Although, to the casual observer, the Corsair Scimitar and Logitech G600 may LOOK similar, the G600 has a feature that no other gaming mouse that I know of has, the "G-shift" click button to the right of the right-click key. I use this on a regular basis when playing World of Warcraft and now consider it a "necessary" addition. The Logitech Gaming Software is far superior to any other game controller software and once you experience it, you will hate the competition. Although the G600 has good backlighting, it does not take it too excess like the Corsair. Its adjustable, 8400 dpi (max) sensor is slower than the Corsair but plenty fast enough for my needs. I would highly recommend grabbing a spare while you still can---Logitech no longer advertises the G600 in their lineup on their official website.

I know this video was 4 years ago, but man this helped me so much. I have been using my g600 and have never really gotten used to how big it is and I've only ever been able to use 6/12 keys at a time lol... Went looking for a comparison to these mice and this is the first one I find and is everything I needed to convince me to purchase the scimitar even in 2020. Thank you so much!

Exactly the same for me. A few days ago, I've bought the G600 after years of rocking Razer Nagas (all versions). While Naga Trinity was by far the most comfortable mouse I've ever used, I went through 4 mice via warranty (either double clicking or side panels not fully attaching) and finally gave up after I got money instead of a 5th mouse. Got G600 because of good reviews. And while G600 is incredibly comfortable in palm grip, reaching the first row of buttons is insanelly hard and the mouse itself is very heavy, enough to make my carpal tunnel scream (Naga didn't do that to me). Constant switching midgame from claw to fingertip grip doesn't help my case, lol, it's pretty much unusable if you don't have large hands or don't stick to palm all the time. A big shame, since it seems sturdy and well made, but at least larger hands will have a blast with this mouse. I might try the Scimitar Pro and see how it goes tho. I just need a Naga-lookalike that won't break in 3 months. A big shame that Razer cannot seem to make a lasting mouse, otherwise their product would be worth all the money they ask for it.
@shushuda4 жыл бұрын
I'm back with Scimitar Elite and would like to write my thoughts about it for those who are still undecided (keep in mind it's my first day with this mouse). I take back my words about Razer Trinity being the most comfy. Damn, that Scimitair feels perfect for my weird claw/fingertip grips. The side panel seems sturdy, my thumbs are small enough to comfortably click even those 1, 4 buttons that people compain about. The place where you rest the base of your thumb is profiled, it's like they cut out some of the plastic to make more room for your hand and it's divine for claw/fingertip grips - with Razer, I still felt that place bump harshly into my hand sometimes, but here it's perfectly profiled. The buttons themselves are clicky, but the first row seems to be more mushy when just touching them (they click fine tho) and the 12 button is hard to click on the side (seems like the activation point is at the edge close to button 9 instead of in the middle), which weirds me out sometimes. The two Back/Forward buttons behind the scroll are very hard to reach and my usual technique of clicking the further button with the base of my finger sometimes clicks both. But I think it's a case of getting used to it. The rest is great. The material has a nice soft feeling (I mean the couting). The scroll is fantastic, but the click could be softer, it's requiring a bit of force to activate. Overall, I think I've finally found my Razer replacement that's actually more comfy. It's a cool mouse. I just hope it will last a bit, since it uses Omron switches (prone to fail with double clicking). We shall see.

@@shushuda WTF I have small hands and never a single problem. In fact, people with big hands could have some issues at miss-clicking the side buttons...
@shushuda2 жыл бұрын
@@marcelomarquez2089 Well, I don't know what to tell you, it was the biggest mouse I've ever had in my hands. It felt like trying to grab and lift a football. I have a weird grip that shifts between claw and fingertip, depending on the game, and I just never felt in control of that mouse. It also forced my hand to be constantly angled upwards (imagine lifting your palm to do the "stop" motion, but less severe), which caused a lot of wrist pain. I just need to keep my wrist as straight as possible, which was impossible with the way this mouse is built. Also, I have female hands - small with long skinny fingers - so it might also be why I need to angle my hand so much to grab this mouse properly. Your hands might be bigger/heftier, simple as that. I'm still rocking that Corsair Scimitar Elite, btw. I had to RMA it pretty soon after getting it due to a double click, but the second unit I got has been stellar. It's incredibly comfy, it lacks that weird bump close to the wrist, which allows me to keep my wrist almost completely straight. It doesn't hurt and I feel confident when using the mouse. And I had to set the side panel to be completely in the back, as close to the wrist as possible, to be able to reach front buttons. So I might just have weird hands, idk. I click the 10-12 buttons with the thumb joint, lmao. That second unit has a much better side button panel, btw. No mushy buttons, they respond even when pressed at an angle. That first unit must have been faulty in this regard, the new one is great. I recently had an issue with the scroll wheel skipping or confusing directions, but I've removed the upper panel and cleaned the mechanism, also applied a bit of sewing machine oil to it and it's working like new now. I can definitely recommend this mouse.

G600 is a great mouse. I was used to the freewheel scroll of other Logitech mice and was disappointed to find the G600 did not have it. Disassembling it I found the tension spring on the mousewheel was very simple to remove, and after applying a dab of lithium grease on the wheel axle, it scrolled smooth as silk, no difference whatsoever to the mice that ship with their patented 'smooth scroll' ability. Also, removing both the weights was a massive improvement to an already terrific piece of hardware. I got about 12 years out of my last set of Omron buttons before deciding to move on to a mouse with more features, and I'm looking forward to another decade+ out of these ones. In the 12 years of daily use (intensive CAD and gaming) I only needed to open the buttons 3 or so times to clean the copper contacts (due to ghostclicking etc). The lids of these Omrons are super easy to pop and if you are very careful with the internals they are super easy to refurbish like new. I couldn't ever see the need to get in there with a soldering iron to replace the buttons at all.

I love the G600, have used 5 of them over the past 7ish years. I did try the Scimitar when it came out, but it had one major issue that made it unusable for me. Moving the buttons forwards and backwards also changes where the buttons are vertically. Due to large hands I had to move buttons all the way forward which makes the 1 and 4 buttons so close to the surface that my thumb would rub onto my table top. If they changed it, perhaps had three different vertical positions so this didn't happen I would give it a go.

I bought my G600 around 2018/2019. I have heard nothing but good things from logitech and I really like MMO mice, I have large hands and play MOBAs. So the general larger size and buttons fit my preferences perfectly. The GHUB software is very painful to use. At first I thought I just had to go through the learning curve. I believe I tried configuring this mouse 4 times each time learning and tinkering more. The same problems keep happening though. I change no settings, no windows update, no software update. Yet my DPI always feels off. The G7 and G8 keys (DPI switching buttons) by default have this configuration; G7 (bottom key) is DPI down G8 (upper key) is DPI cycle. So I decided instead of having G8 be cycle I would just have the top button turn up DPI, and the bottom button turn down DPI. Now sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. Also using onboard memory has given me so many issues. I had a bug recently where pressing the button to turn the on board memory on/off wouldn't do anything. I had it off then thought I would try it. Clicking the button does nothing. So I fiddled around with profiles, duplicating my main profile to edit it, making new profiles. Somehow through that I was able to turn on the onboard memory. But then once again the button in the software wouldn't work. So because onboard memory was on, I can't change any settings at all. The only tool tip you get is "To configure your settings turn off the onboard memory". Very very frustrating. I have been trying to navigate the website to report these issues but their website is clunky and convoluted as well. I will be avoiding Logitech products from now on. G600 by far the most comfortable mouse I have ever used. I love the tilt scroll (didn't know I needed it until I had it) and the button options are great. The "G Shift" gimmick is also very frustrating as you can't rebind the key, only disable (because rebinding the key shows it is rebound, but doesn't function).

Thank you so much for this video, You saved me from wasting my money on corsair's scimitar, It was a great review, However I was always skeptical due to the 3rd finger thingy not actually clicking like on the G600, and due to the narrower width, but the tilt scroll wheel was the nail in the coffin on it, Logitech has good design ideas just bad braided cables from my experience with them.

I love my g600 but I have to unplug it constantly. A button on the second layer of keybinds will get stuck in limbo and no longer function. For example I bind an important key to gshift g9 and it will just stop working in the middle of the action. This would be fine because I have it bound to the keyboard too but it won't let me use that key either. Not until I unplug the mouse and plug it back in 🤷♂I'm theorizing maybe when I let go of mouse click 3 it keeps g9 being held down? This is my 2nd replacement and it still does this. The third ring finger button is useful, but the Corsair Scimitar has better mouse switches. The G600 will start to double click like crazy, and from what I've read from Reddit, even on the newer G04 has the logitech double click of death issue.

I want to try the Scimitar but am worried it'll have the same problem as my Katar. While attempting to clean gamer gunk out of the grooves on the scroll wheel. If any rubbing alcohol gets between the rubber ring & the plastic scroll wheel itself, it'll slip for days. Has this happened to you & are the grooves on Scimitar's scroll wheel any wider than the Katar?
@HomeBrewedHero7 жыл бұрын
If your outer rubber section is slipping, I'd suggest taking some epoxy and lifting the rubber carefully and gluing it back into place. I haven't encountered any issues with my Scimitar yet! Great great mouse!

+HomeBrewedHero Thanks & I thought about that but was worried it'd void the warranty. Although I think it's almost expired anyway. I have the Pro RGB, unfortunately. I play a lot of world of warcraft so a 12 side button mouse is ideal. The 12 side buttons are also great for MOBA's. The mouse is comfortable enough but there is a major problem. The user interface to modify the RGB is anything but user friendly and often times doesn't even save your modifications so you are often left resetting those modifications you just made. As of now i have had the mouse for about two or three months and not a day goes by where the mouse doesn't have a problem with the DPI or the binds I have set. And now the 12 side buttons don't even work, again, it has been two or three months. Now I'm screwed out of an $80 mouse. Bottomline, if you're thinking of purchasing an MMO/MOBA mouse, maybe pass up the RGB.

I have both, and I used Scimitar for a few years. The scroll wheel on the scimitar started failing, and I had to take it apart and fix it, other than that it's been nice. My whole setup is corsair, The pc case, power supply, mouse, keyboard, mouse pad, even the freaking chair, but regardless of that, I just had to go back to G600. My G600 is probably around 10 years old, but still the clicks are more sensitive than Scimitar, also it has 2 features that corsair doesn't have, Scroll wheel tilt so u have 2 more keys on the wheel, and 3rd mouse click button. G600 is the Original one, it's cheaper, and it can't break, It's simply just better than the copycats.

I myself coudln't replace the g600 with a Corsair basically due to two reasons, ONE the g-shift button, the ring finger thats on g600, I've got used to it and actually analyzed it to many games, that I can't use nothing else now, which is kind of sad. second reason which is VERY IMPORTANT, when I used razer naga and g600 I always have used the wheel tilts, left and right, to an advantage, and they are very useful actually, and for the life of me I can't understand why Corsair didn't implement tilt left and right, and for that, I cannot use this mouse, nor many others I would say, some people would argue that you already have 12 buttons, blah blah blah why the tilt, well, the wheel TILT is important now.

(and ofc used to have a naga 2012) Only issue I ever had was that the enter button would stick in the software if I pressed enter while logging in to windows.(the blackwidow) Software update a while later fixed that. As far as I understand it, the scimitar is unable to save macros to the memory. You can save lighting and DPI settings to the device, but not macros or hotkeys.

So I have been playing MMO games for just over a year now (mainly FFXIV) and I decided to invest into an MMO mouse and I did go with the Logitech G600 mainly due to me having larger hands and I can say I'm VERY happy with my purchase. I can't speak for it in competition to other MMO mice but this review only further solidifies that I made the right choice. Everyone was yelling Scimitar this or Naga that but im not a razer fan in ANY context and I've never been a fan of many Corsair programs as they've always made me feel a little lost and I only use a corsair keyboard so yeah. Good review it felt like you really were championing both of these mice for what makes them unique. 10/10 better than any IGN review in the last 10 years easily 🤣🤣🤣

Man, can you help me? Basically im worried about this yellow plastic stuff imgur.com/a/EgHkF Isnt this will prevent thumb finger to go into some positions? Especially when buttons moved up to the end to this yellow stuff. Im actually pretty dissapointed that corsair not even explain anywhere the purpose of this stuff. I mean g600 not have it, naga not have it, nyth not have it, so its definitely some new element of desigh, why they just silent about it? Mind-boggling.
@HomeBrewedHero8 жыл бұрын
baksblr11 I haven't found that to be an issue and I have very large hands. I could see how you could see that as a potential issue though. The mouse has that design there to house an led strip which illuminates the 12 key switches as an ambient light. Since the 12 key is adjustable (forward and back) it shouldn't be an issue regardless of the size of your hands.
@baksblr118 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Also some people say about slippery keypad, what make it hard to lift the mouse without pressing keypad button sometimes, is it a thing?
@HomeBrewedHero8 жыл бұрын
baksblr11 I haven't noticed that either. The 12 keys take a fair amount of force to actuate. They can get slippery if you have sweaty/oily skin but lifting the mouse hasn't been an issue for me either. Most of the grip when I lift comes from the palm area of my thumb due to the shape of the mouse. Not the thumb tip. Hope that helps!
@morsmagne6 жыл бұрын
The Corsair Scimitar (Pro) is a bad mouse if you have big hands and you're an MMO player. This is because the 'number 1' button is too close to the table when the button panel is forward. In fact, it's unusable because you'll be pressing this button a lot and you'll develop thumb soreness because of the constant friction against the desk. However, if you have small hands, there might not be a problem because the button panel can be moved back and up off the table.
@HomeBrewedHero6 жыл бұрын
Mors Magne I’ve never noticed this but that’s a very valid point. My right thumb is calloused from years of playing guitar so that’s possibly why I’ve never felt this. Great point.

I just received my G600 and I'm not very happy with it. The button for the ring finger is WAY too light which is resulting in inadvertent clicks. But the big problem is that after making some changes to key function, the software is seemingly assigning random function to the buttons at random times. I've read on the Logitech support page other people have similar issues without a single response from Logitech. This has been with the mouse profile being stored on the computer. I'm going to try this again using the mouse on-board memory. If this problem continues the mouse is useless, and I'll be sending it back for refund. I cannot believe the total lack of support from Logitech on this.

Logitech quality has gone downhill immensely. The mx518 from 2005, still works, but doesn't have enough buttons, so I bought the G600. It lasted maybe a year or two before double clicking, so I bought another one because they are inexpensive. It started double clicking within 3 months, and I have been dealing with it ever since then. I am looking into the corsair version, and hopefully it will last longer.
@user-Cata7sti7ma73 жыл бұрын
double clicking are often caused by dust getting into the switch. i am using the G600 since 2013 and all i have to do is clearning the interior and put a bit of hydrogen peroxide (alcool) in the switch with a Q-tips. Scimitar has five individually lit zones of rgb lighting that can all be customised in icue, has macro keys that can be moved around to suit you, feels smooth as fuck, can go up to 16,000 dpi, looks better and isn't discontinued. The only reason i can think of for someone saying the g600 is better is either if they have had one for a long time and are attached to it or it fits their hand better.
