The script for the game was just brilliant. The jokes and call backs to the previous films made the game perfect.
@kapiteinfox31423 жыл бұрын
I love the game, but sadly the script is the core thing that doesn't work for me. The callbacks are so over the top that they're practically Family Guy style references. "Hey Egon, remember how you always say print is dead?" And the less said about the paper thin Venkman/Alyssa romantic thruline the better. Rather than a "the actual Ghostbusters 3", to me it feels like a Ghostbusters Universal Studios ride. A "best of" that's very enjoyable, but pretty bad as a standalone script.
@speedsterjay3 жыл бұрын
@@kapiteinfox3142 while I respect your opinion and can see why you'd feel that way about aspects of the writing keep in mind, like sequels in any format, there's always going to be a TON of overlapping. @@speedsterjay you know how to conversate. Rare to see these days. I agree with points each have made on this thread. I'm playing it again now as my family gets ready for the Afterlife premiere. Watching the movies, cartoons, and gaming. But I actually enjoy the game play, but I can also see how someone else could easily find it boring. The throwbacks are over the top, but I like how you mention that that would be to us, who know the movies by heart. Never thought of it like that. But I think its a great game for an adaptation from a movie. And it'll always be on my shelf.
@DarkSyg3 жыл бұрын
Ah memories. I worked on this game in the initial stages of the development. A fun and little known fact. Don't the credits fool you. A lot of people who did a lot of the core work on the game at Vivendi and Sierra were uncredited. Many of the guys who worked on F.E.A.R. also worked on this title as they were in the same office building. Anyways regarding the deleted Parade level, the idea was to have black slime slither up Blinkers Float and possess the dog float, horrifying Ray and making Egon comment about how Dogs were pretty apt Destructors. Egon: -watches two cars go flying- "..Blinkers likes to destroy things I see. ..Like all dogs." Probably my favorite line that was cut. The level involved chasing across rooftops after Blinkers as well as through the street. The hardest mobs I faced while working on the game however were easily the Order of St. Pelican Shriner Ghosts, which were absurdly hard to trap. The end result was supposed to be that the Ghostbusters reached the Mayor at the Parade and defeated Blinkers, who.. soaked Peck in slime from head to toe and prompted his melt down on the Ghostbusters, which later played out at the Museum instead. God Bless ya Harold Ramis. Hope this game, it's legacy, and the upcoming "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" are worthy tributes to you. Pretty sure they will be since a lot of us on the floor knew ages ago what the entire deal was with Ivo Shandor (and I won't say to not spoil the coming movie). We the originals will also always remember how you wanted to name this Ghostbusters III, but could not due to various bean-counters interfering in the game / creative design process, but we all knew your passion for this title and how you considered it the 'capstone' of the trilogy. So to anyone else out there in the world who like me worked on the title, I'll close with this. It was an honor to work with all of you, even if it was a time when Microsoft Sam was saying Shandor's lines (which was bloody ackward). "I. Am. The. Architect. -pause pause- I. am. The. Destroyer." or to try and defeat Stay-Puft with Gas-Barrels or "Flaming Marshmallows". Keep busting ghosts folks. I hope this game and it's remaster were fun to play for you! If they were, then all my late-nights andwork was worth every minute of overtime. Cheers.

Great video! I was actually able to test the game at Terminal Reality back in the Summer of 2008, you hit on everything that was in the level. The boss fight was never completed in the version I played, and the only thing you missed was that the painting from the end of Ghostbusters 2 was hanging over the entrance inside of Ray's Occult store. Venkman asks why Ray kept the painting. This was all before they decided to have Vigo in the firehouse. While riding on a float you used the trap on top of Ecto 1 to slam Ghosts into it, instead of it only being used briefly in the early Stay Puff level. You also had to travel through Ray's Occult and onto the roof because the street was eventually blocked. You would go onto the roof, fight a few of the circus ghosts, and then go back down and meet the mayor, culminating in the boss battle. Also one more thing, originally the PKE meter was the one from the movies, and instead the Ghost Dictionary was designed to look like an old book.

@@MaximumCarne : Publisher Data East released an arcade game based on The Real Ghostbusters back in 1987, which did see ports to some home gaming consoles of the era. Despite the game only having three playable characters(which look nothing the cartoon and Winston is absent) and the game itself being a reskin of the Japanese arcade game Meikyuu Hunter G, I have heard decent things about it. Activision also released a Real Ghostbusters video game for the Gameboy back in 1993. Sadly it was not that good. Dr. Peter Venkman was the only playable character and could sadly only use his Proton Pack to break blocks at his feet. Ghosts were disposed of via bombs as you made your way through each level. The game itself was just a reskin of a puzzle game that Kemco and Activision had already published overseas, one version with Mickey Mouse and the other with Garfield. Well the level wasn’t a big lost atleast….the main missed opportunity i feel is, they could have had a flashback of “Winstons” first time busting ghost….it would have been nice having a game version of everything from the first film aswell (not the whole movie just winstons first ghost case) as telling a piece of the story everyone would have liked…the problem would just be fitting it into the plot… or it could have just been a story they were telling the rookie before he goes to bust his first ghost…like a training type flash back of them explaining what its like in the field first time out

The jump between defeating the chairman and the cutscene does seem a bit odd. I like to think that since the level starts with them coming up from the sewers and the chairman boss was in the sewer that the parade level would take place after the museum level and then the cutscene with Mulligan and Peck then go to the Sedgwick again. This level would have been so cool, make the game a little bit longer and make cuts seem a little bit more fluid.
