Ghost 'n Goblins + Ghouls 'n Ghosts Mini Arcades from Replicade Unboxing & Play Test

Two new Mini Arcades by Replicade have arrived all the way from the US. This time we have both Ghosts 'n Goblins and it's very nice sequel Ghouls 'n Ghosts.
Let's unbox both of them and give them a play.

I’ve been secretly collecting new wave toys and was absolutely blown away by their last two games food fight and GNG. The build quality has certainly improved and I love how they’ve recreated the crt screen. Have you got the space invaders yet Tony from numskull? It’s AMAZING!

I haven't got any of the Numskull ones unfortunately, the price over here for them is crazy ($AU499) but both of the Space Invaders models look absolutely fantastic. Never say never :) The quality of the New Wave Toys units is improving with each one, and even though I am not that good at them, these two are some of my favourites that have come out so far, and they have definitely nailed the CRT effect now. I missed that the coin slot actually works too!

That's a great game to have a mini console for. I find the look of these quite striking. They do seem to have this proper arcade cab vibe about them. I do wonder about the size and playability though, although you seem to be fine with those controls.

The controls can be a little fiddly, but I can play them quite well once I get used to the placement. Playing in the dark doesn't help ;) I was having trouble with pressing diagonally with Ghouls 'n Ghosts but reaching around the camera doesn't help. I actually got further in Ghosts 'n Goblins than I was expecting.

I noticed the same problem with the diagonals. This is a big problem for me, because diagonals work just fine with the ROM for both games if you're playing in Retroarch, but the Replicade mini blocks movement if a diagonal is accidentally made. It interferes not only with running, but also going up ladders. If you use a USB controller, diagonals still block movement. I have contacted Replicade about the issue and will post here if and when I get a reply.

I notice on mine too, that the left coin door, that’s accept coins, is dimmer than the right coin slot, thought mine was defective, but watching multiple reviews, seem the same on there machine too.

I don't think so on these ones. You can use the little coins in the left coin slot though.
