I gave my last GHK AK74 away to some kid for free. I hadn't used it in years and was moving to a cold climate soon. I found the kid online when I was trying to sell the GHK AK. He seemed super interested and wanted to try to mock it up like an AN-94. He said he needed to save up for a couple months to afford it, so I just told him I couldn't wait that long and he could just have it for free. I figured I wasn't using it and wouldn't miss it much, so it was a "free to a good home" sort of mindset.

I originally bought it before GHK made the AKM series. I really like having airsoft equivalents for each of my real steel weapons, because they make training cheap and fun. Now I need to actually get a GHK AKM &/or AKMS. Plus the WE 950, never thought I'd actually see an airsoft replica of that hit the market.

That's unfortunate...it seems like nowadays GHK is focusing on meeting the demands(and skimmed on the QC)instead of actually improving their products. Still thinking of get my hands on their AUG GBBR though(in OD Green, with built-in 1.5x optics and 20 in. barrel of course!😍).

@Jesscrayons2 жыл бұрын
If you are buying a brand new one high like not worth the risk high as it’s not just fault in terms of the barrel it stops the hop up working and can make them totally non functional. I have 2 GHK aks and love them a lot but one was older new discontinued stock I found in a shop cheap and the other was 2nd hand. If you want to get a GHK AK I’d say join the heavy recoil club discord and ask them about it in the GHK ak channel. There are a lot of good 2nd hand GHK aks out in the wild looking for homes.

I'd say there's less than a 25% chance just based on personal experience and the issues themselves are blown completely out of proportion.
@connerstines15782 жыл бұрын
I'd say generally go into it knowing that there can be a bit of break in and hand fitting to get it perfect, it's the case with a lot of gas guns, generally. Not just GHK. Even real stuff can be finicky out of the box, you know how it is here in 'Merica, we get to handle real stuff a lot and so the issues are less suprising since gas guns mimic real stuff that can have issues.
@sogerc12 жыл бұрын
I have a 2021 version, it came with almost non-functional hop-up and all mags have feeding issues to some extent, some better than others, BadaBing barely mentioned those. My bolt stop also needed the little o-rings to work, it's a known mod. Despite all this, I'm happy I bought the thing, I agree with Darth, the issues are not that big of a deal. Unfortunately those nice LCT externals are expensive, so you kinda expect a flawless gun, but it's not. My 2019 GHK AUG had even less issues and I think I'll get a SIG 551 too.

I’m currently looking into getting a GHK AK but as a gbbr novice I’m nervous as it’s a lot of money to spend if I’ve gotta keep sourcing replacement parts that’s not great. However I am looking for a realism AK platform & the GHK seems to be at the top of the list.
@BadaBingPictures2 жыл бұрын
Nice to see you in the comments again, Sparky! Completely understandable. In that case I would recommend finding a used one that is a few years old, while it’s no guarantee you’ll get a good one. An indication would be if the seller discloses the total round count of that particular GBBR. Higher the round count the better chances of it being a well-made unit. Or if money is no object you could invest in the Marui AKM. GBL are soon to be releasing a stamped steel receiver and that’ll put it in line with GHK. Then all you have to do is put on a wood kit. Expensive way to go about it though!

I strongly advise to put even a little more money for a Tokyo marui AKM , if you really want an AK GBB, I have 3 M4 TM MWS and one GHK AK, the TM are maybe expensive but there’s absolutely no comparaison for the reliability, GO for TM , GHK is a NIGHT MARE
@dark2023-1lovesoni Жыл бұрын
As a real steel AK guy, I find the GHK guns to be the only GBBRs I'd consider a proper replica AK. Especially with a full travel bolt upgrade. They even have some parts compatibility with real AK bits, primarily furniture. Plus the internals and function are extremely similar. So you build familiarity with how an actual AK works. Especially useful if you ever plan to go into military or own a real AK someday.

Look dude, if you want realism you're gonna have to spend. Shit breaks. Especially airsoft shit, which isn't anywhere near as developed an industry as powder weapons manufacturing. You're gonna have to replace valves, o-rings, maybe parts but I doubt that part if you replace them with the steel ones. Then it's just a one time cost.

First off I thank you for your in-depth video and going over each and every intricate and important detail about your GBB Airsoft Rifle. And also thank you for not only explaining the pros but also the cons. However I have a question. Wouldn’t it be better to send it back to Evike? I ask because Evike has brought this GHK GBB Airsoft Rifle back in stock. And I am not exactly privy, skilled or experienced in mechanics like you and those who have similar experience in your field. This is why I asked a question that might seem….redundant or irrelevant because of how long you have had your Airsoft GBB Rifle.
@BadaBingPictures Жыл бұрын
You are very welcome. Glad you enjoyed the video, thank you! Sure. Anything which isn’t quite right should be sent back to the shop. GHK especially. With GHK though, they are particularly a brand you ought to be extra cautious about. Seeing the sloppy work that escaped the factory and into the customers hands is outrageous. When people liken it to playing the lottery, they mean it. That’s how it is. Try one out in a shop if you can. Shoot it and see. Or the used market may reveal more reliable results. If you are certain about buying one. If it’s your first GBB platform, I would probably recommend something else.

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my comment. Also I am a huge fan of History and am a Airsoft Replica Enthusiast. However I am not what you would call an engineer, craftsman, or handyman; but I try none the less. I’m really glad to have your company. Thanks for watching. It’s a tricky thing, because I don’t ever want to play the lottery with other peoples money by giving you the green light. There’s always the chance of finding a 2nd hand rifle that’s being sold for genuine reasons, and those are likely to be without any nasty issues lurking beneath the surface. Or find a reputable dealer that can assure you that what you’re buying is tip-top. And that they’ll look after you following the purchase. Worth investing in? I think it’s best to ask “is it worth the risk?”. If you’re not going to be depending on it 100%, and mainly collectors piece…perhaps.
@nilsvandamme17382 жыл бұрын
@@BadaBingPictures Thanks for the fast answer! I appreciate your word of caution, I'd consider it's my own responsibility if ever I decide to run the risk to buy a GHK. The last thing I'd want would be for the rifle to break shortly after acquiring it, and/or ending up being definitely faulty beyond repair, idk if it's that bad here despite all I read about QC issues. I wouldn't mind replacing a few pieces with upgrades or whatever, but at this price I'd expect it to work for a while on it's own without replacements being 100% needed. It's true I'm mainly interested for collection but I'd rather have something I can also play with if I ever wanted to. In the worst of cases I'd be down to go for an AEG since a LCT one would still look the same, but it's not the same feeling ofc... In all cases i'm really happy to have some enlightened input from an experienced GHK user, most airsoft reviews don't seem to show how rifles end up on the long run so it's really nice. Thanks again for the video and the answer! (and I LOVE your Red Dawn Parka btw!)

@@nilsvandamme1738 you’re very welcome. It’s a crap position to be in. Because these rifles really look great, and so long as it’s been built well from the factory, they’ll run like a train. However, as we’ve seen with mine it’s not totally 100%. The operation from the nozzle to the chamber in particular leaves a high margin for error, and one day it’ll only take something that’s off by a fraction and that can be game over. I think if the nozzle had a return spring it would give the correct amount of time during cycling to snap back home before the carrier can make its journey back forward. Thus ensuring the nozzle remain in a fixed position. As long as the path from the feedlips to the chamber is straight, it wouldn’t be a problem. In that particular area of operation anyway. I high recommend checking out the HRC Discord server for more information, and pinned section for guides.

If you don't play often, what you need is realism to not get super bored. That electric sound and the zero kick from the bolt moving fast gets old. These are metal parts. Even if you don't upgrade to steel, they will last if you're not using them constantly.

I recently bought a GHK Ak74 and my barrel is warped to the right, now I finally know why I took the whole thing appart and tried to fix it but nothing worked. Any suggestions? And it seems like that the frontsightpost also looses its grip when you have a supressor equipped for a long periode of time so I guess the tape fix you talked about it is. Great Video as always your channel was one of the reasons why I bought a ghk M4 and now a 74 and even though they have some problems its probably the most fun I had with any airsoft replika so far.
@BadaBingPictures2 жыл бұрын
Woah, that sounds awful! I wish it could be a case of using a hammer to beat the barrel straight, but sadly they’re still toys haha. If the barrel is not bent and it’s just it’s attachment to the receiver trunnion which is giving you the alignment issues, I’d say it would need its thread correcting. Trouble is you’d need a lathe or something… This is outside of my wheelhouse, so check out the Heavy Recoil Club discord. You’ll find the best knowledge on there. Link is in the description 👍 And thanks for watching the video. Glad you liked it. Cheers

It’s lucky you got it so long ago. I purchased a AK105 a year or so ago and it was broken from the start with holes in the bolt guide, which broke the nozzle on the first shot. I understand this is down to their recent guns having terrible QC issues. I got it working but ultimately fell out of love with it…

I know that feeling mate. It’s not the same when you have to fix guns that should be 100% operational from day one! Sadly QC and GHK haven’t been the best of friends for years. If at all!

@BadaBingPictures Жыл бұрын
@@dudus9287 I don’t own that kit, so I don’t know the answer to that one. The fire control parts aren’t steel, so they’re not the most durable components anyway. Same with the WE AK. To be honest with you, GHK have a lot of problems with most of their inventory, and they don’t perform the fundamental quality control inspections on their units before shipping them out. Their AK’s can have parts which are completely off spec from the batch that proceeded them. Alignment issues with barrels and such. Way too complicated to list inside a comment section. I touch upon this towards the end of this video. I’ve never owned or used the WE AK74. I’d recommend checking out the Heavy Recoil GBBR Discord server as the amount of user feedback on all GBB’s is vast. Pinned comments are also a goldmine of information. Link in description. As a first airsoft gun though, I’d recommend starting with an AEG. A lot easier to use when you fresh of the field. GBB’s are difficult as there are so many variables.

@@BadaBingPictures I wanted to start with gbb beacuse I love how realistic it is
@BadaBingPictures Жыл бұрын
@@dudus9287 That’s fair enough. In that case, here’s some tips to get your started. Make sure you use the best quality ammo you can afford. If you feed it crap, you’ll essentially have a gun shaped coffee grinder. I’ve had great experiences with Geoff bbs. Excel, Madbull, Guarder and Airsoft Surgeon. Rifles will work best with bb weights 0.30g or higher. Anything below would not deliver impressive groupings. Gas must be charged with the bottle inverted, so the liquid gas can fall down into the magazines gas tank. Gas charging will always be more consistent if the gas bottle is at a warmer temperature than the vessel (magazine) you’re intending to fill. Depending on the type of inlet valve, if both gas bottle and magazine are the same temperature, pressure can equalise and transfer little if any gas at all. Never leave your magazines empty of gas. At least not for long periods of time. Store with a few seconds of gas charged, this will keep pressure behind the seals and will prevent leaks. I always have mine loaded with gas and as I result I never have leaks. During the winter months it’s best to use a higher powered gas to deal with cooler temperatures. Again, it’s important to ensure the gas bottle is warmer than the magazine. If both objects are cold you’re not going to get a good charge. They’re not as maintenance heavy as people claim. If anything I at least make sure the barrel is super clean. Super Lube Multipurpose grease will be fine for metal to metal contact parts. Silicone oil for o-rings. There’s probably more, but you’ll pick it up as you do your research. Good luck

@BadaBingPictures2 жыл бұрын
Full travel doesn’t do anything for me. It’s more realistic but it doesn’t make the AK shoot any better. Only makes it sluggish. And I find it ridiculous to pay for a worse shooting experience. Sure, with the right aftermarket parts or mods the rate of fire can be increased to almost original speed. May as well leave it as it is. You know?

After watching a lot of videos and trying to find a lot of information on the HK 416 A5 by VFC to disguise it as a 416D i was pretty amazed by the AK plateform. I repeated the same modus operandi. I was really impressed by the hype and the myth about GHK's AK. But I fear as a beginner to invest in this types of AK looking at the latest reviews and problems with ghk. I'm not really fond of Tokyo Marui's replica but if that may be one of the solution to get a good ak well why not !

They’re very cool but a risky purchase over the last few years. For a good GHK you’re better off finding a second hand unit, from a reputable seller. TM is a great option though. Less realistic, but still solid.

Nice Review :) I'm pretty sure I'd hit 10/10 at 40m on such a big target with my GHK AK or close. to it. Normally I shoot it at 50m metal plate the size of an A4 sheet, I would guess I hit 8/10 at that distance and the reest is very close. But mine is not standard either, Maple leaf hopup housing/barrel, with TDC mod. Power 1.6j and .4g BBs, I actually think it is as accurate as my MWS but it has also required some work, MWS have a modify bucking and T8 nub. But yours looks very unstable when you look at the amount of hopup from shot to shot

I would push back on these being easy to work on. I own around 10 gbbrs, from ARs to G3s, and this AK is by far the biggest pain in the ass to service. The problem is that the internal systems are held together with tightly tensioned springs and tiny, easy-to-lose screws, and while it's not so hard to take apart, putting it back together can take hours in comparison if you don't have otherworldly fine motor skills and small hands. Perfect example is the W&S single hook trigger. 20 mins to take apart, and almost 3 hours to put back together because of how the tiny screw attaches to the trigger, and how the springs have to be placed in order to tension properly. Just a warning for those of you that plan to do heavy work on this rifle.

How does this compare to the WE ak?
@BadaBingPictures2 жыл бұрын
I have no idea. Never owned a WE AK before. I know the externals are not as nice and it has a full-travel bolt. Well, I think it stops a couple of centimetres in front of how far the real AK bolt travels…but it’s as full travel as you can get. It also drops the hammer when it’s empty, so it’s more realistic on two accounts.
