I have a question, if a data line trace was broken somewhere on the pcie x16 slot, would the video card still work but at x4 or x2? because this what is happening on my Primary PCIE slot with any video card. the Chip-set PCIE x8 slot works just fine. I should also mention that the pins in the LGA 1200 socket looks great no bent pins. Someone suggested a cap near the CPU may be malfunctioning or something. Any thoughts? P.S. I really enjoy your videos. Great Production work!

If the issue is with your GPU that works in X2 or X4 that means a capacitor at the back of the card connected to the PCIE line is broken or knocked off. You may have to check the back under the microscope. Or a camera while zooming it. So the thing is depending on which pair of the data lines this capacitor is knocked off, it will show x8, X4, X2. I have a video coming up on this type of card soon.

Hello, what are the optimal settings to start with for hot air temp and air flow speed?

There is nothing like that. It depends on your machine. I use atten . On my air station I use 420c with 60% air flow for unleaded and desolder.

Checking the data lines will in the long run probably save you extra time it would take to continue to diagnose.( MATS failing, needing to lift the vram again to check)

I have 1060,using mats 367.56.4 and i still don't understand how to check memory while vga has no image, I have turned on internal graphics in the bios, if I select "IGFX" (initial Display output) I don't see the gpu to test and if I select "PCIe 1 slot" I don't see the image is on the onboard vga port, can someone explain it to me? thanks

It could be that the GPU is not detected. Have you checked if all voltages are present. Booting through internal display if GPU does not show means it's not detected

Have you tried loading into Windows from the internal display and check if the GPU is showing in the device manager? secondly, if you set mats to autorun even if you have a black screen mats will still run. probably wait for 10 min to 12 minutes or so then you can boot to Windows through internal display and check the report.txt file for faulty memory results.

I´m not sure what happened here. Why there was a short underneath the GPU? How? I mean - there was no missing contact but a short?! ... some kind of metal dirt ?! But how? ... I´m confused. How do you came to the conclusion that you have to reball the GPU? I would have said the GPU is faulty due to the short but I wouldn´t have reballed it?!

At first I thought the user may have given it to another repair shop. My assumption is something conductive may have got there.

I would never had thought about a reballing. Rather a faulty CPU?! Why did you make a reballing here? There was no reason?! A desperate attempt?

Well I had lost hope when I saw a short on the data line. It's just that I wanted to remove the core and test the pin on connecting the data line if it's shorted on the core. When I tested and saw that there was no short I was thrilled and happy I made that decision and reballed it and installed the core

what type of flux are you using ?

I use 2 different flux. One is mechanic AD-559 I use for reballing and other is Amtech NC-559(not original) from AliExpress.

No it wasn't. Since it was a memory error focus was on Artifacts and crashes. The rest of the card was fine.
