i need to replace my blower fan and ordered it from you guys but the wires on the fan are red,white and black, my question is how do i connect them to my black green and white wires on my outlet cord(switch).

I notice that you didn't put the bottom grate back on, when demonstrating. Isn't the grate in the way of access to the variable speed control? I am assuming that a remote control , if available, would only work for on and off, not speed adjustments, or is that incorrect? I can forsee that I would not want to leave it at one setting, but might want to be easily adjust it, depending on our heat needs at any given time. And.. My fireplace grate on the bottom, would have to be removed every time I wanted to adjust the speed. (not to mention, a wall mounted would be so much easier for us old folks to get to!) Assuming that the remote doesn't control the speed, could the wires to the variable speed control run thru the wall, and be placed on the wall next to the fireplace , similar to a wall switch? or do you have an alternate suggestion? thanks for your help, and excellent video!

Typically on the Monessen fireplaces, there's a vanity plate behind the lower access panel where the variable speed control is installed. You're correct to assume that the lower access panel needs to come off in order to control the blower's speed. If you have a dedicated wall switch for the blower, we can use a wall mounted variable speed control instead, which gives you easy access to the control. It merely replaces your light switch, so need to run wires to the blower. It works like a standard light dimming switch and reduces power to the blower, effectively lowering it's RPM speed. So often times it depends on your home setup. And yes, a remote control can be added as well, but most of them do no control the blower's speed. They simply control the fireplace's on/off operation.

Could be a few things wrong if the blower doesn't come. Either the outlet doesn't have power, the rheostat is either not in the ON position or is defective, or the thermostat is defective. Great questions. Assuming your fireplace will accept a blower, adding one improves the overall heating efficiency of the fireplace. In some cases, the improvement is significant. @@fireplaceblowers that's great info! I just fired it up for our first time and it is a bit foggy behind the glass. I don't think that the previous owners fired it up once. We have the same fireplace in the living room, too, but the ignitor isn't working. The one in the master bedroom works fine but that is the one that seems foggy.

@@yetijoeyetijoe The fog will likely clear up after a good burn. Igniters, depending on the style of igniter, could be a pretty easy fix. If you have the push button Piezo ignition, that's a simple and cheap swap.

My directions say to first turn off the gas and electricity. Do I just turn off the gas nob that is inside my fireplace?

hello, i have a wood fireplace (inserted) without a fan. i have 2 holes in the inside area room, one at the top and one at the bottom, below the fireplace stands. The "box" that the fireplace is built in, has high 2,60 metres. My question is, if i will install a fan blower at the bottom connected with the hole below (to take air from there), it could be efficient and taking out the hot air from the top hole or it is too high? My next question is, how many degrees do these fans can hold, and are the wires can hold so many degrees? thanks

All great questions and I apologize for not answering this sooner. In your case, I would suggest giving us a call directly so we can go over your setup in more detail. The motors are all Class H rated, but high temp environments require high temp wiring as well, so your setup may be a little different than most.

I need some guidance on replacing a GFK4A fan in an existing gas fireplace. It appears I'll need to remove all gas lines and the valve regulator, etc. Is this most effective manner? sf

Hi Steve, sorry for the late reply. In most cases where the GFK4 is the correct blower kit for your fireplace, there's no need to remove any of the gas lines, controls etc. If you know the model number of your fireplace, let me know and I can always confirm the GFK4 is correct.

It's a part number reference that was originally used by Monessen Hearth Systems. The "BLO" literally means blower and the "T" stands for thermostat, which indicates that the kit includes an automatic temperature sensor.
