I've forgotten just how bad that dub was. Although the sequels/reboots are generally worse, and no offense to the original English VA Mimi Woods, I think Mary Elizabeth McGlynn's voicing of Major Kusanagi is far superior, in delivery and in fitting with the character. Richard Epcar as Batou's VA got it right the first time, and I'm glad he's been a constant through the franchise's many releases.

It suprised me very often how bad english dub can be, maybe because, the most films are already english dubbed. In germany we have traditionally a big sycronisation scene, so it is normally unusal and disappointing, if a dub is bad like this.

I wasn't aware the original of this video existed. GitS is still one of my favourite movies, both for the narrative and themes as well as for the animation. You don't see a lot of rotoscoping like that anymore and it has a very nostalgic feel for me personally.

It certainly draws many things from scripture. The ending dialogue also references scripture, the verse before the passage quoted on the boat. I Corinthians 13:11 "When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me." They also both must die before they are reborn, a clear reference to the resurrection. Corinthians 13 is actually about love. "And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love." We don't see much love in Ghost in The Shell, and it's absence is deafening.
@PontoLyone Жыл бұрын
Love is a unique feature of humanity. It's absence in the film makes sense. In a world dominated by tech and AI, humanity is diluted to the point where, eventually, humanity will cease to exist. Kusanagi is the first fruit in a major gain towards this inevitable reality, the first human to willingly give over her remaining shred of humanity to the demonic AI.

This video totally unlocked my understanding behind the core theme of the film. It was something i couldn't get behind. This analysis made me think of the Ship of Theseus. If a human were to bio-mechanically modify their body so much to the point of no organic componants, are they still considered human? That's what i think you're trying to convey here. Great analysis.

You should make a video series called how to lose and go into how a movie's monster or killer can more effectively achieve its goal without breaking the rules the movie sets because sometimes I can't help but think some slasher films are just a critical thought away on the slasher's part from ending the story sooner

To me, this film (and the movie with Scarlet Johansson) is a personification of Computer algorithms, viruses and programmes work. I don’t predominately see the “human vs. AI/machine” in these. I see what happens in the net itself with the programs we are writing and their increasing autonomity and self-programming. At the same time it also depicts humanity, which is more AI than we we probably realise.

Hey! I just finished this movie and had to find someone to explain this ending. Interesting take on 1 Corinthians 13:12 but I had to comment because I honestly believe you misunderstood the meaning of that passage. It’s so important to understand that the Bible is solely about God, not ourselves. The passage reads, “Now I know know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.” I rewrote it again but with commentary. “Now (referring to present-tense) I know in part (the word ‘part’ is used as a depiction of humanity’s finite knowledge, specifically concerning God); then (‘then’ is used referring to the future; most likely after the coming of Christ.) I shall know fully ( ‘know fully’ means to understand the complexities of God in its entirety.), even as I am fully known (the phrase ‘fully known’ is a depiction of God’s complete wisdom and understanding concerning both humanity as a whole and us as individuals. He fully knows us because He is the Creator of us. Just as an architect knows every detail and minuscule specific of the blueprint he created, the same is true concerning God and ourselves.).” In other words, just as God fully knows and understands every detail about us (physically, microscopically, emotionally, etc.) we too will one day know and understand Him! I hope this makes sense ! I really don’t believe this passage is a revelation about us (mankind) coming to a newer and more complete understanding of … us. Lol
@treytilley333 Жыл бұрын
I had an out of body experience as a child and was given a vision of the last chapter of revelation. I saw the glorification of humanity after Christ returns and was gifted a glimpse into our coming experience merging with God’s all encompassing love. It was pure unadulterated bliss, peace, love and joy all together in union. The puppet master merging with major and a new being is born kind of reminds me of what I felt deep in my soul with God. It was incredible and as soon as I came back into my body I started balling and realized the waking reality we all experience is a nightmare without knowing and merging with God. Exiting the matrix solely depends on our relationship with the one true God and His son Jesus Christ.

Hey I watched your it video. And instead of having 2 people to fight pennywise mike can call all the losers BEFORE IT'S RETURN. The year was 2016 (and let say mike can call all of them including Stanley on 2013 or 2014 ) and convince the losers to do fear drugs in 2 weeks like in your vid. And Stanley and do CBT he doesn't have to tell the psychologist about pennywise or he/she get confused. ( I know they didn't bring weapons except bev who has a metal rod but they SHOULD BRING A BASEBALL BAT GUN AXE CROWBAR METAL PIPE SHOVEL MACHETE or ANYTHING IF MIKE REMEMBER EVERYTHING IN Derry shouldn't he like tell them that they should get Before meeting Bill at the well house while there in a library!? ) Continued with the plan The losers can realize all that they remember and when 2016 comes out they must bring weapons if they realized if they can make pennywise small by not being afraid and picture him as a small helpless creature before in the final battle (instead of using the lobotomy surgery ) and the town will be saved . Also they don't have to do the ritual instead that was the problem in the movie It would have been better if they do a plan like this
