I myself am excited for the Dark Souls 2 release. Cut it some slack, it's only in beta. They intended to make the game feel, and be harder. Maybe that's why the combat feels sluggish, to mess with your timings. DKS 2 seems to have some impressive design with the large bridge shown in the trailer. The phantoms having to use their estus, and heal on their own is a step up for invaders to have a leg up. No host to tag out to heal anymore. Check out Vatividya's coverage over DKS2 info.

They can,mand it triggers so if they do the "Block-ignoring stab" into players back, which Sword silver knights also have. They rarely go for that one, though, and less do you expect them to time that when your back is facing them. It's just way telegraphed
