JULESNAPS: One orange studded with 20-30 cloves, 100g (two thirds of a cup) of soft brown sugar, 40g (half a cup) of coffee beans, 1 vanilla pod, 1 bottle (70cl) of neutral snaps/aquavit/voda: leave to sit for at least 6 weeks, then strain through a coffee filter into a clean bottle. Skål!

Thank you for your enjoyable early warning service and the whole new perspective on weekly home blessing (mother's little helper 😜). No, seriously, thank you for reminding me of actually enjoying the run-up to Christmas and of using the Flylady system to have time for the good things in life. You're a star!

I made this in early October & just strained and bottled it. It is SOOO good -- I've never had anything that tastes like it. I used vodka instead of schnapps (couldn't find neutral schnapps) & decaf coffee beans (because of the needs of my guests). This will certainly be a new yearly Christmas tradition for our family. Thank you so much. Next up is your British Christmas cake !

Finally got mine started today. Noticed that the Aquavit was not neutral but but was the only one in stock so I just grabbed it without looking. Since the liquor store won t take returns, I will hope for the best. It has anise and caraway. Zoinks!

The schnapps looks very good. Normally I make my own limoncello, but this sounds like a lovely winter treat. Love your inspirational video's. Love from stormy Amsterdam.

We too live in South Florida, but on the East coast & were very lucky to have minimal damage. My 17yo son just returned from a week of disaster relief with Samaritan's Purse in Naples. The pictures and stories he returned with of cleaning out people's entire lives from their destroyed homes was quite humbling. Hope you are doing well now, and have begun recovering! :)

A very good reminder to dress to shoes. I forgot to put my indoor shoes on when I got back from the gym on Monday and now I am paying the price, broken toe. I have been following your advice on the shoes ever since January but I slipped up this week. I don't think I will make that mistake again.

I'm so thankful you shared this recipe I had this when some friends shared it when living in Europe in the 80's, and all I need are the vanilla beans to start my recipe. Would you consider sharing your Christmas Cake recipe too. I have one that my friend from Bournemouth shared with me but I would love to see yours. P.S. love the Elfie Selfie...

For those in Germany I would actually suggest getting Korn. That's basic and neutral and closest to Snaps I'd say. It's what I used for most fruit Schnapps etc I set up as well

Shellee Martin Snyder please share how you make it! Maybe your own video? Is this your first time? I was thinking about trying it!
@shelleemartinsnyder71227 жыл бұрын
Michele Soto, my truth is I followed a recipe on Pinterest. I bought a Costco sized bottle of cheap vodka (someone recommended the red after I’d already bought and used the blue), and a bulk bag of Grade B Bourbon vanilla beans off Amazon. Split the beans in half, stuff them in the bottle, pouring out a wee bit if it overflows, then screw the lid back on and put it in the back of your closet to think about what it did for 6 months. Not hard at all!
@michelesoto59197 жыл бұрын
Shellee Martin Snyder then I will definitely do it!! Hopefully I won’t forget ii in their! Dark & cool or warm? Thank you for sharing!!
@shelleemartinsnyder71227 жыл бұрын
I mostly put it in the back of my closet so my kids can’t mess with it! Haha! Cool and dark is probably best.

Ah, I've finally done your recipe today! It's been more than a week that I wanted to try it, but couldn't find the cloves, or was looking for more info on the vodka type. Now it's done, and it smells delicious! (although I don't usually enjoy alcohol, maybe with the Christmas flavors of this one... who knows?) I usually do lots of homemade stuff for the teachers (vanilla sugar, sesame salt, homemade granola, masala chai tea, ...), this year I will test the Cafe Moka recipe from FlyLady's web site, and probably a hot chocolate homemade mix :-)) Mhmhm so "hugge-ly" !! Hoping for many more Christmas recipes, Nathalie.

Hi Diane, love this video! (and all your others of course). Having a hek of a time finding neutral schnapps in uk, obvious peach one is available or a vanilla one (do you think the latter would work ok?), the aquavit is double the price (eek) so will experiment with that another time. Sal

Oh my goodness, I love the French language. I should have taken all four years, I switched to German. I took one quarter in college. But I got screwed when they switched to semesters. They said I had to retake my language credit, because it didn't transfer. So I chose Spanish. Stupid me. I had to take 1101 two times to pass. French is so much easier than Spanish, I don't know why. My point, I'd really like to be bilingual.
