But u dont pickup a dog with that "MANY" stitches/staples...whatever...u know damn well that pulled on them and that's why he wanted to bite..... even when I had my female Alaskan malamute fixed they told me not to touch her and let her do as she needed to get comfortable. I'm sorry but that right there was a jackass move!!!! You hurt that dog!!!!!! Hes winning cause he is in pain!!!! He wants to stay curled because if hes straightens out IT PULLS ON THE STITCHES/STAPLES!!! I just had both where they had to take out my gallbladder in the worst way ever with staples & stitches a 12" cut under my right chest. I felt the pain when he was lifted up. And the pain meds wear off fast and its not enough for animals....I felt so bad for him I wont finish the video...

Yeah, they probably should have kept him overnight for observation. They thought he was doing very well but it was the anesthesia withdrawal that was the most bothersome. Once that wore off he was almost back to himself. It was hard keep him quiet and idle.

I'm sorry if I seem insensitive, but I've had two lung surgeries and my incision site is roughly in the same place that Kenai's is, and I know the pain he's in. Trying to pick him up is the LAST thing that should have been done. It doesn't seem like anybody was thinking, even though you knew in advance he was having major surgery. Or, maybe it just didn't occur to you because you've never had major surgery in a location that can't be immobilized, so you can't do anything but bear the pain. I hope he had some good doggie narcotics - he needed some doggie Dilaudid. Poor baby!

Thanks, Duke. He is getting back to himself more and more everyday! As for the darned squirrels, they know Kenai is a big softie. I have seen several digging up acorns within 2 feet of Kenai's sleeping face. I wish I had that on film. Each time I run to get my camera, the squirrels are gone when I return!!!

Leah, his crying lasted all night long. Seemed he moaned with every breath. He only stopped the cycle when I call out his name and the break was short lived. I was so exhausted the next day and so was Kenai. I slept on the ottoman of his bed for some of the night, I moved to the floor a couple of times. Brutal! But worth it. He is doing very well, now.

@Kelly Sydnor, your poor baby. Made me sad to see him in so much pain, poor baby. But I'm also happy to see that he has gotten so much better under your TLC. I'm so happy that Princess Dumpy is doing so well. On an other note, it's so scary to see that our little fury babies are having human illnesses. I grew up in Europe and we raised Sheep's, Rabbits and all kinds of other animals and we had dogs and cats and not once while I was growing up did I ever see any of our animals come down with human illnesses. That shows you right there, that there is something in the food they eat that makes them ill. We also have a little rescue Tea Cup Yorkie, he is only 3 pounds of sugar and the vet said he is about 5-7 years old and we have to be so careful what we feed him. He has gotten sick a few times already from what he ate, only to end up at the vets office. Kelly it's a joy to watch you and see how your babies drive. God bless you for being so kind to them.
@KellySydnorRollwithCole4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, G Read. I agree with you about the food, for sure. I researched and switched dog food brands for so long due to internet reviews and consumer threads. I started cooking my own food for the dogs for a time and have now switched to Fresh Pet. They like it but get bored, quickly. I mix it up by cooking homemade and Fresh Pet, now.

Oh my looks painful- just glad it was benign. Lil' Dumpy was looking like "How can I help "? Blessings and healing .
@KellySydnorRollwithCole4 жыл бұрын
I was so relieved it was benign, too. There was much discussion about how rapidly it grew, the fact that it wasn't protruding out like lipoma, it was hard and didn't move; how it may have infiltrated his muscle and (worse yet) they may have to amputate his leg if the arterial nerve was involved. So lucky it was growing under the muscle and not into it. The tumor had to be removed in 3 pieces in order to get it out from under the muscle.

Thank you, Bobbi. Yes, the first night was really rough. Clem was out of town and I had to figure a way to take Kenai outside for a bathroom in the middle of the night. I ended up waking Quint to help me get Kenai back inside. Kenai laid down in the cold grass and wouldn't get back up. He can be stubborn and he prefers to be outside at night. Only Quint can pick him up when he is all the way down on the ground. Too heavy for me!

First I'd like to thank you for taking the time to film and edit this but most of all for sharing with us. He is definitely a Daddy's not but mostly just part of your family. I love how vocal his breed is. He looks awesome in your t-shirts! And little Dumpy was really concerned for him. I grew up (age 5 - 19) with an Alaskan Malamute and she was very vocal as well. Seems like yesterday that Dad brought her home but in reality that was 58 years ago! I can't wait to see or hear about his first "freedom" run. Again I thank you for sharing your family with us ~ ✌🌷
@KellySydnorRollwithCole4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, karola! I am happy to share this. I searched all over the internet for something like Kenai was going to experience and couldn't find anything. Lots of lipomas that protrude like balls from dogs but nothing like Kenai had. I hope this will help others. I like his t-shirts, too! He is still wearing one because he loves to lay in the sun and he is hairless in that vulnerable spot. He has already gotten too much sun on his bare area. Now I am using the shirt as a physical sun block! We love how vocal Kenai is, but it isn't constant. He saves his chattiness for when he really wants something.

Wow momma Kelly, that was rough at first especially! When poor Kenai would just stand wherever with his head down... I'm guessing because he couldn't figure out how to lay down without hurting! Man, I just wanted to fix it for him as I know you did too! I'm so glad he's on the mend and back to some normalcy! You're so beautiful inside and out Momma Kelly! Keep up the amazing work and enjoy all your babies, human and canine! Much love to all of you!
@KellySydnorRollwithCole4 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Rebekah. It was hard to see Kenai standing so still for so long with his head down. Much of that was due to anesthesia withdrawal. He was unsteady and groggy and didn't have good balance. I know that confused him and he was afraid to move in any way that would cause pain. His shoulder muscle was a mess, too, due to surgery so Kenai probably couldn't sense where is was in space and time. He wasn't supposed to go up and down stairs or jump on furniture, for obvious reasons, so we had to watch him like a hawk when he was in his chair. We had to lift him up and down when he wanted to be on or off his chair. He leaps into his chair without a second thought, now! Whew!

She came back Home 4 Days after the Surgery, with Stiches where her... Uh... Vejiga? (I don't know the Name in English) it's. She was Chilling and actually Happy during her Recuperation. I actually had to Lay in Bed with My Dog while Hugging Her because She would Try to Run. She's Fine Nowadays. Being My Little Mom... Yes, I am a Teen, so... She Believes I am Her Puppy. I actually Feel Better when She's acting so Caring for Me. Being a Mother to Me... I wish My Biological Mother was a Mom to Me.
