Still total garbage, but you right and I was also about to complain about Gman getting it wrong.
@AtsukoR336 ай бұрын
@@shivalah Not really, it's not a bad mechanic because on the hardest difficulty, it's essential to heal as little as you can, as being RED/DANGER will insta-kill you upon taking damage. So keeping atleast 1 bar on WHITE, saves you from dying on the hardest difficulty, as taking damage when you are full health will almost take off half or even more of your health anyway, so it's not handy to stay full health the whole time since you can lose it all so quick. I exclusively play this only on the hardest difficulty so these things don't bother me. Saving as many pills as i can, and only healing more health bars if my stockpile is reaching it's limit, which was about 12 pills i think. It's also good for reviving teammates that just get hit or get downed too much in harder difficulty so you don't spend all your pills.

@GBDupree8 ай бұрын
@@KiaTallon2 Yeah, that's what I did! I just did everything I could to convey that I wasn't an AI controlled enemy, and befriend the players. This worked out the best for Chris' campaign where in China there are enemies that are bipedal and when controlled have a "play dead" button, as well as can shoot spikes. I was able to play dead whenever the players shot at me, so they thought I died, only for me to get up constantly. Eventually they stopped shooting me and I pretended to shoot the other enemies while standing next to them (though the game isn't programmed for my attacks to do anything to other enemies). Once they killed all enemies, we would just mess around together. Found a table that Chris and Piers could slide across, so I would time playing dead so it would look like I was getting kicked by them, silly stuff like that. We tried all sorts of things. Eventually though I had to convince them through gestures to continue their campaign even though I couldn't go on with them (the game kicks you out after each loading/cutscene section of a level). We did farewells somehow and they left. They managed to figure out my PS3 name and sent a message... all in Japanese. It took a bit to figure out the gist of what they were saying, but the language barrier made it tough. But they had fun and wanted to be PS3 friends. I think its funny that we were able to communicate better in-game through gestures comparitively.

37:00 Jake's hand to hand system is there from the start. Its really good and useful because if you hold the stance, you recover stamina rapidly to continue doing power hits. @squirrelsyrup19218 ай бұрын
There's a running section near the end of Chris' final boss where the two players have to both run and parkour around a cylindrical room while the platforms collapse beneath them. I played this co-op with a friend. We kept dying and it took is a while to realise what was wrong. Player 2's control orientation (the direction he would walk in when he pressed up, down, left, or right) was locked to Player 1's camera angle, which was constantly revolving as the player(s) made their way round the room. So if the players weren't exactly next to each other, with their cameras at exactly the same tilt, all the time, one of the players would just get nogged. He would suddenly find his directional controls became 90-degrees different from how they should be, and then the players would die. There's another section where Chris and Piers have to make a running jumping segment across boats on a river. We found that we had to stack drectly on top of each other, because both players had to make the jump at precisely the same moment. If one player was like a metre ahead, he'd press the QTE button, make the jump, and the second player would immediately "fail" the jump and die. Mercenaries Mode was quite well-balanced, and showed the potential of the RE6 combat system, which could have been good if it were ever allowed to shine. But almost all action sequences in the whole four campaigns would do something wrong. In some cases, you'd get to fight 3 enemies before an ambulance cutscened into teh area, and if you were standing in the wrong place, you'd just die immediately. In other fights, you'd get to kick two zombies but suddenly have to flatten yourself against a wall to avoid a speeding train, which would wipe out all the remaining enemies, unless you didn't flatten yourself, in which case it would kill you outright. In other fights, poison gas was coming up the stairs immediately after you, so you'd only be allowed to cheekily punch one zombie before you either cutscened yourself inside a room, or died. In other fights, you'd be cutscened into the fight and it would start with you facing 6 people who all started spraying machineguns right into your body, knocking you flat on your back on 1HP and forcing you to use healing. Almost every single moment of the game was hammered flat by actively bad decisions, camera theft, or broken controls. There was no ammo in the game, like anywhere. Where was the ammo??? And this is coming from someone who plays Re5 regularly, and only needs 1 bullet for each enemy. Why wouldn' RE6 on max difficulty even give you 1 bullet for each enemy? Instead all you could do was sprint and kick them, until you didn't have any HP because you got hit once, and then kick was disabled, and you still had no ammo so you couldn't do a single thing. Unbelievable!!
@joshuanelson67958 ай бұрын
The same thing happened to me during that chase sequence. In order to outrun HAOS, you have to always be sprinting, but when the camera changes, your controls do as well, which left my friend and I temporarily unable to sprint, resulting in repeated deaths. It's a terribly designed section.

that section, and the one on the boats, are the worst part of this game and the fact that both are in Chris' campaign makes this campaign the worst out of 4.

From what I remember about the launch of this game, you could play this co-op and mix the campaigns. Basically one or two people could play Leon's campaign and the third player would be playing Ada's campaign as Ada, all connected together. Other campaigns had this feature as well. It's likely harder to have that mix these days as there are fewer players, but I remember it being pretty cool jumping into some randoms' Leon campaign co-op session as Ada and watch as they fought the awful bosses. I think there was one time an Ada player joined our Leon co-op session a few years after the game launched as well as they clearly didn't play like the AI Ada does.

Important to note! The crossover sections used to be coop, back when it came out it was pretty fun, to match with people on different campaigns and having 4 players fucking around at the same time. Not sure if the function still exists, but, it was really fun. some of the extra content can be really fun, Like Agent Hunt, which lets you invade other player's campaigns as a Zombie (most of the available zombies) to kill them. Of course, only for specific short sections, but still generally a very unique function. There's basically a "Puyo Puyo" versus mercenary mode, where you stack up combos to send increasingly harder hordes of enemies at your adversary to see who will get more points, or die. There is a mode where you play as Ustanak against 4-5 other players. Very fun. and a Zombies vs Humans as well, with a VIP that the humans have to protect. I think there was also just a straight up Versus mode as well? I don't recall. But the game is jam packed with multiplayer content, which makes it for one of the most Multiplayer-interactive RE games to date. Though a bad RE game. its one of the most fun Multiplayer experiences around that time.

@@dxtremecaliber and what exactly makes a resident evil game? Horror? They were never scary until like revelations 2, and of course 7 and 8. Slow and limited gameplay? Maybe, it helped with the "survival" aspect, but Resident evil 6 modernized the gameplay and included a more realistic way of dealing with enemies, being able to kill them using melee attacks that aren't useless, countering, dodging, etc. Story? It was never that great, it was good for the most part until revelations 1 and 5, and excluding games like 0, but the RE games aren't known for their story. So, should Capcom have made another Ip just for the gameplay like they did with Dmc? I'm not denying that would've been an option, but what would've been the next step? Make another game with new characters that aren't as interesting as the ones we already know? Like, we already know who Chris is and what he's been through, so when he loses his team and his partner it has more impact than if it were another character instead of him. The hard part was keeping NPCs alive in the gun shop and the church while doing melee only challenge runs, otherwise it was just too easy. I think patching the campaigns together like that makes the story more enjoyable and cohesive than it is when you just play straight through the separate campaigns. I loved this game when I played it for my first time a few years back. My gf played co-op with me and we used the list I mentioned. It was a great time and I really look forward to a remake.

No matter how many times i come back to RE6 or how many minigun sections it has, i keep loving it. RE as a franchise is safely back on track, so the fact that it had basically an RE Avengers game with 8 playable characters trotting the globe across 4 overarching campaigns is just amazing to me. It's still insane, and i hope they'll bring Jake back.

There is a part in the Chris campaign where you have to save random nameless hostages and when you do there is a little cutscene of them thanking you and running away and it’s so out of place for a resident evil game that it feels more like some kinda weird 3rd person House of the Dead.
@Smoquan8 ай бұрын
When I read how you put that, it makes it sound like an easter egg/purposely placed reference. This is one of my favorite games, but I can't really remember that part. Not a huge HotD guy, so it would have gone over my head.
@coldeed8 ай бұрын
How is that out of place? Chris and Jill literally founded an organization to do exactly that as a result of the first few games.
@CaptainFellowship8 ай бұрын
@@coldeed a hostage scenerio isn’t necessarily out place, its more in the way it’s presented. Before RE6, how many unnamed NPCs did you encounter in the series have? How many of them survived? Zero I can think of. The games, particularly 1 through CV) understood to use NPCs to build the horror and story. They all had names, a narrative function, and usually a grim resolution. Being told to go rescue random unnamed business men because they are getting hugged by human centipedes, and you do, and it’s never brought up again is strange. They should have had you rescue 1 hostage, give that person a name and a story, like “go rescue Dr. Smith, a leading scientist in microbiology who is blah blah blah”, and you rescue them but maybe it was trap and they were secretly infected, or maybe not and they show up later in the story with some insight into the C-Virus. Instead it felt like filler.
@coldeed8 ай бұрын
@CaptainFellowship No, they shouldn't. It's the difference of them doing that stuff before being pretty much independent compared to a more organized fashion. It's just reasonable continuity and character development/growth.

Resident Evil 6 isn't as bad as people say it is. The co-op is a ton of fun and the mercenaries mode is an absolute blast. I doubt we'll ever get a remake since there is SO much that Capcom would have to change in order to make it a complete success

The campaigns in RE6 almost felt like they were supposed to be themed. Like, Leon's was supposed to be the most "survival horror", hence the dark theme, whereas Chris' was meant to be action, and I guess Jake's somewhere in between (maybe the other way between the Chris and Jake's campaigns though).
@Spyder12468 ай бұрын
I feel like I've always been the odd one out with this game. I happen to love the campaigns, but dislike the Mercenaries mode. The game is also MUCH more enjoyable if you turn off the HUD & turn laser sights on, instead of the crosshairs. You can still check your health, ammo, stamina with the tap of a button.
@ZDWario8 ай бұрын

Having played through the game just recently (and for the first time ever), I respectfully disagree. RE 6 arguably has the best combat system of the entire series, and once one accepts that it's not a horror game, it shines as an action game. Given the sheer amount of content, the few lesser levels hardly matter, the story is fun in a silly, over-the-top way, and Mercenaries mode is roughly on par with RE5's. I also liked the characters, both recurring and new. Wouldn't mind if Capcom would go back to this type of cheesy RE, even if it's just for one new entry. Also, looks like you forgot to increase the FOV. The game plays approximately 260% better with maxed FOV.
@MediocreNed8 ай бұрын
Too bad resident evil is an adventure game with guns though.
@Bawkr8 ай бұрын
arguably both 5 and 6 are action games. You can argue that 4 might still be horror but I personally like to say it's what 5 and 6 came from, so it's part of it. & Capcom tends to put those 3 titles all in the same camp as well. They're Action Horror, survival is still an element in the game but it's not the same genre as survival horror, however I do really still think all of these games even ORC should be called resident evil because it's in the universe they're just different types of gameplay. (I remember reading in the magazine that ORC was going to be a swat game in raccoon city) but no one seems to understand this once they actually get the game or very few they seem like they're expecting kind of a mix between RE4 and RE2 every time capcom releases a title, overall that is the consensus I feel from the masses.
@MediocreNed8 ай бұрын
@@Bawkr People trash on 5 but love 4 even they're basically the same damn game simply for two, possibly three reasons. The partner AI, the item system, and the writing. In 5 the AI is basically dead weight, which is ironic since 4 was a gaint escort mission. Ashley in 4 is basically a box that just follows you, only about 3 sections do have serious have to manage her in the game. The item system is both real time and reduced in 5. So it comes off as a regression compared to 4 and needlessly difficult. It was done since it's a online co-op game. You can't pause gameplay online. The writing is personal taste but both 5&6 try to take itself seriously when it's clear both games are campy as fuck. RE 4 was more of a realization that the whole scenario is absurd after years of writer's block and embraced that. The remakes as a whole are an attempt to de-camp the writing with varying degrees of success. It's capcom wants a action packed RE game since it's one of their top 3 series, they need to accept the fact that fans have expectations of the series itself.

Last year I played through all of it with a friend. The most enjoyable thing we found is the "shoulder tech", where chaging shoulder view resets the weapon's rate of fire, so chris's shotgun was pretty much fully automatic, as well as that chopper part taking 3 seconds with the full auto grenade launcher. Halfway on chris' campaign we were just done with it, but fully commited to the bit
