Thanks, I did have a look at off the shelf doors but finding some that could spray wasn't an option, I didn't want MDF & all the others were already painted or plastic coated, it was more work than making them + i know the quality if i make them, The agreement for this kitchen with the clients was to make them 👍

I've just discovered your channel thanks to rag n bone man. Your attention to detail and craftsmanship are outstanding , I wish you had fitted my kitchen instead of the so called craftsman that did the job and charged me 2 arms and a leg for an job half as good as good as yours. I shall work my way with great pleasure through your back list and become an avid follower Thank you for making these.

🙋♂️ Hi Steve, I've been a joiner for 36yrs, apprentice trained - time served n set my standards high, often getting the job perfect is not realistic in the real world trying to get jobs done within time n budget but setting my standards high means when I fall short it should still be good, be ryte, 😉 Yep there's some 'craftsmen' out there that shouldn't be doing the job, I don't plan on retiring soon n will keep filming so I'm sure plenty more vids to come, I don't film everything i do so if there's gaps then that is prob because, I can't film it, the job was done before the camera came out or i simply had to get the work done, I film with my phone because filming comes second, my work always gets priority, if the job isn't as perfect as some other's 'wood workers' channels it's because as i say, this is my job, i have to get it done within time n budget n real life isn't perfect. rooms aren't sq n mistakes happen, the trick is how to overcome those challenges so I share as many of my thoughts about the decisions i make, 👍👍 Thanks 👍

Well Dione Gid, you made a great job of the kitchen given you had to sort out bits that customer had lying about for a good time and then having to wait on appliances. I’m pleased it came together all ok for you. Thanks for sharing I’ve made use of a lot of tips you’ve given on this and wardrobe build. Cheers Gid

@Gidjoiner4 жыл бұрын
Hi, sorry Jake beat me too it, i use ScrewTite screws 4x30mm, these screws don't have a cutting bit on the tip, i don't like that feature, it makes the tip useless with no holding power esp in this circumstance where only 10-12mm is screwing into the board (end panel) you're fixing on, so small clearance hole through the 1st board, same as screwing the cabinets together i show in one of these vids, www.screwfix.com/p/screw-tite-pz-double-self-countersunk-screws-4-x-30mm-200-pack/35341

👍 There's no harm in asking, it's how i learnt by asking what sometimes seem like trivial questions, clamp the two boards together so you don't get breakout bits between the boards, best of luck 👍

Where do you get your colour matched edge banding mate? Do symphony do them?
@Gidjoiner6 жыл бұрын
I bought some 1" stuff from Lawcris for a previous kitchen i did, i took a sample in n got the closest i could, They didn't do 2" so for this job i got in touch with the company name on the 1" roll, i didn't have them bookmarked but an email & the phone no' on my phone match these people, £55 for the 2" roll 😮 I don't remember if they said they could colour match but they sent a couple of samples out so i could match against the 1" roll i had 👍 smcwholesale.co.uk/

It's a 2 part 2-1 PU enamel colour matched to Farrow & Ball Railings Grey, PU is pretty much the only paint i use so you'll see it in all my spraying vids.,

Gid did you have any problems with the coloured tape you put on the cabinets staying on the Melamine? I did a kitchen last year and it came with the self adhesive tape from Wickes and that stuck no problem, but I have just been doing another from B&Q and this one has the high gloss iron on tape, and it looked and seemed to have stuck well but a couple of days later I caught an edge and I heard it unstick 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️😒😒😒
@Gidjoiner4 жыл бұрын
Hi, not that i know of & i haven't had a phone calling me back but i do know that this tape can softened again with heat to remove it, overheating tho will be dry it out, if the tape that is already on the unit is heated too many times drying it out causing it to loose it's flex & adhesive properties?, I'm not sure to be honest 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤔

@@Gidjoiner Thanks Gid I hope it stays on, I applied to all the cabinets before assembly this time, and it still took for ever, I would have rafter used Formica if I could have, I know what I'm doing with that stuff.

Or do symphony give you a swatch to send off to get edge banding done?
@Gidjoiner6 жыл бұрын
A lot of my colours are colour matched to Farrow & Ball, Dulux, crown etc.. so a swatch can be gained or made to send to the edging people. I'm sure symphony would do one, they do one for the top of the tin, a triangle (half i guess) the other half they keep for their records.
