I remember, early on in the factory construction, some raw materials came in on the train. Is this track still being used for some materials, and are they still unable to send out finished cars on those tracks? I wonder because there was a recent vote against allowing a proper rail yard to be built. I suppose the result of this is more truck traffic.
@ikarus6058 ай бұрын
They will not use this track simply because they do not have a loading bay or enough space. It was never intended for that use either. Don't worry about the vote, it has no real power over the decision. It was heavily influenced by leftists who hate Elon Musk and therefore Tesla, who pretend to be environmentalists or climate activists. When they asked people why they voted against the expansion, they either admitted between the lines that it was a "fuck you" to Musk, or said they were worried about water consumption or more traffic, which shows they didn't even know what Tesla was going to build. The freight station would use very little water and take up to 1000 trucks a day off the roads. Since Tesla is not allowed to cut down any trees until October, the decision is not urgent anyway, so they have plenty of time to adjust their plans and convince the authorities to allow the expansion. I would not be surprised if more truckers suddenly find themselves driving through Grünheide (by accident) instead of around it.

Sometimes it's still used for gravel deliveries. They are not usable to send out finished cars though. I'm very sure that a railyard will be build. The question is the size, the location, and when it will be built.

And Berlin is much smaller
@ikarus6058 ай бұрын
@@wolfgangselle4307Texas is bigger but they also have the greater workforce both in construction and in the factory. Also keep in mind that there being a roof doesnt even mean that the floor is finished. Making batteries in Giga Texas was a business decision. They finished the construction fo the battery plant in Berlin over one and a half years ago but then decided to focus on Texas mostly for subsidies. I think both factories are more of less head to head, like the production numbers of Model Y show.

Great intro music, Tobias!! three questions, how many lots do the car movers pick up from? What are the 3 buildings used for, past the wharehouse on wheels lot? has the train tracks started being laid for the train to come pick up finished cars to transport? The three buildings are for waste handling. The rail yard to transport cars will take some time as they need more land for that, which is complicated. A development plan is in progress right now, but that plan also got a lot of protests dure to the additional forest clearing that would be required.

@two_tier_gary_rumain8 ай бұрын
Here's an extract from the report on Brussels Signal - Hard-left environmentalists set fire to a high-voltage transformer in Tesla’s Berlin-Brandenburg factory, resulting in a major power outage and a forced halt in production. It was unclear if the fire was an act of sabotage before the environmentalist activists claimed responsibility for the arson. The militant “Volcano group” said in a statement that it had “sabotaged Tesla”. “We have eliminated the risk to our lives and the lives of others,” they added, saying they rejected “green capitalism”, while calling Tesla’s owner Elon Musk “a techno-fascist”. The State Security Service has opened an investigation. Brandenburg’s prime minister Dietmar Woidke said “attacks on our critical infrastructure are a form of terrorism.” The local fire department first responded to the incident, after early morning reports of an explosion. A police aircraft was dispatched afterwards. Electricity outages were reported in portions of Neukölln, Rahnsdorf, and Müggelheim in Berlin, according to operator Stromnetz Berlin. About 2,000 households were affected. In a subsequent search, the police found a bomb warning in a protester’s nearby tent. Workers on the night shift had to evacuate the building, while a bomb squad searched the area. Workers from the morning shift were meanwhile not allowed in. The bomb squad’s search of the “Gigafactory”, which Tesla calls “our most advanced, sustainable and efficient facility yet”, was expected to take many hours. Michael Stübgen, the state of Brandenburg’s interior ministry, denounced the “perfidious attack” against the energy grid. After consulting with electrical provider EDIS, Tesla indicated all necessary precautions had been taken to protect its production facilities, and said it did not anticipate a rapid restart of production. In a reaction on X, owner Elon Musk called the arson “extremely dumb”. These are either the dumbest eco-terrorists on Earth or they’re puppets of those who don’t have good environmental goals.

@TobiasLindh8 ай бұрын
