The Giant Talon is a great mountain bike for riding singletrack trails, gravel tracks and cycle paths.
The lightweight frame is made from Giant’s own ALUXX aluminium. This performance level frame material features 6061 alloy that is thinner in low stress areas to reduce weight without compromising strength. The frameset is handbuilt in their own factory.
The Talon’s trail-oriented geometry offers balanced handling for confident riding on cross-country tracks. All the cables are internally routed, and this includes provision for a dropper post, should you wish to upgrade
The Talon offers a smooth ride for a hardtail. This is thanks to the lowered seatstay junction on the rear of the frame that offers compliance to absorb some of the vibrations you get when cycling over bumpy terrain.
The suspension fork on the top models is Giant’s own design. This features an air spring for easy adjustment and hydraulic damping for a plush feeling. The SR Suntour forks on the other models offer effective trail smoothing performance too. Travel is between 80 and 100mm depending on frame and wheel size.
The Talon is available with either 27.5” or 29” wheels. Most sizes allow you to choose whether you want more nimble handling with 27.5” wheels or faster rolling with 29” wheels. The smaller frame sizes suit smaller wheels but the extra speed of 29” wheels is hard to resist.
Giant are one of the few cycling brands that own their own factory. This helps to make the Talon one of the most competitively priced hardtails for getting into the sport of mountain biking.

Couldn’t agree more! Recently bought a Talon 29er to replace a Trek Marlin 5. Giant is a far superior product in every way. Finish on the product is first class. Trek paint would chip at the slightest hint of gravel. Everything works exactly as it should, and the service from Tredz was first class.

I do agree with that. My 2022 talon 3 upgraded to a 1x12 Shimano Deore GS, 2.25 Maxxis Ardent Exo TR tires and a 120mm airfork from SR Suntour makes it a bliss to ride in both xc trails and on the road. As a modest trail rider this is for me the best value for money bike.

Just bought my Giant Talon! Incredible! At my local bike shop they gave me 2 bikes to take out on a test drive!. Trek. Marlin #4 and then the Giant! After riding these 2 bikes I said to the sales rep plus the owner : " All due respect to you guys what your selling here but the Trek feels like a toy compared to the Giant! Write me up! 😊

So I’m 6 foot and was gifted a giant talon 3 but it is a xs with the 27.5s on it I have been riding it and at a dirt pump track with jumps and am looking for some down hill trails but have really been wondering what the bigger sizes would be like and how much of a difference it makes because hearing it’s for people under 5 foot shocked me

I have a 2016 talon 4 and I’d put it up against anything in its class today. Hydraulic disc brakes, locking fork, tubeless tires, 27.5’s on the feet, etc…

Hi. I bought my Giant Talon 5 a few months ago, and I love it. The one thing I am sad about is the forks, they are mentioned to be 100mm of travel, but the furthest I have gotten is 40mm. Please can someone let me know what I’m doing wrong? The reload is on the lowest too so I’m not sure what wrong.
