Giant Blooded Characters in Pathfinder 2e?

Hey guys, we MAY be getting PCs that have the 'giant' trait in Pathfinder 2e (wild speculation). Plus, some history of one particular monster in the industry.

Personally, as a player, I really don't care if the new versatile heritage doesn't convey the "giant" trait. What I would be looking for is "giant-like" racial abilities. The Nephilim don't get demon or celestial traits but their abilities are totally rad for the half-angel or half-devil character concepts for instances. Like you can't get any more on brand then a racial trait called Halo. :)

Very nice analysis of the history of the Oni! Don’t worry about it being “political”, either: explaining possible motivations for things is not the same as taking a position on them!

You could play an Ogre Mage in the Complete Humanoid Handbook from AD&D 2nd edition.

I think oni have been reclassified as spirits rather than fiends because they where a special case of outsiders in Pathfinder 1e known as native outsiders, as in outsiders originating from the Material plane, same as kami their counterparts. In pathfinder 2e we got oni quite early on (Bestiary 2, 2020), however in later adventures (Fist of the Ruby Phoenix) it became necessary to represent some outsider like creatures pulled from Asian folklore which weren't innately malevolent, thus they couldn't be fiends or undead and where classified as spirits, most of them incorporeal to boot. Later we got kami who became the first corporeal spirit creatures from what I know and now oni have been changed to fit more in line with the rest of them.

I wouldn't worry too much about avoiding politics when you're talking about PF2e; if some grognard wants to fume piss and vinegar about "political correctness" mucking up their feeling of exclusivity, well, they have to have ignored a ton of content to have even made it this far. I appreciate that Paizo goes out of their way to be inclusive, and I suspect that appreciation extends to the majority of their playerbase.

I prefer the Ogre Magi nomenclature over "Mage" as sounding too blah in comparison.

From a guy with a degree in English, there is an interesting debate over which nomenclature is ‘correct.’ Yes, ‘Magi’ is the ‘correct’ plural of mage, but there is an argument that all ‘new’ words should follow the standard rules for making plurals, and ‘ogre mage’ could be argued either as a new word (or compound word) as it is a new fictional monster, or just a combination of two previously existing words. There’s actually a debate over if all the wall-crawlers in the ‘spider-verse’ movies should be referred to as ‘Spider-Mans’ or ‘Spider-Men.’

Iirc, there were originally racial feats for Oni Tieflings could take before the remaster, My only gripe is that I don’t want all giantkin to be oni based. WoTC has a book just for giants, and feats for every type of giant. Hoping we can get some of those

I don't think so? I can't find them anywhere. Quipploth, Velstrac, and Rakshasa descended tieflings made the leap to 2e in the Ancestry Guide and Asura descended tieflings debuted in Impossible Lands, but I can't find lineage feats for tieflings descended from Oni (or Divs and Demodands, the other 1e tiefling parents)

Don't want to get political and then shows the WotC logo over twice the size of the @Paizo logo. Well, @PsiPrimeProductions1 what about that? . . Always remember, covering/discussing a topic does NOT imply support for NOR anathema towards it. It is a sad state as one must assume this isn't the case. Sizing logos is REALLY interesting. And by interesting I mean difficult. In the program I use, it is based on dimensions and not the area they take up on screen.
