The anime skips explaining the story of the world. The light novel explains all the main races (Human, Sky, Beast, Dragon, Demon, Water), and that each race has a god (like Hitogami). And all those races originally had their own separate worlds (can't recall if they merged together or people from destroyed worlds fled to other worlds). The world in MT is called the Six Sided world (from the names of the races, plus an extra world that's "inside" like the inside of a cube, called the Barren/Void world).

Yes, the terminology can be a bit confusing, depending on the context. The Seven Great Powers, (not that they are gods just the highest rank in each classification): Technique God, Dragon God, Fighter God, Demon God, Death God, Sword God, North God. Languages: Demon God Language, Beast God Language, Fighting God Language, Sea God Language, only the human language is not referred to as Human God Language. Swordsman styles: Sword God Style, Water God Style and North God Style.

Also there are ranks too which add to naming confusion. Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Saint, King, Emperor, God. Gallus (smuggler) was Saint Class in North God Style. Pretty high.

This is one of the things that you aren’t meant to notice on a first watch through as it’s subtle. Beginning of the episode, has Gyse come upon Rudeus in the box and stop his perving, smells arousal from Rudeus and believes that it’s because of his daughter. When Eris is half naked playing in water and is wearing white underclothes, you see in the scene Eris very well aware of what Rudy is doing and is angry with him for it. Then later on with the Great Beast - a tall, thin, busty Beast Woman comes along to tell Rudeus to stop treating the Great Beast like a pet and Rudeus sees her body and gets aroused by it and she thinks its because of the Great Beast. The Doldia tribe have a great sense of smell but they aren’t AT ALL aware of the way Humans interact and act so they are very upfront about it and thinking of things as face-on value. There’s a very pivotal missing scene in season 2 part 1 that goes into this involving a continuation of Rudeus reprimanding two people for a horrible act of crime against religious symbols. So NO, Gyse isn’t a good father, he’s actually very bigoted towards a lot of things and was imparting that to his kids as well, you’ll see what his parenting leads to later on.

Spoiler The reason the dog likes Rudeus but won't go with him is because Rudeus isn't the Hero, the Hero is Rudeus' future daughter Lara. The dog knows this.

Rudeus father tells Rudy that he never once beat Ghislaine in Swordfighting so that's not possible, also they should be more or less the same age, Ghislaine tells us on episode 8 (Turning Point 1) that her master is the Sword God Gal Farion and he bestowed her with the Title Sword King and one of his Swords.
