Hey, loved the video! Just to let ALL OF YOU GUYS KNOW that the trout was clearly blind. If you look at its eyes, they are dull and are likely indicative of a parasite or physical damage (Fighting, Foul hooking) etc. So the fish was struggling to recognize that Field Days was not a tree, as almost ALL of his movement was ABOVE the water and therefore not detected by their lateral line ability :)

Bro I been trout fishing all my life, stand down stream from the fish your trying to catch! Pro tip! Will go a long way! Think about the hook set and witch way there head is in the stream it's always pointing up stream, put the fly in front of them up stream so cast fro below them in the stream!
@FlyGuy1810-j3t2 ай бұрын
Also, I recommend not setting quite as hard. It’ll just jerk the fly out of their mouths. Remember the size of the hooks you’re using.

That looks like good weather for setting up a tarp if you have/had one with you. Fly fishing under a tarp in unexpected weather like that with a fire lit would be boss. Just find the most agreeable spot crossed by how long you're willing to endure rain to get there. That's my advice. Beautiful spot. Good to see you mix it up with fly fishing. Something I've yet to try.

Yo! I am so happy you came to Slovenia!! Don't feel bad, the BIG fish here are extremely smart and used to fishing. The big on knew it was safe next to you, since nobody uses spears 😂 You can read more about it from other fishermen trying Slovenian waters. Fish are too damn smart.

I've never seen a 50cm trout. 40cm is about the biggest I've seen here in the UK. How are you enjoying fly fishing? I've never done it. Like you, I fish the sea but here in the UK we don't get slobs like in Aus. The only fresh water fishing I've done was for carp. My biggest was 20 years ago easy and was 21lbs. Took me 40 mins to land (bloody reeds). What a fight that was, I'd love to see you fish for carp and hear your thoughts on how it fights compared to a Spanish Mackerel etc. In mainland Europe where you are there are some monster carp. I have a mate that goes away every summer to Europe catching carp and they are often north on 50lbs. That would be an insane fight based on my 21lbs experience. Love the channel, I wish you and your lovely family all the best. Keep living the dream mate. Much love & respect 🙏🏻

On the Murray river we have millions of carp that apparently are disgusting to eat so nobody wants them. It just seems funny to think a foreigner would catch a 20 pound carp and think he has hit the jackpot. These fish are so invasive it is illegal to put them back. The murray cod is the holy grail but I have never heard of anyone catching one. Maybe back in the sixtees.
