Couldn't figure out why my blower wasn't working until I watched your video and realized that the temperature sensor was not getting triggered. I was almost out the door to head to Home Depot to get a new rheostat and if that failed, to buy a new blower (least expensive to most expensive process of elimination homeowner troubleshooting methodology). Seeing you heat up that sensor, I realized there was a 3rd variable, and maybe I wasn't giving the sensor enough time to heat up even though I waited 15 minutes. So I waited longer instead of going to the hardware store and the blower kicked on. For some reason my sensor really needed to get hot before it triggered the switch. Thanks for saving me an unnecessary trip and unnecessary replacement of parts that didn't need to be replaced. If my blower does go out, I'm headed to FireplaceBlowers.

This just happened to me. I ordered a fan, not thinking anything of it. My builder didn’t take the time to wire the auxiliary outlets underneath the fireplace. Luckily, I saw this comment and didn’t spend any time actually trying to install the fan and wondering why it didn’t work.

Looks like a great accessory for my Heatilator fireplace. We have only lived in this house for 14 years with no fan. One question. My homebuilder installed a fan switch next to the fireplace switch on the wall. That switch leads to a receptacle at the bottom of the fireplace box near where the fan would sit. Is it okay to plug the fan into that switch?

I just bought a house that has a gas fireplace. Tested it and it lights and after ten minutes it turns off and the blower never runs. What could be the problem?
@fireplaceblowers Жыл бұрын
Ten minutes may not be long enough for the thermostat sensor to get hot enough to trigger the blower. If the fireplace is simply turning off after 10 minutes, this is indicative of something else. Could be something related to the pilot light assembly like a defective sensor / thermocouple. Could be a defective high limit switch or other issues as well. You can always bypass the temp sensor on the fan kit to ensure the fan is operating normally. Once you figure out why the appliance is shutting off, I'm going to bet the blower will begin working again, since it will have ample time to heat up and trigger the snap disc on the fan kit. Hope this helps! Regards, Jason

How would this work in a 2 sided, see through heatilator fireplace?
@toddjolly32843 жыл бұрын
Will the thermal switch work mounted on bottom as in video if I have a stone brick bottom which lays on the metal bottom. My fireplace is a coleman, wood burner, with a gas log ventless insert set. Which is currently sitting on the fire brick bottom base, I have no heat reaching through the bottom side of fire brick so how would the thermal switch get hot enough to kick on? Could I bring the thermal switch up and mount to bottom side of logs next to the logs thermal probe?
@fireplaceblowers3 жыл бұрын
Great question. In these cases, the brick acts like an insulating layer, especially when the fireplace has been converted to gas. So what we'd typically do in your case is mount the sensor on the top of the fireplace and secure with either a magnet (like in the video) or even a couple of sheet metal screws. Really just depends on the style of sensor you would need. When we do this, we like using a high temperature rated wire through, since it needs to be loomed down the side of your fireplace. Give us a call directly if you have any questions! Regards, Jason

Can I use this to add to my kodiak wood stove fireplace insert?

Nice video. Question: Do you leave the variable speed control (knob) at a certain speed AND in that area? Or should the speed control be mounted outside of the fireplace? If the latter, I would have to drill a hole in the exterior of the insert.
@fireplaceblowers2 жыл бұрын
On the most of the Heatilator fireplaces that use the GFK4 blower kit, the speed controller is mounted inside of the fireplace below that lower panel. Doesn't exactly make it easy to access, but that's normally where it's installed. We've seen folks drill holes on the outside of the panel so that the knob is outside, but before doing that, make sure you've got a flat space to mount the controller. Call us at 262-989-4883 with any questions. Regards, Jason

My natural gas fireplace has 4 vents on the side and controlled by a switch. When I turn it on, I can hear the fan blowing, but the air coming thru is always cold. Looking up into the fireplace, I guess the heat is captured way up inside the flue? Seems like a blower directly under the fire is the way to go, but how to get electricity?
@fireplaceblowers7 жыл бұрын
Hi Adam. I would encourage you to call us directly so we can go over your fireplace in more detail. The make and model of the fireplace will certainly help. In most gas fireplace setups, the blower is installed below the fireplace and circulates air up along the backside of the fireplace. If your blower has a different configuration, then that may explain why the blower isn't circulating heated air. 262-989-4882. Regards, Jason

I own a lopi and the blower looks exactly the same. Do you supply to LOPI? I turned the blower and it does not seem to work. I guess it turns at certain temperature. @fireplaceblowers6 жыл бұрын
We don't currently supply to Lopi, although we're currently redesigning several of their kits and blowers. The problem you're describing sounds like a thermostat issue, so that's where I'd start first. Give us a call if you're still having issues!

@fireplaceblowers8 жыл бұрын
+jhomstad77 Sorry for the late reply. The OEM Valor 755CFK Circulating Fan Kit is closer to our GFK-160 fan kit. There may be a little retro fitting request to make it work, but the GFK-160 could possibly work as a universal replacement. I believe the blower kit on your fireplace is mounted through the rear of the insert, which also presents some challenges if the fireplace is already installed.

@fireplaceblowers8 жыл бұрын
+Dave Danish Not always. The GFK4 blower specifically is 12.5" long, so you'll need to make sure that you have enough space to accommodate it. It's also 3.23" tall on it's shortest side, which could limit installation on some models. It's always import to check height clearance and horizontal clearance at the rear wall of the fireplace, which is where most of these blowers are installed.
