfish home, i have one. light to weak, you have to remove the filter, you can't clean the side good. Dennerle are much better!
