Not really the record labels give artist cash upfront along with all other kinds of perks and opportunities and you have to pay those back which normally takes atleast an album and a tour (at the very least) also in the 90s a lot of artists weren't hiring "entertainment lawyers" like they should have been and signing bs contracts essentially fuking themselves

But the industry gives you a chance to be rich and famous. You have to take crumbs and build like Beyonce did with Destinys Child. Yes they sold alot of records but it was a partnership that they agreed to. I hate when artist blame ignorance on the record company. I dont see Beyonce with her 200+ million complaining about money. Or did we forget about MC Hammer selling over 10 million albums too? He legendary broke. You have to sustain your success for a long time and create your own path with the money and power you slowly get. You cant just come in the game and be rich. Even Frank Sinatra said he was broke as fuck with 5 or 6 hit songs on the radio in the 30's and 40's. Without the music companies your music would be known to you, your friends and some people at the local pub. I busted my ass for years to get a high paying job, shit dont just come after a few years of work. In 2019 though, all you need is a youtube channel haha

@@0623kaboom Yeah... It's a common contract that traps a lot of great musicians. I think nowadays though... A lot more people have seen that going indie works out better. Musicians are also a lot more business savvy for the most part. That's why the big labels are dying out one by one. The NEW "big labels" are Spotify, KZbin etc. They aren't much better but at least it's a more level playing field.

@Joe Bloggs I'm confused. Since when could you not say the white race? I have numerous texts books from college, historical audio books from Amazon, and just books on books on white treachery. What other race sail across the planet to slaughter and enslave folks for rare metals? I must state not make their own people lives better, but to arm their people to kill their neighbor. But I'll read that Revelation tonight.
@cmathews5909
@cmathews5909 3 жыл бұрын
@Joe Bloggs I read from 1:1 to 2:14 and there's a lot there there. Without a historian AND a theologian sorting these passages out for us laymen, folks would be hard pressed to suss out the context of Rev 2:9. For instance, I was listening to lecture on Plato's Republic Ch. 8 and 9 today and the main theme was the oligos (oligarchy) of Athens. To summarize, the chapter was on money worship, the contradiction of money worship, and the eventual predatory degradation into "credit" (debt) Greek city-states - Rev 2:8 And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna..... . Smyrna is one of these said city-states. MY point is that the lecture shook me - even though our government is based on the Roman Republic, our present (since leaving the gold standard) economy is based on the Greek debt system that preys systemically on the masses, gradually turning a mix of economic classes into the few rich and the many poor - lending money they know that CAN'T be repaid and taking the folk for everything they have when it isn't. In the time of Socrates, people didn't get oligos rich by their labors or by accident. Thus, Rev 2:9 I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich). This is actually a snigger message to the oligos of Smyrna - they don't work, their money does; because of their reluctance to spend, the city-state productivity and future profits are retarded (tribulations); and enough money is never enough (poverty, (but thou art is rich)). The Synagogue of Satan statement is equal to the Evangelist today who made a pact with Trump, who is by the way the character definition (1 billion+ of debt due in two years with 0$ dollars paid back to the lenders) of the Greek oligos. The Jews of that time forgot their principles for money (at the folk expense) and so has the church in declaring Trump a god send. They both do/did Satan's work. What say you?

To live up to societies definition of "beauty" you have to have plastic and other shit done to your body and wear layers of makeup. It's very sad that people don't acknowledge nor appreciate natural beauty. It's only getting worse and worse, we're starting to see young females as young as 10, wearing all that shit, dressing, and acting grown because they want to be like these clowns in the industry. As the years go on the media brainwashed them and makes them feel obligated to do all that just to be noticed be everyone.

Seriously. A cashier at my grocery store literally wears a full face of KZbin tutorial makeup on the reg.. Basically she looks like she's in day drag but just on her face. The worst part is you can tell she's so naturally pretty without it. I don't understand. I wanted to tell her it wasn't necessary but I didn't know how to without making her feel more insecure. These poor younger women and girls, my heart breaks for them.

@@thatkidd2851 if you read correctly, we ARE blaming society. Some people are not comfortable with the way they were created which causes them to use those additives to themselves and that's OKAY! If you haven't noticed there are LOTS of PEOPLE using makeup, and you're probably one of them 🤷🏽‍♀️ it's funny to see everyone follow like sheep tho. Society is turning into robots

@@SpikyDane No I did some digging. It was chick named Pebbles who used to be a singer back in the day. She became their manager and robbed them clean. This little bit of info from her bio says a lot about the kind of person she is: "Her second marriage was to Oakland contractor George L. Smith from 1985 until 1987. The relationship began as an affair when Smith's wife of twenty years Darlene was battling cancer. While married, Pebbles began having an affair with L.A. Reid, which led to her divorce from Smith."

Tobias Hørsted True. Record companies say things like "We're taking a chance on you. We're spending millions to make you famous. We get the first two albums and you go on to be rich and famous after that. And if you don't like it we got 3 more girls that can do the same thing"... A good manager should know if he's got a talented group and fight for a food deal. Sometimes managers are bought off by record labels though and the artist is truly alone...super shady business.
@laminage
@laminage 6 жыл бұрын
It was more "Take It Or Leave It", also they were so desperate and trusted Pebbles beyond 100% they didn't think she would betray them. The only Girl Group that came out of their Celebrity financially was Banarama in the UK who kicked the door open for every UK Girl Group that came after them and Girls Aloud who were bought together on Popstars: The Rivals in 2002. Hilary Shaw was their Manager and did a great job. In fact Kimberley Walsh of Girls Aloud "Managed" them for Two Years doing it all, The Balancing of the budget, the payments, paying bills on time, and that was saying alot because the other four didn't know anything about Business. They weren't allowed to Write and Produce their own songs because of the Contract, but they made up for it in Commercial Endorsements like Nintendo, Samsung, Silk Shampoo, and Kit Kat Bars. They even had Dolls in their likeness. They did Solo Work as well but Cheryl Ann Tweedy became the most successful. In Girls Aloud she had 21 Top Tens, Four Number Ones, and Six Platinum Albums, as a Solo Artist she had Five Number Ones and Three Number One Albums. Keren Woodward who was once involved with Andrew Ridgeley of Wham said that because she and Sara Dallin wrote alot of their Songs, they get Royalty Checks every couple of months.

Legally is how tf, they signed the contract agreeing to let the manager "rob" them. I'm not saying it's right by any means but you have to be able to see the business world for what it is, soulless and evil. If this was the first case of preying on the ignorance of others then I would feel sorry but I imagine most groups get swindled like this in their first major contract/record deal. And if it wasn't in the contract and the manager actually was stealing their money left eye burned the wrong house down.

@@katsparkles370 if you're emancipated, dont know if it applies to them though. I'd also make damn sure no one gets access to my bank account. If you do it that way then you probably cant get swindled like this. That's every industry though, it's just less life affecting when it's a day to day 9 to 5. @Blue Siren It aint demonic bro, I used to believe that shit as a kid, until I grew up and actually started interacting with so called 'illuminati' folk. Imagery and symbolism in videos is designed to get people talking, Kid Cudi talks about how he'd throw a skull in if it makes people curious. It's free publicity. The only part you can parallel is 'selling your soul', but it's not really a devil deal, it's you selling your rights to your creations. Letting someone else dictate where your life could lead, but it's a 2 way street. It's just business practise.

the people that made the money are the ones that took the risk. thats the way it works. high risk high reward. they didn't waste their whole lives just a couple of years. they have valuable name recognition for their next contract. if they didn't sell they wouldn't have been on the hook. with any boy/girl band they sign because anyone can take their place and most never hit. they were luckier than most. if they were good they would have continued past the contract and couldn't have done it on their own.

They broke since they couldn't negotiate contracts or menage their money, just an example of reckless spending and celebrity lifestyle. Not to mention they werent exactly angels, Left Eye was 1,5mln$ in debt for arson, only out of prison since she was famous, rest of the band was up the ass in debt too. I mean if you go around burning down multi million dollar mansions you wont be swimming in money.

The point was completely missed. Working under ANY circumstance for the benefit of another is slavery. Period. We are still under slavery because we own nothing and control nothing in this set up. The industry was always a slave and master economy. Additionally having to sacrifice the self or member to seal the oath in blood at some point when the master calls.
@Traveler89_89

It’s slavery. Being owned is slavery. Record labels own artists and seek to gain more ownership over time through deals. Why u think prince and Michael kept saying “own your Masters”? Cuz that’s the first L if u don’t. Why u think Sony hated Michael Jackson? Cuz he knew his rights and knew his worth. At one point he owned 80 percent of their catalog which angered them. TLC should have looked at owing their masters and having creative control, before they signed any deal. They like many others probably got caught up looking at the money and not realizing where they messed up. I think that and other things contributed to their struggles and left eyes depression she went thru. To sell ten million and having nothing to show, they got got.
