What is really interesting is that Jerusalem was built on two hills...the temple was built on one hill and the other hill sustained the lower city and it was called, 'Acra'. Think about that for a second...the source is the book of Josephus, "Of the Wars of the Jews” Book 5, chapter 4.1 and also there's a reference to it in the Britannica on a page for Antiochus IV Epiphanes.
