This was a coordinated effort from her fans wanting to express their "Love" for Lara during a dark period in her professional and personal life which resulted in health issues and coupled by cruel comments by the French media. She began to question her existence and contemplated suicide. I believe a commenter in another reaction to Je t'aime stated that this was her 1st live appearance in a few years. The fans and pianist knew this was going to happen. Read that some 6000+ fans were given cards with instructions on what to do. You hear a faint cry from the audience at the beginning of the song "Don't sing Lara", hence the bewildered look on her face! She had stated in interviews that at this moment in time she knew life was worth living and subsequently crawled her way back into the light.

👉Je t'aime means: "I love you" and the audience sings: We love you (On t’aime). I think that every artist can only wish for fans who stand by you and take an interest when you go through a dark time. As far as I know she had a trouble time and she had also found out that Celin Dion and her management had prevented her career in the USA. Lara’s fans made an agreement with the pianist and sang the song for Lara. Have Celin Dion fans ever sung to her to comfort and support her? I think at that moment she felt that the USA is not the hub of the world and that she will have a great career like that.

Thanks Giacomo, Grazie mile, we are friends indeed. I love italian people too ;=) Some context here: her fanbase knew she was having professional and personal challenges and wanted to show her support. The song says je t’aime and they changed it to "on t’aime", we love you! As you said she is very sensitive and emotional, that’s one of the reason she is such a good performer. But she is also very humble, it shows here in the way she receives this surprise and establishes a dialog with the crowd. Lara call her fans her "Angels" and she said she went thru big challenges thanks to their support.

The rivalry between Italians and French is pretty much an Italian thing. Except maybe when it comes to soccer, the French don't really hold any enmity towards Italians or Spanish for that matter. I find the French have a positive opinion of their Southern neighbors in general, but they do despise English-speakers, chiefly the English or "les rosbifs" as they call them. 😁 Also 1 out of 3 people in Southern France has an Italian grandparent!

Nobody in France hates italians, most of french people don't even know this rivalry thing exist and if you ask the french wich is their favourit country besides France, 8 out of 10 will tell you Italy. There was racism towards italians a hundred years ago, but not nowadays. And in fact it was not only towards italians, but also towards spanish people, portuguese, or any other country that massively emigrated to France in the begining of the XX century. As for the "feeling superior" thing, it's just an old cliché. Everybody has the right to be proud of his country all over the world, but not in France. If you're proud you are arrogant. If a Italian says "Italy is the most beautiful country in the world", everybody finds it funny or normal, if a french says the exact same thing he's an asshole feeling superior. You should think a little about these stereotypes. We, french, are tired of this shit.
